As an 82-y-o man I have found your videos to be very helpful. I have been going through some stress and this is the very last thing I want as I approach the end. So I find that your choice of music and your videos have had a very calming effect. And for that I am grateful to you.

I wish I'd learned it earlier, as well. Or, given myself permission to stand up for myself and to expect more from people and from life. Sadly, I was conditioned, early on, even expected, to settle for whatever life threw me, and to be happy about it. So, that's what I did. The 'grin & bear it' mentality. I sure put up with a lot, for a long time, before I realized it was ok to expect respect. So glad she learned it earlier... So glad we learned it, if later in life. Everyone deserves respect. Must expect it!

Thank you all for your wonderful letters, comments, and messages. I find it very difficult to reply to everyone, but know I read and appreciate it very much ❤️
Everyday I try to not let negative experiences stand in the way of making progress in my own life. After going through some very damaging and abusive relationships in my late teens, I seek to reach out to others who are potentially dealing with similar situations, presently or in the past. Your age, gender, race, spiritual/religious beliefs, diet, etc is never - and will never - be a valid reason for someone to treat you with anything less than respect. I believe people who have ill intentions towards others are often very hurt themselves. They have forgotten, or have never been taught, to properly love other humans. Sometimes they come to a point where they wish to heal their hearts and seek help, and sometimes they don’t. But that is their burden to bear, not ours.

My problem is the OPPOSITE ;) People complained through my growing up years that my being ADHD was a pain--I was loud and like can't even hold a conversation--like even now LOL. So your so called 'nervousness' I see as STRENGTH I would not even call it nervousness but a quiet peace and calm. The only person(s) who related to me were professors and my advisor. Even today (as you can tell from my repsonses) is slip shot to the point. BUT I am who I am --as for relationships I can't even hold them down not because of them but me LOL --think I do better with dogs in any event you rock ok? As for my ADHD as my graduate advisor says, HEY you are gifted bright who cares what they think go change the world with your intellect later keep rocking

Don't give that power to other people. Own it. Who are they to judge and criticize anyway, flawed humans themselves who refuse to look inward but project their negativity onto others. Its usually out of pain or self-loathing that people hurt others. I agree with you, will never understand the unkindness but I know where it comes from at least. You are probably an INFJ Empath like myself. People love to hate those at peace because they themselves don't posess it. That's what I found in my growing up. The world needs more people like you. Dandelion is one of the best things you could eat. Especially if you have bad people around you or bad thoughts, they help reducing the heat of a flaming body. You need to balance them with something warming, so maybe a dandelion warm tea with a little lemon.

As an empath, you take things a step further. You actually sense and feel emotions as if they’re part of your own experience. In other words, someone else’s pain and happiness become your pain and happiness.

As a recovering person, who used to be very naive, trusting, believing in the best in people, too nice - I too have attracted people who took advantage of it throughout my life. I've only started to finally see this pattern so clearly well into my late 30s. I now stop and greet my reflection instead of looking past the girl in the mirror. All she ever wanted was her own love.
I have struggled with self worth in my life and my quiet alone time makes me feel safe, centered and loved. I love creating art and poetry. I connect with myself when creating.
I have learned to be more assertive and confident at my young age of 63. Still growing and learning as every day unfolds. I overcame 20 years of bulimia and I am so proud to be the person I have become. Never would I have gained strength and built character if not for my challenges in life.
Thank you, Paola, for sharing your life. Your experiences help me feel that I am not alone. I look forward to your beautiful self in all your videos.

If you get negative feedback or criticism you must be doing something right! A very successful hotelier once told me years ago as I was decorating his hotel for Christmas, " I don't care if people love it or hate it as long as they notice it. People will always be attracted to lights so let the lights shine brightly!"
The people who matter will always be attracted to your light. Let it shine brightly! And continue your art, your work, and your journey. Thank you for all you give to the world.

We would say you dodged a bullet. I'm so glad you had the insight and wisdom to say no to an unhealthy relationship that wouldn't value and support the person you and and want to become. May God show you a better way, and a better person in the future.

I've learned to expect people, especially someone I'm romantically involved with, to "put their money where their mouth is". Meaning, All those nice words and apologies and promises to do better don't mean anything if they don't change. If everything still stays the same. And, think of this... your fiance was probably on his BEST behavior while you two were engaged! Imagine how bad it might have gotten after you were married!. Even if we realize a relationship isn't and will never give us what we want and need, it still hurts to end it. We mourn for the dreams we had for the future. Then we're grateful we realized the truth before it was too late. I think you needed to end that engagement because there is someone so much more wonderful and caring and kind waiting for you. I'm praying for that for you! Love and Light.

Some people don’t understand people who have a creative and intelligent mind. For example just to name a very few: Jane Austin, Ernest Hemingway, Michelle Basquiat were considered odd, but yet their creative contribution in the arts left a great legacy to literature and the arts. If I dont like an artists work I move on, but never tick the dislike button. I look at every one of your videos Paola and love them all, you are a wise soul, I am 68 yrs old and can still learn much from you, you inspire me as a person, you inspire my art - I did my first botanic watercolour today while watching you. I dont see how you can command anything but respect. The fact that 92 people disliked this video shows they have no respect and I wonder why they cant just move on without being negative - Peter Rabbits mother used to say " if you cant say anything nice dont say anything at all". Its unimaginable that people abuse, or disrespect you, or make negative comments, they may not care for your lifestyle but more pity to them. Maybe they just weren't listening to your messages. Maybe they havent found the zen in their lives yet, and have a long way to go before they find themselves or at peace with who they are. You are so lucky to have found your way so early in life. As they say in Australia " good on you mate!!!!" Meaning well done you!!!!! Please dont stop making these videos Paola and thanks to Rohan too...watching him made me think he was in Australia too long ha ha.....we're all a bit mad over here ha ha. Enjoy your own day.🙏🥰

“To not agree with things just to be agreeable”. This has been my biggest struggle/self learning in relationships. I always try to keep the peace. but I have learned the hard way that it is usually to my own detriment. I’ve learned that keeping the immediate peace by truncating yourself leads to bigger problems down the road. I’m in the middle of one of those now much bigger struggles. Working on voicing my truths and holding my boundaries.
Thank you for sharing this. I felt the hopefulness of your story. I am glad you have someone now who is gentle and kind.

Your comment truly resonates with my own situation. I also tried to keep the peace, while the other person used this to his own advantage and as with you, led to bigger problems in the end. Standing up for yourself and setting boundaries, within reason, is more important than keeping quiet.

I love all your videos, but this one so resonated with me...I endured 5 years of marital abuse with a man who turned out to be a sociopathic narcissist. I was. like you, shy and vulnerable. He divorced me while my mother was dying, taking most of my possessions with him. I escaped with my life, but it took me a long time to realize how that life had changed, to trust again, and to be gentle with myself for not recognizing him for what he was, and for tolerating his behavior. He tried so hard, but he could not erase my essence. I'm now happily married to a wonderful man who is all the things he was not-honest, kind, and unconditionally loving. I also discovered how many of us there are. There is power in the sisterhood. Thank you for having the courage to share your journey with us.

These were my thoughts some time ago when I was alone with myself thinking about life:
    Life…
Life is about sadness, learning from it and how to cope with it.
Life is about joy and happiness, learning from it and share it.
Life is about emotions, learning from it and deal with it.
Life is about making mistakes, learning from it and move on with better knowledge.
Life is about making decisions, learning from it and becoming better at it.
Life is about caring for others, learning from it and being a better human being.
Life is about ups and downs, learning from it, adapt and overcome.
Life is about believing in yourself, learning from it and evolve.
Life is about taking a moment to contemplate your life, why you live, how you live and how you can improve it…
Enjoy your life while you can…, preferably with someone you love.

It is a relief to know that I am not alone on this journey of healing--for me, not only from damage done to me, but from my destructive patterns of seeking out people to rescue from their own destructive habits, who have into turn, hurt me. I know now that the only person I can hope to save or improve is myself. Others life work is their journey, and I neither have the capability or the right to tell them what their journey should entail. I am sad I had to learn this the hard way, but I am grateful for my strength and ability to heal and learn from suffering, and hopefully embody these lessons for others to understand and hopefully follow at even an younger age than my own--I am in my mid-twenties.
