Benchmark Bowling Balls look Different NOW! | Storm Ion Pro vs Hammer vs Motiv | The Hype

  • The term benchmark is constantly throw around and it definitely has different meaning for different styles of bowlers. For me these Aysm bowling balls with low differentials fall into the benchmark category for me. Being ball I can start with then judging the lanes whether I need to go to something stronger or cleaner to help me compete on the lanes. The Ion Pro fits the bill!

    Throw those on the B&W filter, but the Envy is earliest, the Ion is next, and the Black Venom is longest. Of course, I don't know if you put all the surfaces at the same grit before you shot this video; that would be the real test of cover strength. Those are three great bowling balls. From what I see in this vid, the Ion gets the nod. And Storm's deep dive video showed that when you put the Ion's surface at 1000 grit, it is a Phaze 2. The ball is a two-fer, fer sure.

      TDX is the most frustrating ball in one of my bags. It rarely comes out except for when I want to torture myself with trying to be perfect. Straight for about a game. Lane shines and never wants to hit the pocket flush nor carry.

    Is the term "benchmark" used for balls suited for game 1 on a house shot? Or does it mean, use during practice to determine what ball to use on sports patterns?

    • @TheHype-Bowling
      @TheHype-Bowling  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I use the term benchmark like all-purpose balls. They can work on just about everything but will give you a clearly picture of what may work better on a given condition.

    Would this be a good ball for high rev players? I’m a ~430 rev bowler according to Specto. Have issues with most of my balls going Brooklyn if I don’t get the speed up. Current arsenal: DV8 Chill, Storm The Road, Hammer Effect, Phaze III, spare ball.

      Ion a lot stronger than the ruby. You could start with the ion than get into the ruby later in league set. Tour dynam-x is much earlier and more forward. Ion is going to allow more bowlers to play more parts of the lane with more ease.

    • @TheHype-Bowling
      @TheHype-Bowling  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Look at the numbers bro, the Ion falls into this category not a symmetrical hybrid, that numbers are not even close. Hazmat has 0.055 diff. Hazmat is more of skid flip ball than a benchmark ball.

    • @webmoss
      @webmoss 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheHype-Bowling ooo…. I missed the mark there. When I hear benchmark, I automatically assume all things symmetric. But the Envy Tour is a solid and is less responsive vs the ION. Perhaps compare the ION to the Arctic Vibe? Numbers aren’t quite the same but it’s an Asym to Hybrid compare. I think it’s unfair to have a solid Asym continue off those deep angles.
