I just finished ripping out one of these exact same humidifiers at a family’s residence due to age and condition and I replaced it with the honeywell true ease advanced bypass humidifier. I have to say… I have never been a fan of these bypass trickle style humidifiers as they waste heaps of water and don’t humidify as effectively as steam units… BUT… I have to admit that i am extremely impressed with the true ease advanced model. It is pretty darn slick. It modulates the water feed on and off to reduce water waste and it has an automatic baffle to open and close the bypass air. The unit has a light that comes on to alert you when it’s time to replace the mesh pad and the pad is easier to replace via a side pull out panel. The internal electronic controller provides for more advanced wiring options including control relays in the humidifier to close R to G to force the furnace blower fan on.m when there is a call for humidity from the humidistat. I am also surprised by how well the unit is raising the humidity in the house. I’m even thinking that when my true steam humidifier craps out I will replace it with one of these true ease advanced bypass models. The steam units consume a lot of electricity but waste less water. Electricity is far more expensive than water! Cheers!
Just a heads up, read the directions and see if it can be mounted on either the hot air side or the cold air return side. mine can be mounted on both. since this video I have taken it and mounted it on the cold air return only because it was getting so hot that it was drying out the water element. Since mounting on the cold air return side I have not had one single issue with it, it works perfectly.
Cheap torpedo levels are not very precise, but more likely is that the HVAC installers in your home did a rush job, and those tin bangers just put up the duct work by eye... You would be amazed by the tolerances accept in construction.
How do i know if the bypass is set correct? my humidistat is in the living room but set very high., water supply is hot water aprilaire 560 never gets past 32 % humidity?
Hey my man great install you definetly cleared up the issues i was having...just one question i got everything done and when my furnace is one i dont see water trickling down the drain tube is that normal?
Yes it’s normal for water to come out from the bottom of unit where you are supposed to attach the drain tube to go into your floor drain hopefully near by
Thanks for the excellent video. I have made sure that connections are correct. Water flows only when heater turns on and turns off when the heater turns off. However, the humidity is not increasing even when the humidistat is set to maximum. Any ideas as to what I can check? Thanks for your feedback.
If you're seeing water coming through the humidifier to the drain, then check to make sure the damper is in the open position. I'm not sure if your statement about water flow is your observation, or a statement of fact. You can also remove the cover and pad, run the furnance and observe if water is flowing.
Water wastage cannot be fixed by reducing flow, which the saddle valve will do. If you reduce flow to drips, then they dont distributed into the channels on the top edge of the filter box, and only 1 or 2 holes drain water into the filter, so not much gets wet. So it needs sufficient flow as to waste water. Not sure how to fix that. :/
If you are referring to adjusting the humidistat to control the amount of humidity it puts in the house, it works very well. The reduced amount of water flow fills all the channels in the humidifiers filter. At least on the model I have in stalled. And after a couple of winters with this whole house humidifier, I can say it works amazingly as one would hope.
Thanks. I’m going to tape those seals. Have to take the humidistat tonight. I want to see what’s in the furnace because there 2 old wires going in. The instructions definitely SUCK!

Good and honest,,,, great video, going to install my own also.

Dang I like the video! I’m just stuck at the wiring part.
What are you stuck with on the wiring? Maybe I can help.
Nice job! Personally, I just like to see your dimples 😜

Thank you!
Thank you for checking out my video.
Did you connect the Pressure Switch, if you did how?

@@mannycabral8947 he said he DIDN'T see water being discharged
Read the instructions: it says at the top of the instructions for the HE280 the entire sheet is the template!
Read the top line of the template sheet. The whole sheet is or 280.

It sez on the template sheet first sentence on top "HE280 Template(Entire Sheet). Maybe read the instuctions would help.
I thought humidifier should be mounted on return air duct. Looks like you did the installation backward?
The directions state this model can be installed on either.

SICK SHIRT BRO
This means your duct work isn't level
I checked that, it comes out the back then 90 degrees and goes straight up out of the garage.
