I feel how Mike feels on a deeper level than most. I’ve skated my whole life, it’s my passion, there were times when the only thing that kept me going was the thought of spending an hour at a spot trying to big flip a 10 stair or something along those lines. I was in a car wreck in 2014, met an 18 wheeler at an intersection head on, we were both going 60mph, I ended up spending the next 6 months in a wheelchair, then the 6 after that relearning how to walk. The only thing that kept me going was skateboarding, I refused to even think about the fact that I may not ever be able to skate again. Now here I am 5 years after taking my first initial steps again without needing crutches or anyone’s help and it just isn’t the same, I can’t even ollie off a 4 foot ledge without my legs feeling like they wanna give out. I work out everyday and it still isn’t the same, and I’ve come to terms with the fact I’ll never be able to skate the way I used too.

@@mrmedl4 Agreed, but I don't fault him for keeping skateboarding at arm's length during a time when his peers are still near the top of their game and putting out parts. Pro athletes need something to put an obsessive focus into and I'd assume Glassy is his ticket for now. When something isn't as fun as it used to be, it's easier to change priorities around. It's natural for people to gravitate towards things with huge growth opportunities and skateboarding doesn't really offer that to him anymore

Completely understand what he means when he says it pisses him off when he gets on a board now because he can’t do what he used to do. After my ankle injury I have limited motion in my right ankle. Can’t do anything nollie or switch anymore which pisses me off so much. Skating should be fun, not depressing.

I got fully flared for Christmas when I was a kid. It was my first skate dvd, I'll never forget that opening mike mo part! Its the only reason I even tried skating switch. I also ran into him after the injury at skate lab and he was playing skate with all of us and still so good. Skateboarding won't forget him.

I’ve been skating on and off for about the last 10 years and recently just got back into it again. Mike Mo’s Fully Flared part is really what turned me into skateboarding and he was my childhood hero no cap. I was astonished when a few of my friends today said they had no idea who Mike Mo was and I had to show them his Fully Flared part for the first time. Granted they had only been skating for the last 4-5 years but still wtf. Mike Mo literally changed the game. This man should be a 3x SOTY by now.

Man. 2007/2008 I looked to Mike Mo as an Idol. His skating, his chill attitude. I'll always be a fan. If I could have taken the golf cart injury in place of him, I would have. I wanted to see what else he had for the skateboarding world so badly.

The best of the best always get injured. I'm 31 and as everyone does who's heavily into skating I looked to the past before absorbing the future generations of skaters. John Cardiel was a massive flag in dedication and aggression accompanied with style and great personality.
I feel the same way about Mo, he left his mark as they said in a huge way, I followed Mo as he was coming up and love his style in everyway. Personally feel like one day he'll give alot more to skateboarding just in a different way. His parts were and still are the parts that I watch before I go skate.
Also, why has someone not filmed Mo VS Koston golfing?

I was prescribed suboxen and got off dope and started skating heavy again. But I physically couldn’t get to the level that I wanted. I got off the suboxen and I got back on the board and had no interest because I was in even worse physical shape then when I was on it. Detoxing takes all motivation away. I’m getting back into it now and stoked on it again. I can relate to mike not feeling skating that much. Hyped to see if I can get back in shape and skate like I’m used to.

I can relate- I’m metal from left hip to knee and right knee to foot. I’m not gonna skate all day to land a backtail shuv, hoping to not get worked and be out of commission for a week, considering I had kickflip backtail shuv out on lock like 10 years ago. It ain’t the age; it’s the hardware that limits us, unfortunately; and people tend to forget that because it’s not their legs. Much love from MA.
