    This is the most informative video I've found on the entire internet. I really wanted more clarification about the Banks/Sensors locations. Mechanics give me anxiety and I don't trust them so I'm doing this at home with the man.

    Don't bother with the 02 sensor doohickey for the removal.Clip them wires since the new unit comes with its own wires and connector end and sink a deep socket over that sucker. Removal is the tough part where I want to the best grip on that thing to get it out. Install use the attachment. IMO anyways.

    • @CRAWLTV
      @CRAWLTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Nathan Godin That's a GREAT point, Nathan! Regardless, you'll need the tool for the install, but these things can be stubborn to get out. If you know the sensor is bad, by all means, cut the wires, use a deep socket, and put some muscle into it. Great comment! 👍🏼

    From my experience, having many o2 sensors go bad, spend the extra money on the OEM NTK sensors. The Bosch “universal” having longer wires doesn’t communicate as well with the computer so the information has farther to travel as well as not being a glove-like fit in the 4-pin plug.

Cause it always throws a engine light and I can’t start my Jeep with the auto start. So…. Your videos rock man. Keep it up.. SC representing..

    TL:DR - You might not have a bad CAT - it might be cheapo (aka bad) O2 sensors. Buy NTK or OEM sensors (it's worth the extra $).
    Was down a rabbit hole not being able to get rid of a P0420 on my 2011 JK Wrangler. Ended up replacing the bank 1 O2 sensors with a Chinese brand off Amazon thinking that would fix it - NOPE! ... tested replacement o2 sensors and they were giving off too high 6 ohms across heater element. CEL's for "high-voltage" persisted (NTK & Mopars give off 3.5 ohms).
    Almost bought new Catalytic convertors (also tried cleaning the cats & even using the spark plug non-fouler trick but CEL's persisted due to cheapo O2 sensors - non-foulers will not work if your cheap sensors are sending incorrect voltages to the PCM). After much research, discovered the JK is super sensitive to o2 sensors. Ended up buying the NTK brand and they worked perfectly. DO NOT USE ANY OTHER o2 SENSOR on a JK than NTK or MOPAR (Bosch is too sensitive and will trigger CEL's). NTK website has a part lookup function (note: upstream and downstream are different part numbers). NTK are more expensive but TOTALLY worth it. Cheap sensors are not worth the hassle.
    Another key tip: O2 sockets are not meant to "break loose" difficult sensors - the wrench (link below), with a hammer, worked perfectly for breaking loose the sensor (after broken loose, then you can use the slotted sensor socket). Also, use PB blaster the night before. Note: Always use a thread chaser & high-temp anti-seize before inserting new sensor www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00I6TBHE0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1

    For the Crawl TV 02 sensor install not sure if you realized the part number you were installing which was a Bosch 15510 which is a downstream 02 sensor that you installed upstream. Correct me if I’m wrong...

    I literally just put a new upstream O2 sensor in and an hour worth of driving the engine light comes on and the code is P0132 on the sensor i literally just replaced. Clearly it can’t just mean a bad O2 sensor. Literally a spanking new sensor gets P0132 in an hour.

    • @Davehere68
      @Davehere68 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If there is no drive-ability problems it's likely a ground issue. The jk's bulk ground in an awkward spot. Likely not a sensor problem at all just a broken loop. This will set off the code always. 2 of the sensors don't share a common loop to the rest as far as I see in the schematics.. A good Ohms (resistance) probe will help.... Cheers!

    got recurring o2 sensor code on wrangler 2005 tj...tests of o2 sensors come back good...so the computer was changed and the 4 codes continue to flash

    • @CRAWLTV
      @CRAWLTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wt Ryan Ehat have you been reading the codes with? There should be stored codes. When O2 sensors go bad, they can become intermittent and cycle back and forth between open and closed loop. If there truly is no problem, you could have a clogged cat.

    • @ryansk9bootcamp
      @ryansk9bootcamp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thank you for your suggestion of clogged catalytic converter...at least you have a suggestion...the Dodge dealer is sending for another computer...they are stumped and I think they don't have enough experience....is the a way to test the cat?

    • @CRAWLTV
      @CRAWLTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wt Ryan the best way to test the cat is to get a laser / temp gage and read how hot it is on both the high side and the low side. The exit side (downstream should be around 200 degrees (F) hotter. Ideally though, you'll be able to pull codes that will help you quickly identify what the problem is. The cat code is P0420 if I remember correctly.

    I have a conflict, you said your's was bank 1 sensor 1 however everything I am reading and from what the dealership tells me, bank 1 is driver side, not passenger side where you changed and described.

    • @CRAWLTV
      @CRAWLTV  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Barry Tobin I can assure you that bank 1 is on the passenger side. If you’re still not a believer though, just unplug one of your O2 sensors and see what the code is that it kicks out on the scan tool.

    Mechanic suggested I change both O2 sensors at the same time. After seeing this I'm doubting that's needed. Not sure which one is bad. Will the check engine light turn off after I replace it or do I need my mechanic to clear the code if I don't have a diagnostic instrument?

    ..my check engine light just came on. I tried pulling the P code by turning my key 3x but it flashed the code for a second then it vanished. Any repeat attempts only gives me a "done" message and no code. Is there any specific torque spec for tightening the o2 sensor?

    • @Airkoay
      @Airkoay 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No worries, well after I cleared away the code, it never came back on. I do still noticed the rattling sound of my upper exhaust towards the cat. Its rubbing against my heat shield and I have to constantly pry the shield. I suppose eventually I would have to replace my cat, if thats the case? Thoughts?

    • @Airkoay
      @Airkoay 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the response, the P0420 has been on for several months now. I guess sooner or later I would need to replace the cat, just waiting for the right time for to gain extra $$$:(

    • @Airkoay
      @Airkoay 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is. If you crawl underneath you'll get the rattle in the pipe between the two catalyst. Unfortunately you'll have to replace the catalyst eventually. The noise will get louder and you'll lose gas and power proficiency. Pending on which state you live in, like for me in PA, you'll need emissions.

    hi there - great video. I recently got the CEL with P0520 code on my '14 JK. Apparently this for a engine oil pressure sensor and is a common issue with Wranglers. Ideally I would like to get it done myself - thoughts/tips?

    • @CRAWLTV
      @CRAWLTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's actually a very common code believe it or not. there's a TSB (technical service bulletin) out for it for the 2014 JK / JKUs. I'd be willing to be that it would fall under warranty for you. This is a job that you can do yourself, but it calls for 4 hours of labor, since you have to completely remove the intake manifold to get to the sensor. The TSB is 18-034-14 REV A. It defaults to the high pressure mode when it fails to prevent engine damage, but I wouldn't continue to drive with it like that. Check with your local dealer first!
