I'm finally learning this lesson myself. As a Finn living in the US, when I recently visited Finland again I wanted to make a vlog about it, but I didn't know how to express the feeling of returning to an old home, and how I'd forgotten about the slow living habits I used to have when I still lived in Finland. I'm now in the process of scripting a voiceover to describe those feelings. This was a beautiful video & I hope you do indeed make enough income from TH-cam eventually to keep traveling and adventuring! 💕
I hope you can translate the feeling! I'm originally from Germany but have lived in many different countries in Europe and now in the US I totally get it. Whenever you return home, you still somehow feel like this is the place you are from but it also feels a little foreign because living abroad changes you. You might not notice it at first but you definitely feel it when coming back to the country you are from.
I won't try in vain to use mince and half-ass words to describe it. This was the most eye-opening and best video on creativity that I could find on the internet! Very inspiring, thank you!
This is precisely how I feel about painting. There are moments, especially around sunset/sunrise, when there's not enough light for a picture and the cost of getting a photograph outweighs the benefit. When I leave my phone in my bag and memorize the scene to paint later, it frees me to simply experience what I'm seeing instead of trying to perfectly capture it. My paintings capture how things truly feel---a true memory, rather than an edited, blurry photograph that doesn't do it justice.
Wow! What an absolute magnificence! I have been documenting my life by writing a journal everyday for that past 6 years now. I write down raw facts, emotions and random thoughts there but mostly facts and recently I started feeling that I really don't make use of this journal and I just write to write. But instead I should do something with it. I love your video, it was well structured, beautifully said and put together, it kind of inspired me to do something more with the journal. However I don't know what exactly...yet. ~Usat
You should read your journal, you will learn a lot by reflecting on your experience , by reading your journal you will reflect a lot. You will start loving yourself more, this is what happened to me.
I like to write short poems when I feel any profound way or experience something fascinating. I think it’s an easier way to know exactly what I was going through without reading a bunch of scribbles :)
My problem is that I documented too little. Due to some health issues, my memory is deteriorating and I struggle to live in the moment, remember the past, and hope for the future, so I decided to hold on to as much as I can. Now I take dozens of photos every week, film random moments that seem mundane today, even record "interviews" with my friends and family, so I can have a reminder for the future. My younger brother even got mad at me for dumping all the 4 terabyte of stuff I have on the shared family cloud.
That’s such a beautiful way of documenting these moments of your life! To stand still by a memory to capture its essence again. I will definitely try this as well! Thank you for sharing that :))
This is such a great idea and feels like the exact thing I want to start doing with my memories. I've thought of having a big scrapbook, and who knows, I might still do that, but this is really what I need for my special memories. I find it cool that you just make the painting based off the photo from your phone: it doesn't need to be as realistic as possible, just captures the essence. Also by painting at the end of the trip rather than doing it live during the hike or whatever, you can actually gauge what was important looking back on the trip. I haven't painted in over a decade and I wasnt great back then as a kid, so it would probably be much better off with something like colored pencils, but seems like a cool opportunity to learn a new skill also and find my own style.
Thanks for the inspiration. Used to draw scenes, moments, monuments in my student years and can remember every single situation ... will start again...
With such a beautiful 5 minute film you could easily add 5 minute films as well as your paintings and that way instead of a load of random clips you would have one film per each adventure plus one painting. How cool would that be. I can paint but I can't make films like that. It was very beautiful and I love the concept. For some reasons my sketchbooks make me remember the events of my life much more vividly then photos or writing a journal does. The sketches are much more evocative.
This hits on a so much deeper level. On the one hand, like Jonne, you have to live life and feel it. On the other hand, you have to make it meaningful by picking moments and give them a sense. As i'm also a hoarder of moments, i always thought: life passes just by. And going all the pictures and tickets I got a glimpse of the past, you made me realize, that i have to pick the best moments and have to present them to have the moments live on. Thank your for the awesome food of thought.
OMG🥹🥹Thanks to the algorithm, for bringing this to my feed today! This is the content I want, the ones that do not overwhelms you, but calms your nervous system!
I found your channel by chance. I love the way you describe your journey. I could listen to you endlessly. Your words are simple but have a deep meaning.
Beautiful 🥺 life is about collecting and valuing those simple moments in which we are in nature without worrying about anything else. Thank you for sharing!
Those drawings are so damn cool and pretty! i was so impressed at the moment where you showed the actual way of "meaningful" documenting everything, by those paintings. such a cool and inspirational idea! thanks :)
That was so beautiful! Really touched me. Thank you for that! Also, it made me really think about how I want to capture my life. So glad the algorithm brought up your video ❤
I relate to this 100%. Ive been focusing on “making” photos instead of just taking photos. ig it’s important to realise capturing meaningful photos is what matters in the end. To be able to look back at them and feel what I felt when I took it. Beautiful video.
Great idea to paint 🎨 the memories, instead of filling harddrives (I’m guilty of that, too) Sidenote: I really enjoy the calm tone of your videos. It has something really relaxing to me.😊
that's such a beautiful way of documenting your adventures, can't even imagine how aweinspiring it will be with even more paintings on the walls to look at. also really beautiful video 🥰
I moved to Sweden a couple of years ago and I enjoy been working on a design for a lino print with a bunch of vignettes of everything I love about summer here (eventually hopefully I’ll do one for winter too). And it’s exactly like what you describe with painting: I get to choose the precise moments and how to display them. It’s been very rewarding and I haven’t even started carving blocks yet
This was so beautiful and inspiring it literally bought me to tears. You are a talented story creator, through words, video, and paint. Thank you for sharing with us.
Beautiful! The video, the landscapes and the paintings! Also the sentence about not caring how much money you'll make, as long as you'll be able to go on trips like this that remind you what living life is all about, really resonates with me.
wow that's really what i call underrated, you made me feel happy nostalgic and almost cried in one video ! and your paintings are beautiful glad i clicked on this video you gained one sub !
Such a beautiful soul! I found you on TikTok a while ago, and seriously, you are teaching me to live a better life! Enjoying every moment is what life is about.
This is so incredibly beautiful and inspiring. I am just so happy you got to find your magic language and style of keeping and reliving these memories. Thank you so much for also sharing it in this compelling way!
That is such a cool idea! I’ve been thinking about ways to try to document my life better beyond my journal, and this gives me some inspiration. Thank you for sharing!
What a beautiful video and message! I love your memory wall. I started a similar project a couple years ago, but I wanted to finish the paintings digitally and have not had the motivation to do so yet. But I really want is to write a graphic novel (or maybe more than one!) that captures different periods of my life...somehow life always gets in the way.
Such beautiful shots and scenery! Your painting skills are also so great and having inspired to try and take up landscape painting to capture adventures. Thank you so much for sharing this! Big love from Zambia 🇿🇲
Oh this is brilliant in the beginning, it is so true, i have a lot of books, but to make them meaningful, never done that, never even thought of it, just collected a lot, randomly. will tell more after watching the whole
I love this! People for some reason strive to work to live and get consumed in consumerism, we should be talking about working enough to get by without stress, and just spend on things that make us happy
This was so beautifully done. I can imagine how overwhelmingly magical the moments of that trek actually was and the impossibility of capturing that feeling accurately, but I felt it anyways :)
Fantastic video. Super inspirational to do something with the memories taken/ created on adventures (or even just life). Reliving good and important times just makes life better and the memories permanent, and I loved seeing your process. Thanks for sharing.
I really love this! What a great film! The storytelling is soooo good and love the paintings you did! I might try and do that as it really does make it more meaningful and memorable
It gave me a sensorial experience. I just loved it! ✨ I don't document at all. My lifen is saddening. I think I am caught in perfectionism and unable to be vulnerable. So many regrets I have, intertwined with feuds with my parents. Suddenly, your documentation gives me hope. One day I want to live freely, for myself with full of hope and radiance, fearlessly. I hope I do so and inspire others just like you. Until, thank you for sharing this!
there’s a quote I really like relating to this; “how liberating it is to pursue wholeness instead of perfection”. Life’s never perfect, but making sure it fulfils you is the closest it’s gonna get!
I really love drawing and painting, but then I always struggle with what I want to paint (at least when I‘m not trying to process something through a painting and even then). I also love photography and take so many pictures. I started now to put them into albums or print the ones that are most important to me out. I somewhat also started to paint photographs I love. But your video now inspired me to do that much more often. It is such a great idea to document your life through paintings and it fits also extremely good to myself. Thank you so so much!❤
What a wonderful video! I think it's the best one you made so far. I personally feel different about my interactions with memories. I love my hard drive with hundreds of thousands of photos, I love scouring through it and finding memories that I had long forgotten, to reimmerse myself into past experiences as an active act. However, your memory wall seems to be something quite special, and I'm sure and it will look absolutely magnificient once it is finished.
So cool! I started with a similar project during covid lockdown, but never made it past some sketches...as I still feel like I'm not good enough yet with water colors. Love your paintings! They motivate me to start working on this again and give watercolouring another try :)
I've been going back to my google drives and look at tje pics since 2018 and sometimes I just delete because it is not meaningful. So I have been looking for a way to do it better. Not any good at painting but it is worth a try.
I had thought about doing the same thing, painting with watercolors all the inspiring, beautiful and worth remembering moments of my life. And today your video reminds me of this idea that I had and that I should not let go of. I also want to paint my adventures. I am excited to begin. THANKS!!

NOT AT ALL WHAT I WAS EXPECTING.
THIS IS CINEMA. I THINK THIS HAS CHANGED ME AS A PERSON FOR SOME REASON. THIS WAS ABSOULTELY CRAZY.
wow, that 5 min video felt like a movie, keep going you're doing a fantastic job 🥰
wish I could paint like that😩 love it!
Get onto it pal, start training today
how often do you paint?

Beautiful paintings. My mom used to paint a decent amount, and we had a few up in my childhood home. I'm terrible at it, but these took me back.
