    Fantastic vlogs. You get a real sense of your personality and your enjoyment of the journey itself. You don't tend get that on a plane or on other train videos where they can be a bit dry (here's the legroom, reading light, wi-fi speed etc.). I've bought into the concept of not flying if possible - I've just persuaded my wife that our trip to San Sebastian in June would be better by train (via Eurostar and Paris). Keep 'em coming.

    Another Great Travel Video, Looks a really simple process with checking in and all the offers you get, is the Eurostar trains far more comfortable and spacious compared to UK train operators such as GWR, LNER and others. Keep up the great videos, hopefully more contents to be added.

    Also, I actually took Eurostar for the first time this past fall, from London to Paris and then back to London some time later. It was quite pleasant and easy and very uneventful, which is a good thing. I can't say that they scenery was spectacular such as on trains in the Alps, but it was nice enough. And only $52 each way, so a bargain especially considering the cost of getting to and from the airport, plus no need to get to the airport and self-checked luggage, so time saved. We were able to bring a 1 liter bottle of water with us, so no security issues or buying overpriced airport drinks.
    The only thing I don't like about trains is that the section of track leaving from and getting into most stations can be pretty dingy and depressing, with lots of graffiti and rubbish and all that. But a very small price to pay for all the advantages, and one doesn't have to look outside.

      They probably don’t know that plane free travel can be the same price and quicker than catching a plane. You can bring as much baggage as you need within reason and possibly not as much restrictions as flying.

    Great video, I found you by accident. As a citizen from the Netherlands, I would like to go to London by train in October. It looks me so great :). I have a question. Do you maybe know how the bussiness class seats look like, especially the leg room? I have a length of 1.95m and it's important to travel with comfort :).. keep up the good work, I subscribed yet.

  • @aselwyn1

    when looking at flights don't just lookup the cheapest. for example you can get a flight from London city airport that's similarly short tube fare away in central London for £65 or Heathrow for 50 these are much better choices vs going all the way to Luton and flying easyJet with a bunch of extra's. Eurostar is great but some days its just ridiculously expensive

  • @davidlally592

    Mm I've done the st pancras Amsterdam run a few times.excellent and I usually travel the intermediate price level: not std (usually good value but no food/drink provided) and not 1st class ( a full meal but expensive). Sometimes one has to change at Brussels midi onto/ from a thales tgv train - for arrival at / departure from Amsterdam or to/ from rotterdam.

  • @gracieforster7274
    @gracieforster7274 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you enter St Pancreas 30 minutes before departure? I’m going in March and there’s an hour between when we arrive in St Pancreas and when the Eurostar leaves - will this be enough time?! xx

    • @sarahb.m.5730
      @sarahb.m.5730  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gracie, yeh that’s definitely enough time. They recommend arriving between 45-90 minutes before departure. As long as your first train isn’t delayed that should be fine. I don’t recommend this as they say the ‘gate’ shuts 30 minutes before departure but my friend has arrived 25 minutes before the train departed and she still made it on time. X

    I'm travelling to London next month, and I would really enjoy visit Amsterdam as well. On the description you say it was only 40 pounds, but when I check the site, the prices start from 130. Have the prices improved this much in so few time? Or am I being dumb and not knowing how to search for them correctly? Anyway, really nice video!!

    • @mumblic
      @mumblic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the video she mentions 68 pounds, but mentioning prices is by definition misleading because prices heavily fluctuate, just like with planes. She was traveling when Covid restriction were still in place and also in January. In general trains are always more expensive, especially during the summer months.

    If you got on an airplane somewhere on holiday, you don't normally get nice views if you get a seat where you look out of the window in comparison to the train. There are better views on the train.

    I will always prefer taking a train over a plane (or driving for that matter but in the 31+ years that I've owned my car I still haven't quite cracked 80k miles on it, or an average of just over 2500 miles a year), not just because it's so much more comfortable and enjoyable and far less stressful but often cheaper, many times even faster, and, of course, far more environmentally cleaner.
    The only reason I ever fly or drive is because taking a train either isn't possible, as say for getting to Europe from the US (and only rich people and the merchant marine do this by ship anymore), or it's just not practical, say for a distance much over 300-400 miles or to get somewhere not served by rail (we still have a very primitive passenger rail system here in the US compared to much of the rest of the world). But whenever I'm in Europe it's almost entirely trains and buses, including in cities.
    However, I understand that many Brits, in large part because the weather there is often not that great and they understandably want to get away to places that are warmer, sunnier and drier, but also because the UK being an island kingdom (yes some of us Yanks do know the difference between England, the UK and GB) there's often an urge to just get away, travel abroad, and that most probably still do it by plane. Eurostar and ferries have done their share to change this, but there's probably much more that can be done, like more frequent trains and, perhaps, someday, another tunnel, or a widening of the existing tunnel. But I also understand that most continental Europeans do travel more by train than by plane, which is fantastic if true. Europe has an incredible rail system that I've used many times and it really does put ours to shame. Like, a large flat screen TV compared to a 5" tube TV.
    Love your videos.
