Here it is, Part 2 of WALKER vs CRUTCHES! If you haven't watch PART 1...go watch it first! (Below)
Well after my walk with the forearm crutches I must say I need to walk more often! I am out of shape when it comes to walking. SO the answer, I definitely prefer to walk with the forearm crutches. Big reason being it's what I'm used to. I've been using forearm crutches for 22 years now and feel very comfortable using them. I found with the walker I was more stable holding onto the walker but I could not get enough leverage to "hike" up my right leg so my foot wouldn't drag. Which you can hear in the video PART 1.
Also, travelling, the walker does fold down but takes up more room that the crutches. The crutches can also be adjust to a shorter length for easy storage.
So there you have it! I'm sticking with the forearm crutches!
Thank you for watching!

I am back. Wow got to have a lot of upper body strength. The more you change up it is working different muscles or positioning. Like I know what I am talking about.😜 I love all the woods that I see. Now what is in there I am sure I do not love. Thanks for letting us share in your life.💛💛💛💛and your wife❤️❤️❤️❤️
Welcome back! Yes, we are surrounded by woods. Nothing to much to worry about in these woods. Maybe a bear but they are generally more scared of us humans. We have a lot of deer, rabbits and oh BUGS!
You're fantastic! You don't need to run. You haven't missed anything.
Thanks for watching!
@@paralifetv-youreverydaywhe8314 Hi, how are you? You’re so fantastic. Keep on practising your walking with your crutches everyday. Hope to see you progressing. Best friend, from, PaulLaw.

Wow! Thank you for sharing. I had a TBI last year and had to relearn walking. It was humbling. I still have episodes of dizziness that make me unsteady so I have to drive supervised.
You are very welcome. I'm wishing you a full and successful recovery. Cheers!
Wow just wow good job.😎😎
Thank you! Cheers!

I use a walker and I really want to try crutches next. It has been a year since my injury (L1 spinal cord injury) thank you for sharing!! And can you do a tutorial for beginners how to use crutches. Cheers mate.
Hi XxCookieCookiexX. Thank you for watching. That is a great idea! I'm going to work on that one... Thanks!
Super helpful video, thanks!
Glad it was helpful! Cheers!
3 1/2 years since my SCI T10-12 and I have been using a Walker. I find I am pushing myself up often to get clearance height for my legs to move. I recently got forearm crutches but have been hesitant to try them until now. Thank you for the video!
Thanks for sharing and watching! I started right from the beginning with forearm crutched. It was very awkward. Eventually got used to it and only use my forearm crutches.
@@paralifetv-youreverydaywhe8314 Hi, how are you doing? Thank you for posting your video of how to use your crutches or your Walker to practise your walking everyday. Eventually you got used to it. Hope you get better soon! I will pray for your recovery to help you get better and stronger soon. Best friend, from, PaulLaw.

I use both a walker/rollator and a wheelchair but have always wanted to try forearm crutches. Thanks, I'll get a pair and give it a try.
Yes, give the forearm crutches a try and let me know what you think.

T-12 as well - I am trying to figure out a way to run -
I am T8 incomplete after 9 1/2 years i’m ready to try crutches. I’m finally getting the KAFOs I need.I can stand and move forward a step or two without them but I wouldn’t consider it safe. So I don’t
Great demonstration, I just connected with you btw

Hey I live in the US but buy all my medical equipment from Europe because their equipment is so much better (like their healthcare system). They have crutches with shock absorbers, silicone grips, and crutch tips that swivel (with absorbers too) and are able to grab 100% of the surface at all times for better traction as well. The type you are using remind me of the kind they have here that just slowly destroy your hands, elbows, shoulders..... it is like punching the ground with every step because there is no shock absorption whatsoever and you risk more falls because those tips will wear on one side only because everyone uses a different position. The wheel chair is nice though.
Hey Bruce Villa - Very interesting. I'm going to search for European medical companies that provide those types of crutches. The rubber tips get worn down so fast. Always replacing them. And I find with the crutches I've used they always end up making clinking and clanking noises. I can't sneak up on anyone! Thanks for watching!
@@paralifetv-youreverydaywhe8314 Check these out. I have a pair of these and they are (IMHO) the best crutches out there. th-cam.com/video/SNiQn8YeBgM/w-d-xo.html
@@brucevilla7490 Yes sir! Now those lok comfortable. I'll be looking into a set of these
Thank you!
is there a link for the European crutches?
I noticed you swing your hips a lot to get your legs to move forward but you are much faster with the crutches than the walker, however with the walker you could sit down if you needed to.
So does a wheelchair. You can carry crutches on a wheelchair. You can’t carry. A walker. Therefore it makes crutches more efficient:
On concrete no less. Yes, I would stick with the forearm crutches. The Walker seems much too low in height, which would help with balance but nah lol
I agree! I had the walker high as it would go. I feel more secure with the crutches.
Brave walking. Never tried underarm crutches?
Thank you for watching. Yes, I used to walk with underarm crutches from time to time. Preferred the forearm crutches.
@@paralifetv-youreverydaywhe8314 Hi, how are you doing? Brave walking. You never tried underarm crutches. I really like watching this video because this is so helpful. Best friend, from, PaulLaw.

Are you using KAFOs to stablize the knees and ankles?
Good question! I use AFO's on both feet to help stabilize overall. I wear them every time I go outside for yard work, if I go into town, workout at the gym, drive... they help reduce the spasms in my legs. Otherwise my legs would be bouncing uncontrollably. I have a walking video where I show my AFO's. Thanks for watching.
Driveway long🐿️
Yup, it's a long one! I'm glad I'm not the one who clears it in the winter! Thank you for watching!

Thank you for visiting!
I believe if you want to give them more of an objective trial then you need to use the walker for at least a few days if not a few weeks that way you get used to it and then you could have a more objective opinion. When I was listening to your commentary it sounded like a lot of your difficulties with the Rollator walker were due to inexperience. Whereas you are used to/comfortable with the forearm crutches and more inclined to use them/prefer them. If you listen to your commentary objectively I believe you may hear the same thing. I am not saying that the walker would be better for you just that I believe you didn’t give the Rollator walker a fair chance. A walk up and down the driveway isn’t really going to give you a good idea unless there is some kind of massive fail That can’t be easily corrected Or a massive improvement that is easily noticed.
HI Matthew thank you for watching and I appreciate your feedback. Very true. I jave been using forearm crutches for along time. What I don't think I mentioned in the video was when I was first injured my first aid to help walk was a Rollator walker. I worked with physio for weeks using the walker. I couldn't seem to find a rhythm back then. I then tried forearm crutches and found comfort and rhythm right away. Again, yes ... after all those years I could give the walker a long go!
