This is one of my favorite episodes of this podcast. We were provided so much insight of how and why decisions were made in regard to the music. It was powerful to hear that the music was the subtext to the scene. Now I understand why those moments hit so deeply. We all feel that in our life. Thanks for sharing your incredible gift with us.

This was the episode I didn't know I was waiting for!
The Score has been one of my favorite characters from the show since my initial watch. Thank you, Sidd, for taking your risks and coming from such a personal place so that we, too, can feel it from such a personal place. Like Mandy, my tears started flowing immediately when he played and sang for the first time on this episode (and I can't blame pregnancy hormones!). Of course, the scene being covered was an emotional scene, but it was Sidd who brought it home. My heart is full after this episode.

This was a great episode. Literal tears. How Sid was able to connect his childhood experiences with his mother to Dan's experiences as well as the Pearsons... wow. The scene where he played the tune from the funeral and discussed Kate & her meltdown with the sticks with the entire process. What an amazing opportunity you have given us to see how all of it unfolded. Sid - you are AWESOME.

In the Christian church we use “oh’s” in music as what’s known as “war cry’s”. A cry out to God to give us courage and strength in the time of battle. When I heard those oh’s in 42:28 I got emotional. It made me think of all the battles the Pearsons faced throughout the show and ultimately got through. The music in this show really says so much it’s truly mind blowing.

When the guitar came out, I knew this podcast episode would destroy me even more 😭. What an absolute blessing it was to get insight into Sid's creative process. I viscerally remember the first time I heard this particular piece of music in S1E13 and how it forever changed the depth of the series for me (and it was already waaaaay deeper than anything I remember watching on network TV). The score holds this tension between grief and peace so profoundly. Thank you for illuminating all of this for us viewers and listeners ❤️

I have so much respect, love and admiration for Siddhartha Khosla. I discovered Siddhartha's music when 'This Is Us' released in 2016 and I just fell in love with his music, artistry and creativity as a music composer. His music has soul which is layered with deep emotion. I love that he had the room to explore his Indian musical heritage through the 'This Is Us' soundtrack. There are so many masterful pieces of music from 'This Is Us' and I have a dedicated playlist where I listen to these profound pieces of music over and over again. Siddhartha's music fills my heart with emotional joy. I always find myself becoming teary-eyed whenever I hear his pieces of music especially from 'This Is Us'. And now watching this interview and his creative process moved me to tears. He truly understood the soul of 'This Is Us' and his music became the soul of the show. 💗🎼🎸📼📽🎞😢

It was like unraveling another layer of the magic that made up this wonderful show. So many interesting details in the relationship between Dan and Sid, Sid's own personal and professional journey, and how Sid went about the actual show. I love how you all share the credit of the magic and emotion created through This is Us and at the same time, you all keep each other real about not selling yourselves short on your contributions to the show. The real magic of this show is that we got all these wonderful elements put together; between the acting, the music, the writing, the editing, and all these amazing people taking part in breathing life to This is Us. A compelling, insightful and deeply substantive episode. Loved the idea that the music was a character of its own in the show, I think so as well. The musical selections, original pieces throughout the 6 seasons were the connective tissue between the characters, time and space, and the human condition. The conversation at 45:00 min. about the Indian influences on the score where Sidd combined the table drumming with the Indian sounds, together, they are the sounds of grief and gratitude living side by side, as life goes on...so appropriate for Jack's passing/funeral scene, a pivotal moment that changed everyone's life. Siddhartha is both humble and brilliant, a winning, transformative combination. Thank you for this wonderful episode, one I will listen to more than once.

I am speechless after watching this episode. I knew the music was amazing in this show, but somehow learning the stories behind it all makes it that much more profound. You all have the most beautiful souls. Thank you so much for sharing yourselves and your stories, and thank you so much for introducing us to Sid Kholsa like this. ❤

I will forever be grateful for this show and literally every single person who worked on this outsanding project. From episode 1 I felt the emotional part that the music held in the show. Forever amazed by the work!

Such an amazing and moving episode...hearing more about the stories of the show creators and how they are woven throughout...the depth, meaning, and authenticity of this show- in the fictional stories and the real life stories- is beautiful. 💗

I recently finished watching the series for the second time. I have LOVED the insights and deep dive of this podcast. I have to say, as much as I love every episode of the podcast so far, this is my new favorite. Getting to know the history of Dan & Sid's relationship all the way through is thrilling and fascinating. I now need to watch the series again and pay even more attention to all of the music and the connective themes. So beautiful. Thank you for providing a safe space to feel everything from gut-wrenching sadness to cleansing, tearful bliss each and every week and again and again with this podcast.
