He wrote and recorded the song in ...., but unfortunately he died in a plane crash, before he even heard the final version.

I cannot believe I did not know that Otis died in a plane crash. I have one of his CD's with the song on it and play it often. I loved Otis when I was a teenager and I am 79 now. Now I know why there is not more music by this talented man. Thanks for the post.
