    For me, personally, the Wanderer poem from the Exeter Book leaves me with the most profound feeling of loss with regards to hall and society status, a truly a profound work.

    Always so much care and detail in all of your work. A very good resource for anyone with an interest in Anglo Saxon paganism.

    Very thoughtful, interesting, & enjoyable Sharyn. There seems to be low level commonplace gift giving, then higher level, like rings which came with a higher price so to speak. And fancy that the Dion & the Belmont's hit, The Wanderer has a possible Anglo Saxon origin 👍 Nice axe twiddling btw

      Thank you, Frank. Glad you enjoyed it. Might be some more weapon twiddling in part three too : D

    What are fens?

    • @wildwoodrunester
      @wildwoodrunester  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are several parts of Eastern England that are referred to as fens. Nowadays, after the Dutch engineers came over and drained them, they are flat, generally at sea level, beautifully rich agricultural land which is criss crossed with drainage ditches. However before the Dutch came they were marshy and hence the reason people jokingly say us fenlanders have webbed feet - we don’t, or at least I don’t. Wicken Fen - just down the road from where I grew up - is probably now as good an example of how it used to be pre-drainage. Spent a lot of time there as a teenager.

    When you say they lived out in the fens, what is or are the fens?
