Hey dude, next time you buff a guitar like that, it will be easier to just gut it - remove the pickups, bridge, controls, etc.; you'll find it alot easier to buff everything without navigating around bridges and pickup rings.
i eventually did gut it out. the screws were very rusty and i didn’t wanted to take them out too many times. so i eventually replaced them with new screws so i don’t have to strip them out.
Nice job man! What's next? Waiting to see how everything will look. Clean the tremolo, same way you did the fretboard but with metal cleaner. Also please take the humbuckers and do a clean under the rings and tremolo. Pm on facebook if you need anything.
i cleaned everything underneath the pickups but i like the way they look! and the bridge i used ‘brasso’ to clean up as much dirty as i could and greased up the fine tuning screws. i might put in some copper tape in the cavities of the guitar too!
@@guitarforall i did this to my rr3 swirl, then I fail to make a mirror out of the control plate... now I want to clean the tremolo and change all the screws to make it look new.
hey there, i finally got along to making a full sound demo on the RR1. if you are curious to see how it sounds? th-cam.com/video/RTTggz-7a64/w-d-xo.html
Not too bad but I would recommend to use 70% rubbing alcohol to clean the fretboard as it will clean/take off alot more than using oil. Then apply the oil afterwards and prep the guitar body with giving it a good wiping with paper towels under warm/hot water and get it ready before adding/applying polish to it. Great video though and I can't wait for more future videos!
thank you!! this is my first ever DEEP clean ive done on a guitar this old. i had to use some apple cider vinegar on some screws since they were just rusty from all the sweat. it’ll have strings on it soon !
It has a Kahler bridge, which is spicy, but also typical for mid 80's "metal guitar". What do you think about replacing the blue electronics plate with a golden one? Does the bridge have the locking feature? I'm also curious about the level of fret wear : )
the blue plate seems to be painted on so i thought about using acetone or some chemical to peel off the blue paint. i wish it was gold too!, the bridge does not have the locking feature but i kept the tremlo off and it stays in tune perfectly! the frets are perfect too, and a straight neck..
@@michael4591 i’m okay with these tremelo bridge since i use it from time to time, i also use floyd rose a lot so i found it to be a lot more comfortable too
i finally got an interface to record guitar audio.. thank you for subscribing!! i will soon upload a demo on the RR1 jackson. that will be my next video …
don’t worry!! that’s in the process now!, the headstock is getting a aged jackson USA decal so i can apply lacquer over it and restore it. i’m waiting for warmer temperatures here in pennsylvania so i don’t have any trouble with that. slow and steady wins
@@guitarforall I have a 1991 Jackson soloist with lightning Sky graphic on it and that's what I use on all my Jackson with ebony fingerboards I've also use it on the maple like on my Jackson PC 1 models also.
"ROSEWOOD"??? No my dude that is EBONY! This is sad to see because it is such a early example of a USA RR's! It has a super low serial number and is just a great guitar. Looks like it will need a refret soon as well.
yes i’m used to saying rosewood a lot since all my guitars have rosewood. i have to ebony fretboard guitars and they are amazing. i’m definitely going to refret this guitar soon , my 1991 charvel 650xl needs one as well.
Its an ebony fretboard. Nice
thank you for watching!
