As a northerner, we see these many times a year, but very rarely do we see the fuschia pink! We have had so many people visit the Yukon in May or January who don't see them, and once an author who was terminally ill and trying to get that one last bucket list item, and they didn't show up, so I am thrilled for the millions of Americans who get to see this magical gift of nature at least once, especially California, where I lived for a long time. ❤ If you are in a relatively quiet area and you see them rippling, you can hear them too. It sounds like a small, crackling fire. Our Indigenous tribes, whose remains have been found back to 10,000 years ago up here, have many legends of the northern lights. The one I love is: *Sometimes, when you look up, it almost looks like a circle. And to me, it looks like people are holding hands, and it looks like they're dancing in a circle, and we say that's our ancestors.*
