So hard to find great bass covers with the right feel but you nailed this one, my man.
Much praise and props for laying that bass out.
Just realized how heavily syncopated that bass line is! Like wow, really strong syncopation. Surprising it doesn't tip the whole canoe over (rhythmically speaking, of course)
Maybe, but Chuck never waivers. Never loses the pocket, even for a second. Like one big funky atomic clock!
I'm an old guitarist and new bass player. We are doing this tune, trying to learn it quickly (never had to slap before). Great job, I think I'm getting the feel for it!
SPOT ON! Well done, man. This is note for note, perfect! If you haven't heard the Chuck interview with Rick Beato, you have to hear Chuck tell the story of how Becker and Fagen were adamant about him not slapping and how Chuck 'snuck it in' ...great stuff! Very funny.
Absolutely perfect. Much respect to you.
100% on tune! excellent
I've seen others cover Peg but they didn't include the slap lines like Chuck did thank you for doing so great cover
Splendid bass line!!!🎸🎸🎸
Damn this never gets old.
Nicely done note for note i really appreciate that!!!
Perfectly done!
I have been playing way too much on this one. Thanks!
Most bass cover videos lack the soul of the original. But i have to say you NAIL IT 🔥
I've looked at several of these videos, and what I notice are the grace notes are mostly missing. They are subtle, but effective.
Joeyb4ever, exactly! Came here to comment the same thing. Many players, including this guy, play this with 7-note phrases (three strong notes, 4 weak ones) instead of 8.
DUNT, DUNT, DUN
do do do deet
Instead of
DUNT DUNT DUN
(do) do do do deet
Parentheses represents grace note. T represents a more staccato note
He's a really good player, tho! Really good!! Just didn't pick up on that one very subtle grace note.
(maybe it's so subtle because it's not in there. I might be hearing something that Chuck Rainey didnt even play, lol)
That was awesome! 🍻👍🏾
Excellent playing, nailed it!
Very unique bass line, which was well done.👍👌
Very good, musical
Nailed it! (Nice bass too!)
So good, that's what it is. So very well done.
This is super cool & sexy. Watching it helps me hear the bass line so THANK YOU
Great job !
thanks! i figured out about 60% of it but this completes the picture.
Solid!
Love your bass cover for this song 🎵

After a long time I've watched this again. I wanted to push the like button. But it's too late brother. I've had already pushed it at first time.

This is actually a simplified version of Chucks bassline. No disrespect intended.
That my song
That's MY ssoonngg!
you look like Obama !! great playing
What model Yamaha is that?
kewkabe BB2024X
Thanks. Because of your video I finally bought a used BB2000 today from my local music shop (had my eye on it for awhile). It's heavy as hell, but what a tone!
I also see that you play with the relaxed fingers of someone who's done his share of gigs with hour-long sets over the years. I always cringe when I see youtube bass tutorials with their strained fingers that are going to last them about two songs at most if they ever were to gig.
kewkabe have lots of fun with your new Yamaha bass. Keep practising!
What kind of bass is that?
