67 yr old sound cat/ musician here- I remember when this song first came out !!! GF, Aside from a GREAT musical selection, your groove is so euphonistically pleasing and enjoyable to listen to that I HAVE to believe that your a teleported old soul born in 1975 that's been playing 5 decades!! Nice licks kiddo, keep it up !!!!
I am a pianist/vocalist that just picked up the bass for the first time to help my church out. This is SO inspiring. Makes me wanna practice harder. Thank you!!!!
Who in the world would dislike?! You are a real talent!! I keep wondering if you’re a Berklee alum? Or Juliard? Maybe The New School in NYC..? -GREAT PLAYING! Regardless👏👏👏
Nice Sandberg! Great job! Thank you for doing this. You helped me learn “Aja” and my wife is very impressed. I just started playing 2 months ago and I never thought it possible to progress this quickly. Thank you! Thank you!
@@emiliendollars I’ve been listening to it since the album dropped September 1977. That album changed everything for me concerning music, so those lines are carved deep in my mind and soul. I watch a lot of ppl doing what you do but you have a way of communicating that goes beyond just sitting there. I dunno…you’re very inspirational.
@@emiliendollars I actually bought a bass as a quick money making deal. I got a Cort Arona 4 which has the Sandberg hardware and an old, but mint condition Roland 60 watt Cube (the orange one) and Vox practice headphones with a bunch of other goodies for $360! But when I got home, I thought I would try my hand at it and in just about a day or two, learned “Tin Man” by America. I knew right then that I needed to keep it. It’s so much fun! I know I probably need lessons and that will expedite the learning curve.
Watching this younger generations getting into Steely Dan warms my heart. There is so much to learn about harmony, chords and voicings from their stuff. Sounds chill groovy and easy, but it is tricky and they might break your head for a while until you wrap your head around it. Then you pay attention to the lyrics, and it is a whole world of really messed up stories and characters while you were too distracted with their sense of harmony. How long did it take you to learn this one BTW? I mean, from hearing the song to be able to do the whole thing comfortably in one take? The bass lines in this album are kinda tough, but so worth the effort.
I actually spent 2-3 weeks learning the entire album as an assignment at my university, so I'm not sure how much time I spent on each song😅 But I definitely learned a lot in the process!
Thank you! Yes, the plan is to do them in that order, but it might take a while lol. I learned all of them a few months ago, but I keep procrastinating making the videos and I might have to learn some of it from scratch again 😬 I'm sorry for taking so long😅
Great cover from the classic album Aja. Well done. You might like to try Gaslighting Abbie next. I thought I saw you with a 5 string in another one of your videos
@@emiliendollars I had this song stuck in my head literally when I saw this reply. Maybe I'm a psychic. Go at whatever pace you like with this stuff because I'm totally gonna be here for it when you upload.

ALWAYS Steely Dan. These base lines are SO good.
what a good methodical instrument player.
When I heard it in 1982, I thought it used stylish chords. The fingering is beautiful.
You played that great! Steely Dan is one of my favorite bands of all time; absolute joy to listen to and this is one of their best songs, IMHO!

Have never heard/seen a bass cover of this song before. You really studied it well and it was interesting to watch. Nice playing!
Great cover!
Excellent. Walter Becker, what a complete genius he was and his stuff lives on within us and without us. You do him proud, I’d reckon.
I like so mutch Emilie. Congratulations.

Amazing cover ! Looking forward to watching you play the next one (I suppose you are playing them in the same order as they appear in the album :p)

What kind of bass is that?

I really enjoyed your bass playin. Good job! How do you record your bass audio usually?
Thanks! I just plug the bass straight into the audio interface
Such a smooth sound~ Excellent work, Emilie! Btw, have you considered doing anything by L'Arc en Ciel? :)
Thanks! I haven't really listen a lot to L'Arc en Ciel, but I might try when I get time. Do you have any cool songs you'd recommend?

I'll probably manage to dye my hair every color at least twice before uploading anything if I keep being this unproductive🤡
