How come there is no a single East Africans among the panels?
Stop talking behind East Africans back.
Respect and do not exclude us from the conversation about ourselves.

East Africans or, for that matter, Horn African nations should have been talking thier interest and global relations among themselves and could have had unified policies that serve their best interests. Unfortunately, my people, the East Africans failed to do so.

Anyways, all these people here swivel chair analysts and know nothing about the nuts and bolts of the horn of Africa or the red sea. The perspective is clearly colonial with a brushing attitude of ownership of the horn of Africa.

I think it is time to leave the east africans and redsea region countries to solve their problems by themselves for their mutual interests and that is what we are observing right now.
the americans, europeans ,asians or any country for that matter ....should learn no intervention but only give support at a request and not create chaos at the expense of these poor countries.....

China's presence in the Red sea shouldn't be seen as provocative. It's for economic cooperation with the region and surely will eventually replace the hitoric colonial interventions of the West that has left the Horn into poverty and endless conflicts.

First, Black and African are not synonyms. Neither is White a synonym for European. When everyone is black, nobody is.
      2. Let's be honest: there are very few Africans interested in this subject, if they did there'd be plenty of videos on TH-cam on the subject made by Africans but there's none

I have to agree with this, and I'm not a great proponent of this sort of viewpoint. "Our tax payers are more generous" really said it all for me. They are holding this conversation entirely through the white middle class lexicon. Western taxpayers want their own money spent on their own countries. We have done enough already both for good and bad in the Horn and Red Sea. Let the people there decide their own futures.

Thanks for the Program, the United Nation under ( Uni-Som ) of 24000 Troops from Africa deployed in Somalia since 2011 which cost USA and west Europe around 500 Million Dollars/Euros Yearly or more. This Money can build easily a Somali Army of 36000 Personnel and Navy of 4000 Personnel. All Piracy and Lawlessness will end and Somalia will be in Peace but were Refused and the United Arab Emirates ( UAE ) involvement in Somalia of only one Million People are just Tools and every Somalian knows of an Agenda from USA and West Europe to Somalia of these two Objectives 1) Oil Reserve if Confirmed or 2) Somalia signed one Belt one Road ( OBOR ) with China or Both. If Somalia and China has successful Relationship, China will have a strong Presence in the west of Indian Ocean and just like China Presence in Djibouti in the Red Sea. I think our Suffering will continue until at least 2020 because of the International Politics and until the United Nation pack up and leaves and just like when Eritrea closed the United Nation Office and kick them out and replace it with a real Partner of 50/50 for Somalia and the Somali People.

  • @williamhatzidis9240

Embodied opinions. Listen to the paternalistic register of discussion across this cross-legged canvas without so much as the flinch of a brow: the "crashing together", "for better or for worse", of these "asymmetric relationships". Frankly, the most asymmetric thing about the Red Sea is this discussion; an exercise in neo--neo-colonialism. Here we have grown men and a woman, sentient and intelligent creatures each and everyone, talking as if the land belongs to them and infantilising peoples from the Horn of Africa. It is the well-worn process of othering the African in a complex system of devaluation but designed here less to imbue the West's sense of superiority over the Black man---that point is less presumed by this panel than merely disregarded as a lesser concern in a higher stakes game---than one designed to position the West in a place of moral superiority over China, Russia, and the Gulf nations. Of course, the worst of it is the audacity to play this charade out in public, a tragedy in five acts, record it, and peddle it as some kind of altruistic going concern.

Not one mention of Israel and the strait of Tiran on the Red Sea or the Negev which Pres Weizmann pleaded heavily with Pres Truman for it to be added into Israel’s territory. Even if Ben-Gurion said for Israel to survive it must look south. Not to mention Israeli’s military bases in Eritrea or the blockade of the Eilat port in 1967 which was the primary cause of the Six-Day War with the Arabs. Well, at least there was tea and biscuits.

I watched the entire discussion three times and find it interesting to find that Russia does not appear anywhere in the presentation. GCC countries are waking up to the growing presence of China in particular which will effect the Dubai ports economically. I think West is going to stand back and let China sink herself as a financier of projects in the African continent and when comes a time to collect the money they will fail the way nations of West and IMF failed to collect the debts from Africa. The developed nations of the West had to write-off the money owed to them and China will face the same issue in 10 to 20 years time. Africa has become a sucker of free money and when they accumulate debts which multiplies with the interest rate the bleeding hearts start a movement to write off debts because of the increasing level of poverty and hunger in the region. It will be interesting to watch as to who comes on top at the end of the power struggle going on in the region.

    • @ngyongzheng6255
      @ngyongzheng6255 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Well even if African states can’t pay back their debt in the future, China already has leverage on them from so many different aspects at the time its financing ended. So it would be stupid for Western countries to leave China alone in Africa.

Thanks Alex, The Greek .I agree with everything he said. The worlds heart beats right around the red sea.this is where the religion and politics merge.Ethiopia is the melting pot for East Africa,Africa and the world at large.
Its about time to Europe and America to actively and positively act on binding these East African countries .

We the people of eastern Africa must Stand together to defend the aggression of US lead western dictatorial rule. Ethiopians are an exemplary people who defended the whites superiority. The diplomacy must be on wine wine approach nit by racism and regime change. Ethiopians are pushed to act Wildish to defend the sovereignty. China and Russia may dominate the region if USA doesn't change the distractive foreign policy.
