@Lisa Mayor I was so shocked at that. But a house isn’t always a home. You know, how they say home is a state of mind. The Lover house represented her relationship with Joe. I remember being so shocked watching it burn, thinking What does that mean? I think the house burned down because the relationship was over. Didn’t figure it out at the time though.
I think the light bulb scene symbolizes her albums. After being canceled, people were saying her career was over. But then she put out 5 brand new albums(Reputation, lover, folklore, evermore, midnights), all successful. There are also 5 bulbs shining in the video with Taylor as the filament, while she's singing, "Ask me why so many fade but I'm still here".

Kanye had recorded it and then they edited the tape to make it sound like Taylor agreed. Then they started calling Taylor a snake and social media kept it going. Taylor disappeared for a whole year, but she rose like a phoenix from the ashes and came out with her Reputation album, while on tour she had this massive mechanical snake and called it Karyn.
Her 5 recent albums are what made me a Taylor Swift fan honestly. I like her new music so much more than the country stuff she was doing as a teen (it was okay but just not for me) but I really love her recent music.

My immediate thought about the pearls was how the Roman goddess Venus, goddess of love and beauty, was found in a clam shell and then ice spice makes her first appearance in a clam shell.
This also gave me "The Birth of Venus"-vibes first. However, this also seems to reference the "Bejewled" music video with the shell-formed necklace at the beginning and maybe also the floating diamonds on the 3rd floor - as pearls now though.
I think those guys flipping her off seem more like grim reapers. They're pissed at her because she "came back from the dead" time and time again. I also wouldn't be surprised if they were supposed to represent Kanye, Scooter, and Scott.
This is a favorite moment for me. I agree they’re grim reapers and I love that while they’re giving Taylor the finger, she’s blithely smiling and waving back. This fits beautifully with the overall theme of karma. When everything’s going your way you are likely to feel pretty relaxed and cheerful. And Taylor has the upper hand: It’s three and o, Taylor vs. her nemeses. (I also imagine they represent Scooter, Scott and Kanye.)
I think the lightbulbs are a hint for 1989. 1989 was her 5th album, hence 5 lights, and a lyric in Welcome to New York is "The lights are so bright, but they never blind me"
In look what you made me do, Taylor takes off her mask at the line “all the they think about karma” and in the Rep section for the Karma music video, she is also wearing a mask which she then takes off. Also the grim reapers flipping her off could represent the stolen versions of the three albums she just re-recorded: Fearless, Red and Speak Now

She is also referencing to the Disney movie Moana where Taylor is the island goddess Te Fiti, who’s heart has been stolen to give mankind the power of creation. Moana’s island is dying due to a darkness and she needs to voyage through the seas to restore the heart of Te Fiti. Exactly the same way as Taylor and Ice Spice voyage through the seas on the boat.

In astrology, time and karma are ruled by the same planet (Saturn), which balances the scales over time. People with strong Saturn in their charts tend to have a harder time early in life but over time receive long-term rewards, because they had to build things that last. Like the pig building the brick house, they reap the benefits long-term. I think that’s what Taylor is expressing with time being involved. Like how eventually the truth came out about Kanye and Kim lying, but at first Taylor was the one who suffered. The truth and goodness are more sustainable over time than lies and manipulation.

Looked up how the video was made and it said the planet Taylor lassoed is supposed to be Jupiter, even though it looks like the moon to me. So I'm thinking its representative of each of their astrology signs.

She often likes to just refer to past projects as well as hint to meaning and future projects. -There were 5 birds flying in the Charon scene. 1989 is her 5th album. -There are 5 lightbulbs when she bursts. Her 5th album was one of her most massive successes and what really pushed her to S-tier celebrity. It's also the album era during which her light was put out again. She burst and she's about to burst again but all the good karma will come to her this time around. -The 3 reapers *could* be a more modern/artistic representation of Thanatos (death), his twin brother Hypnos (sleep) and his sisters Keres (spirits of violent death) When portrayed with his brother Hypnos, Thanatos represents a gentle death. When portrayed with his sisters Keres, Thanatos represents a violent, untimely death. ALTERNATIVELY, the reaper IS often considered one of the 4 horsemen, but this could just be a symbol that with Speak Now (3rd album) TV coming up, that someone on that album is going to experience a death in their career (Im looking at you, John Meyer). I love your sand/pearl theory! I'm also thinking it alludes back to the whole idea of karma, like if she gets a little "sand" under her "shell" she can turn it into something as beautiful & coveted as a pearl, like a song, which also showcases her resilience. Also maybe how she inspires and paves the way for other artists? She is the sand from which new artists create their own pearls. In addition, the two Taylors in the hourglass reminded me of the two Taylors in the Anti-Hero mv, but I'm not quite sure how that would be interpreted

I feel that the hourglass 3:18 represents the essence of karma; her good deeds (purple sparkle from the prev scene) are raining on her as time passes (the sand falls ⏳) and she gets to enjoy it
For me, the clock striking midnight at the end just represents the official end of the midnights era. After she released the album, she’s been posting different editions and mv’s, but in my perception this means it’s finally over.
I wrote this on another post, but “Wear your pearls day” is December 15th which is a Friday. Also she was wearing Pearl earrings in the Wizard of Oz scene. Oyster day is August 5th. It’s a Saturday but she has a show that day and 8 + 5 = 13. Maybe she’ll announce an album that night. Not sure of the light bulb scene except that she’s showing she’s still shining bright and it resembles a statue (awards). She looked so beautiful in that scene! I think the 3 horsemen represent the 3 albums she’s re-recorded. Wizard of Oz could be a double ref to both Clean and Wonderland from 1989.

what i took from the hourglass scene is that shes basically showering in it, doesnt seem like shes having a bad time. so im pretty sure its supposed to directly represent like what you put into your time is what you will get back from it, like its a never ending circle that will come back to u. which is metaphorical for flipping the hourglass again when the hour is up and the same sand raining back down on u. i probably explained that rly bad idk LMAO

I think the first three scenes of the video - justice, hell and country - represent the order of her upcoming TV releases i.e. 1989, Rep and Taylor Swift. Additionally, the reapers that flick her off may refer to the line 'haters gonna hate'. Note: there are three of them hence haters. When it cuts back to her sending air kisses it may also symbolise her love for her haters cause she can always prove that she deserves everything she has cause she's brilliant at her craft.
The last scene gave me “clouds in my coffee” kinda vibes, from “You’re so vain” by Carly Simons. Just as she is singing, Karma is my boyfriend and we see a depiction of a potential partner in the background, I can’t help but hear in my head “you’re so vain, I bet you think this song is about you.”

I think the lightbulbs fit along the lyrics "ask why so many fade but I'm still here" she is representing her endless inspiration (lightbulb moments) & their shattering may represent her thinking outside the box (shattering expectations & limitations).
The light bulbs show all her ideas and that each one blows up! The energy is so great it cannot be contained… and the lyrics show she isn’t the one that fades away… after all these years of delivering her music and being focused on the good despite those trying to tear her down she still shows them love no matter what anyone says .. The yellow brick road showing her side of the street is clean… she isn’t filled with hate… she remains in the light…

idk if anyone noticed but to me the outfits of taylor and ice spice in the boat scene really reminded me of ancient indian clothing that women wore, especially taylors upper and lower garments' draping, and ice spice's head having a veil, which reminded me of a lot of art depicting indian classics. its really interesting since the concept of 'karma' or 'karm' (meaning deeds in hindi and linked to the system of cause and effect) has indian origins i'd love to hear other peoples' thoughts on this, since this is what i thought when i first saw the music video, but taylorswifthockeybro's explanation also makes sense.
There’s five lightbulbs which I think references her fifth album aka 1989 as well as serves as a nod to “the lights are so bright but they never blind me” from welcome to New York. Definitely another strong hint that 1989 is next after the Speak Now re-release.

In the Dorothy scene, I think she's actually "Madeline" which is a child's book series that takes place in Paris. Madeline's best-known book is also about her having a surgery scar which would tie into Taylor's references to scars all the time; and Madeline isn't like other children, she's considered troublesome for asking too many questions and being too smart/precocious for her age. Additionally, the pearl iconography relates to the references she's made to 7/7, as well as the hourglass being symmetrical like 7/7 and the fact that she did Koi in Anti-Hero which is also related to the sign of Cancer (foreshadowing the 7/7 date). In The Hunger Games, which I feel she actually continues to draw iconography from and maybe even talks with the author of - due to the considerable amount of tie-ins to plot points. It would make sense that personally Taylor would relate to Katniss in so many ways. Also, Peeta gives Katniss a pearl during the Second Hunger Games, and for example you can find lot of lyrical/thematic references to each other in her songs.
At a second note, Dorothy's movie also takes place in both color and black and white, and Taylor has references to being screaming color and black and white, and lots of film references. The 1975 also does a black and white aesthetic.

@Meowtown News hi there. I think it definitely has to do with her five rerecordings and Mastermind. The light bulb scene is still the one I think has deeper meaning I haven't seen fully explored. 😕 I have a loose theory/tie in but it's more roundabout. We know Taylor just re-recorded the two songs she did for the Hunger Games and I wouldn't be surprised if she reprised and did a third song for the upcoming prequel. The author pulls a lot from mythology...so you could argue maybe their source material is just similar... however in THG Katniss fires an arrow during the 2nd HG and explodes the lights of the dome as her "Mastermind" moment, and it's also the moment she gets separated from Peeta. This echos a mythology about an arrow or spear being cast at the sky but for the love of swift, I can't remember which myth. I need more time. Taylor broke the glass ceiling so to speak with her re-records. Also in the AntiHero all the clues about her being a monster or giant or Goddess over some thing or place absolutely ties into all of it. Also the goddess Astraia (goddess among the stars) associated with Artemis, Justice, and Nike (icons she uses in the video) was armed with zeus's lightning and associated with Virgo. ETA... don't forget all the clock references and stuff in THG 😉
Sorry, I thought of more. One of Athena's epithets is Willow-bound, and associated with bulls. Taylor's works are chock full of literary and mythologic references self-referring to herself as an Anti-hero for far longer than we've had Anti-Hero. She understands that she can never be perfect, just like in Mythology all of the gods/goddesses are imperfect, full of folly, and make dumb choices despite all they are equipped with (ie artefacts, powers, whatever). Her power burns one of her lovers to death etc, she's the Stainless Maiden and never settles with men who always treat her poorly... we can go on. She's a lunar deity, loosely associated with (or associated with the goddesses of) protecting women in childbed/birth which ties into her song "Bigger than the Whole Sky" and the classical triple-representation of Selena (Moon, etc), Hekate (Underworld, etc), and Artemis (protector of women, huntress, etc). There's a lot to unpack. Dr Taylor Swift is much more educated than she's given credit for.

Coffee scene: Taylor writes most of her music at night. She gets inspired all throughout the night and writes till 3am or longer. Joe wrote a lot of music with her and was probably up during those 3am music sessions, playing the piano while she creates. I believe this shot of the coffee is a personal shout out to Joe that nobody knows but them. She has most likely brought him coffee at midnight more than once while writing new music during their all nighters.
I also think the shell in ice spices part could reference the little mermaid. And while the new version came out to theaters a few days ago, the original one came out in 1989 which could be an Easter egg?!

I have a feeling that she is going to announce Rep TV on August 20th on her last night in London. And she is going to drop it on November 1st. And self titled TV will be dropping on her birthday 13th December. Reasons for that: 1)We are getting TS11 on April and I think she will want us to focus on that album for some time. Taylor doesn't have a reason to rush the drop of her highly anticipated rerecordings. She has almost 3 month gap after that for her next show. Of course she will want to give us something and not make us starve. So she announces rep tv and slowly reveals song titles, cover art etc. Just before the start of her shows she will drop the album. I am guessing it will be dropping on November 1 st. (It's a friday) The original was dropped on November 10th so it's possible. Also the clock on the coffee cup from Karma music video has arms between 11 and 12. Maybe that is alluding to 1.11 which is 1st of November according to most of the world (except US) 2) Remember the Karma coffee cup. Blue nail polish is on number 8 and she announced 1989 on 8th month right? So everyone assumed Rep Tv was going to be announced on 2nd month (February) I think she wanted to throw everyone off and number 2 is not the month, but the day that it will be announced. Well, I think announcement in an iconic Wembley stadium would make more sense, and it is going to be hot topic because it will be the last show before she will not be on tour for 3 months (almost) Also this is clowning on next level but the saucer under the cup is round so 0????? 3) I think she will want to release both of her re recordings this year, end the eras tour and make fresh start with new projects (albums, movies) to 2025. If she releases rep tv on October for the new recording release she will choose her birthday, because her first album is her name and it was released in 2006, so debut it turning 18 this year!!! It would be really meaningful to release debut on her birthday. And 13th December is a friday! 4) The karma coffee cup has clocks arms between 11 and 12 on one scene. Maybe that's a clue for debut?? I think when we see Taylor and Ice Spice in the scene with the moon and Saturn that it is hinting to the lyrics from her song Seven on Folklore. Which is also hinting to August, so maybe 1989 will be announced on August 7, two days before the tour ends. But then again at the end when we see Taylor holding the latte and it finally ends on Midnight(12), that could also be hinting at December 7 which could be when 1989 is announced or released if it is announced on August 7.
I expect both _1989_ and _Reputation_ TV editions to be announced before the Eras Tour in the USA ends on August 9, 2023. And both will be released before the end of 2023.

In the lightbulb scene, at first we see three light bulbs. 3 could represent Speak Now TV which we know is coming next. Then two more light bulbs are shown, making 5 lightbulbs. It could mean that 1989 TV is coming next because it's her fifth album.
3:35 I believe the main thing about the hourglass is balance (aside from the time part)...there is an equal amount of sand each time but its distributed to one side at a time making it a great example of karma balance...and that karma takes its lovely time to take effect. :) GREAT VIDEOS btw!
I think the Yellow Brick Road sequence refers to “Out of the Woods.” I remember You took a Polaroid of us Then discovered (Then discovered) The rest of the world was black and white But we were in screaming color That scene in The Wizard of Oz takes place just after Dorothy has left Kansas in the black and white portion at the beginning of the film. 1989 is on its way. My guess is that it’ll be out around Thanksgiving. The latte shows a time just before midnight-a few minutes before 12, which I take to be December, so around November 27/28.
The gold outfit inside the hourglass reminds of the gold suit with garter straps she had on for the AMAs artist of the decade. She def had karma on her mind then.

I think it symbolizes Midnights era coming to an end and we can expect Rep and 1989 next. She’s walking to Jack as Midnights era is ending so they can get started on whatever TV album is next or whatever new album is next. Just my thoughts.

But another thing that I noticed, and I'm not sure if it was mentioned anywhere, but the order of the scenes might show the release order of the rerecordings. The 1st scene after the vinyl is the one with the 1989 writing, the 2nd scene is the reputation based scene, and the 3rd is the one that looks a lot like debut. This was already the rerelease order that most people have been speculating, but that just kinda confirms it imo.
The statue thing, with the date 1989 in Roman numerals, is 90% the fact that statues are given the date of their creation on the pedestal and I don't know if you know, but Taylor was created in 1989. Taylor makes a lot of references to the year she was born, not all of them are also references to her album. Like, yes, 1989 TV is imminent, but it's not necessarily the next. There's nothing really signposting her next album in this like in the Bejeweled music video. I think the two things I see the most are that and the two thumbnails (also known as her 5th and 6th digits) painted the color of her 5th and 6th albums. But I see the whole video as an Eras video. There's references and Easter Eggs to every one of her records, and that her nails are painted in the Eras colors is nothing new. She puts a lot of thought into her videos, and she loves to refer back to herself, but not every reference is also a clue to be deciphered. A scavenger hunt is not always a mystery to be solved. In the Dorothy scene, I think she's actually "Madeline" which is a child's book series that takes place in Paris. Madeline's best-known book is also about her having a surgery scar which would tie into Taylor's references to scars all the time; and Madeline isn't like other children, she's considered troublesome for asking too many questions and being too smart/precocious for her age.
Additionally, the pearl iconography relates to the references she's made to 7/7, as well as the hourglass being symmetrical like 7/7 and the fact that she did Koi in Anti-Hero which is also related to the sign of Cancer (foreshadowing the 7/7 date). In The Hunger Games, which I feel she actually continues to draw iconography from and maybe even talks with the author of - due to the considerable amount of tie-ins to plot points. It would make sense that personally Taylor would relate to Katniss in so many ways. Also, Peeta gives Katniss a pearl during the Second Hunger Games, and for example you can find lot of lyrical/thematic references to each other in her songs.

The light bulb scene is still the one I think has deeper meaning I haven't seen fully explored. 😕 I have a loose theory/tie in but it's more roundabout. We know Taylor just re-recorded the two songs she did for the Hunger Games and I wouldn't be surprised if she reprised and did a third song for the upcoming prequel. The author pulls a lot from mythology...so you could argue maybe their source material is just similar... however in THG Katniss fires an arrow during the 2nd HG and explodes the lights of the dome as her "Mastermind" moment, and it's also the moment she gets separated from Peeta. Sorry, I thought of more. One of Athena's epithets is Willow-bound, and associated with bulls. Taylor's works are chock full of literary and mythologic references self-referring to herself as an Anti-hero for far longer than we've had Anti-Hero. She understands that she can never be perfect, just like in Mythology all of the gods/goddesses are imperfect, full of folly, and make dumb choices despite all they are equipped with (ie artefacts, powers, whatever). Her power burns one of her lovers to death etc, she's the Stainless Maiden and never settles with men who always treat her poorly... we can go on. She's a lunar deity, loosely associated with (or associated with the goddesses of) protecting women in childbed/birth which ties into her song "Bigger than the Whole Sky" and the classical triple-representation of Selena (Moon, etc), Hekate (Underworld, etc), and Artemis (protector of women, huntress, etc). There's a lot to unpack. Dr Taylor Swift is much more educated than she's given credit for.

Coffee scene: Taylor writes most of her music at night. She gets inspired all throughout the night and writes till 3am or longer. Joe wrote a lot of music with her and was probably up during those 3am music sessions, playing the piano while she creates. I believe this shot of the coffee is a personal shout out to Joe that nobody knows but them. She has most likely brought him coffee at midnight more than once while writing new music during their all nighters.
I also think the shell in ice spices part could reference the little mermaid. And while the new version came out to theaters a few days ago, the original one came out in 1989 which could be an Easter egg?!

I have a feeling that she is going to announce Rep TV on August 20th on her last night in London. And she is going to drop it on November 1st. And self titled TV will be dropping on her birthday 13th December. Reasons for that:
1)We are getting TS11 on April and I think she will want us to focus on that album for some time. Taylor doesn't have a reason to rush the drop of her highly anticipated rerecordings. She has almost 3 month gap after that for her next show. Of course she will want to give us something and not make us starve. So she announces rep tv and slowly reveals song titles, cover art etc. Just before the start of her shows she will drop the album. I am guessing it will be dropping on November 1 st. (It's a friday) The original was dropped on November 10th so it's possible. Also the clock on the coffee cup from Karma music video has arms between 11 and 12. Maybe that is alluding to 1.11 which is 1st of November according to most of the world (except US)
2) Remember the Karma coffee cup. Blue nail polish is on number 8 and she announced 1989 on 8th month right? So everyone assumed Rep Tv was going to be announced on 2nd month (February) I think she wanted to throw everyone off and number 2 is not the month, but the day that it will be announced. So why she is not announcing on 2nd of August in Poland? Well, I think announcement in an iconic Wembley stadium would make more sense, and it is going to be hot topic because it will be the last show before she will not be on tour for 3 months (almost) Also this is clowning on next level but the saucer under the cup is round so 0?????
3) I think she will want to release both of her re recordings this year, end the eras tour and make fresh start with new projects (albums, movies) to 2025. If she releases rep tv on October for the new recording release she will choose her birthday, because her first album is her name and it was released in 2006, so debut it turning 18 this year!!! It would be really meaningful to release debut on her birthday. And 13th December is a friday!
4) The karma coffee cup has clocks arms between 11 and 12 on one scene. Maybe that's a clue for debut?? It will be released on 12.13?(or 13.12 depending on where you are in the world) I couldn't connect but it makes sense to my delusional brain lol

I think when we see Taylor and Ice Spice in the scene with the moon and Saturn that it is hinting to the lyrics from her song Seven on Folklore. Which is also hinting to August, so maybe 1989 will be announced on August 7, two days before the tour ends. But then again at the end when we see Taylor holding the latte and it finally ends on Midnight(12), that could also be hinting at December 7 which could be when 1989 is announced or released if it is announced on August 7.

Edit: Rewatching this music video kinda got me spotting Karma (lost album) easter eggs. Ugh, I'm totally clowning, but maybe the latte scene is: 1989 (nails) - Karma album (coffee) - rep (nails). Order wise, that would play into the Karma as a lost album theory (which is rumored around the fandom to fit into the brown-orange color scheme).
That one hairstyle in the Karma MV also matches the one in the LWYMMD MV, which links these two. Those scenes both show Taylor trapped somewhere;

But another thing that I noticed, and I'm not sure if it was mentioned anywhere, but the order of the scenes might show the release order of the rerecordings. The 1st scene after the vinyl is the one with the 1989 writing, the 2nd scene is the reputation based scene, and the 3rd is the one that looks a lot like debut. This was already the rerelease order that most people have been speculating, but that just kinda confirms it imo.
The statue thing, with the date 1989 in Roman numerals, is 90% the fact that statues are given the date of their creation on the pedestal and I don't know if you know, but Taylor was created in 1989. Taylor makes a lot of references to the year she was born, not all of them are also references to her album.
Like, yes, 1989 TV is imminent, but it's not necessarily the next. There's nothing really signposting her next album in this like in the Bejeweled music video.
I think the two things I see the most are that and the two thumbnails (also known as her 5th and 6th digits) painted the color of her 5th and 6th albums. But I see the whole video as an Eras video. There's references and Easter Eggs to every one of her records, and that her nails are painted in the Eras colors is nothing new.
She puts a lot of thought into her videos, and she loves to refer back to herself, but not every reference is also a clue to be deciphered. A scavenger hunt is not always a mystery to be solved. It's just stuff to collect.

The shell and the 12 on the clock also show up in Bejeweled - right at the beginning - the pocket watch she grabs - it's in the shape of the shell and the time is 12.
