I don't have a buzzing Ukulele but my friend does and it buzzes a lot on the E string. I checked all the nuts and screws nothing was loose but i found out that the bridge is not glued on it comes out. I didn't mess with it and just keep on looking for other problems. We tried to change the string but it still buzzes and we know strings are not the problem because I have the same strings on my ukulele and it works fine. I tried to put the string the opposite side it still buzzes but atleast it's playable now so thank you 💖. All this makes me believe the ukulele was factory defected and he didn't realise this at that time.
The bridge saddle is supposed to come out - but under string tension shouldn't rattle. Having the same strings on another ukulele is not an indication they are not the problem. The reason a string can buzz can be because THAT particular string has uneven thickness along the length. Another set of the same brand can be fine. Just a dead string. If you've ruled out all you mentioned, you are now into the territory of a possible high fret or mis-set / bent neck
@@GotAUkulele actually we discovered the problem few days ago and it had nothing to do with the strings nor the bridge. Under very careful observing of the Ukulele we discovered that there was a Crack on the Nut and it was only on a perticular string and that was the reason it was buzzing. And fixing the Nut will be one of the most annoying and time consuming job so the owner decided to just leave it and buy a new ukulele.
Thanks for this! I had a buzz on my A-string at the 3rd fret, and a couple of others higher up the neck. The Uke was a cheapy tanglewood, but I love the sound, so I took it a luthier. He wanted to charge me 120 quid to redress all the frets and suggested that it might be ultimately pointless anyway. Watched this video, slipped a rizzla under the bridge at the A string and the buzz is gone. My only Hawaiian uke has just developed a buzzing on the first string only at the 5th fret and I changed the string but no dice. Could be fatal... hehe Yeah... annoying, but after your tips, I'm done like dinner about this uke.
When I say 'fatal' I don't necessarily mean unfixable - but the sort of thing that isn't easily fixed at home - might need frets re-dressing or a neck reset. Both are possible though!
Thanks man, my top string bolt had come loose but it only rattled when I played bottom string. Another tip would be to tip the Uke from side to side and look to see if you can see any movement, that’s how I spotted the washer moving.
Excellent advice. I've had buzzing on one electric-acoustic uke from the battery compartment springs(9V type) without a battery. So I stuffed a bit of polishing cloth to stabilize the springs when the battery is unnecessary.
Thank you for this video! Very helpful! I just noticed that my concert uke started making a buzz sound-at the saddle end-when I press the C-chord, but only at frets 1 thru 4; no buzz at 5 thru 18. There’s no buzz when I just play it free. All other chords are also fine. Is that common and what’s the likely issue? Tks.
Thank you for the reply. I flipped the C-string as you recommended and it seems to have worked. I’ll eventually change all the strings for better quality ones. Thanks again!
mine uke is a weird case. Some days buzzes, others don't. Could be the cold and the temperature changes? I used to keep my uke on horizontal position at nights, but I thought that maybe that position made some presure on the tuners (curiosly the only strings that buzzes where the middle ones, whose tuners where the ones that maybe could be affected by the "presure" I told). Y later discovered a bit loose screw at the third string tuner, and I tighted it a bit more. Since then and by keeping it on vertical position always, any problem (I hope it'll continue fine! :D) Your video helped me a lot, thank you :). You got my subscribe Sorry for my english
I had the loose battery case in one of my Uke's, I stuffed a thin bit of material in the slot to stop the rattle, I've also had Uke's with loose frets, this can happen with temperature changes apparently after they leave the factory. I think also frets that are uneven can be a pain in the ass, exspecially with cheaper Uke's making them unplayable higher up the fretboard.
+Shane Le Plastrier Yep - so many things can rattle - start with the easiest to solve first before worrying about more serious adjustments. It's just common sense.
I went from Aquilla super nylguts to Aquila carbon blacks, I now have a rattle and was wondering if it had to do with the different sized gauges of the strings.
Possibly yes - if your ukulele was set up just on the edge - ie action close to buzzing, but not - if you then put thicker gauge strings on you can suddenly create a buzz. Try a small shim of paper under the base of the saddle. Might be just enough to stop it.
The Uke in question is a Kala Solid Mahogany Concert. I bought it from Hawaiian Music Supply, and it came set up with the thicker Aquila Super Nylgut strings. They like to set their string heights between 2.5 and 3mm. When its not being played it has a hard case with a humidifier. Today I haven't noticed the rattle at all, maybe I was playing to hard. Still thanks for the advice if the rattle comes back I'll try that.
Great video, great pieces of advice. I'll check my buzzing "Khahlhah"... I improvised myself a uke-tech by lowering the nut with sandpaper to have shorter action and now... bbbzzzzzzzz bbzzzZZZZZzzzzz. When I press the strings at 3rd fret, there is still a gentle space (less than paper thick actually) between 1st fret wired and string but... I'll try everything you said, sir.
i just got my uke a few hours ago and it made a funny rattilng sound on the strings c and a. A fter watching this video i noticed the screws on the tunning things were loose. ww tighted it up and the noice went away. Thank you so much! :)
Helpful video. I have a baritone uke that has rattled for a while. It plays fine when strumming all strings open, but when I press on the first and second frets all strings rattle. The rattle goes away when I press the 3rd fret and anything higher. I tried flipping the strings and it didn't change. There is no contact with the high frets, so the overall action looks fine. The thing is, it played fine for the first few years. But 3-4 years after owning it is when it started acting weird. Any advice?
Thank you for your video. In my case, it's the second and third strings that buzz, and when I hold the gears, there's no buzz anymore. I already tightened them a little bit, but it hasn't changed. Do you think I should tighten them more or should I change the strings? Thanks
There is no point in tightening gears - doesn't do anything. if the buzzing stops when you touch the gears it sounds like something is defective in the tuner - not the strings.
So I feel like I've narrowed the buzzing down to a possible loose bolt. If they hold onto the bolt and the post the buzzing essentially stops but trying to tighten it does nothing. I'm guessing that means it's part of the post or gear that's loose? Is there a way to fix that or do I just need to replace all of the pegs? I should mention this is the cigar box that I purchased on Etsy. Wasn't expecting amazeballs quality but also annoyed that it buzzes.
Depends what bolt you mean - if it's a hex bolt on the front of the headstock - that can be tightened with a socket driver. Not sure where else a bolt would be on a tuner?
OK - you didn't mention it in your video. May I just say that I have watched LOTS of your uke videos and I have found them EXTREMELY helpful! The reviews helped me choose a new uke and the 'tips' re what to look for - bridge etc - action and stuff - all very very useful. I hope you'll continue making these!
You can also get buzzing from strings that aren't tied to the bridge right, make sure they're cut short enough not to touch the top while it's vibrating :)
Khromax do you mean the posts or the bolts that hold them on. If it’s the bolts you can tighten them with a socket spanner. If it’s the posts thenselves they sound defective
Hello sir I need some help I had bought my ukulele at the end of 2020 and I used it for about 2 months till 2021 February and until yesterday it's been over 6 months i didn't use it so right after I tuned it all the strings were working fine but just one note was buzzing which was c major when I do it it buzzes and I tried following many steps and also my technique is quite good so can you please tell me what is wrong with my ukulele. Only the c major is buzzing/ the 3rd box in a string. Please help me sir if possible 🙏
I can't without inspecting it in person. Have you run through each of the steps in the video and most importantly, have you changed the strings. No point in attempting any other fix until you have fresh strings on.
Hey guys I got my first uke several months ago. And whenever I play I hold down the strings lightly like literally putting my finger on it and adding no pressure. Is that wrong? because whenever I DO add pressure on it sounds out of tune. It does sound good if I pluck that specific string which I'm adding pressure on but when I strum the whole thing it sounds horrible. Can someone help me with this?
Could be a few things. Firstly you don’t want to squeeze the life out of the strings or pull them slightly sideways when you fret. Straight down and just far enough to engage frets. Could be your frets need dressing down (too high) or your nut or saddle are too high. Hard to say without seeing it. For the nut, when you fret third fret space string just just kiss top of first fret or leave gap as thin as piece of paper. Any more and that could be issue
Hi there, I have noticed that the bridge (the slim white bit that the strings lay on) on my uke has dipped under the c string, can this be replaced ? Thx
GotAUkulele - just taken a closer look and the strings are actually all the same height, the 'dip' is in front of the c string so it may have always been there and I just hadn't noticed it before ! Dosen't seem to affect the sound so I'll let it be, thanks for your swift reply. Pls could you look at my Q on your uke review of the Martin smith, many thanks for your time
Hi, regarding technique, I find that on my tenor ukulele, when i press in the middle of the fret, it buzzes slightly unless i press harder. However when i press closer to the fret wire, it sounds normal, and i need not press as hard. Hence i try to press closer to the fret wire. Is this normal?
Mine is all free strings, I'm not touching any chords, but when i do the "MY DOG HAS FLEAS", the C string and E string is keep on vibrating. So annoying af
Ruling out the technique is only part ot it. You still need to go through the other checks. Is it some other hardware buzzing? Is it bad strings? Rule those out next, then move on to the structural stuff.
All about a logical approach with buzzes. Start with the easy, only worry about the difficult when youve ruled out all the easy stuff. I once saw a guy online saying step 1 was to check neck was straight.. yes, buzzes can be caused by a twisted neck, but far more common it’s something simpler
Hey, ive just recently got a new Uke and im 100% certain that the buzzing is coming from the cords from the pickup and such touching the body, Ive tried putting multiple thin wires around the cords to hold them together, making them shorter-ish, but if i move from a position, it will just go back to buzzing. So it kinda works but not all the time. What do you think i can do about this??
Its a very common cause of buzzing. All you can really do is find a way to tape the cables down inside - which is what they should do when they fit them
GotAUkulele Thank you so much for responding so quickly, yeah I'll try some other stuff with it, god it's so frustrating, it's a KeAloha which I've never really heard of them, but apparently there pretty good as people have said. Thank you for the advice!!
It sounds fine. But when I try to play a chord it genarly sound like trash. So idk what to do it’s not buzzing. I sounds more muted. I guess I just don’t understand lol.
Hi, when I play the g chord the note I hold down with my index finger buzzes, I tried playing the index note by itself without the full chord and holding my finger down properly but it still makes a tangy sound. It is only that note that does it and I'm not sure what to do
MusicandVG there’s a problem but no way I can diagnose it without seeing it. (There are lots of ways to play a G!) - go through every item on the list and don’t move on until you are 100% sure you’ve ruled it out.
Hi, thank you for your response! It happens even when I play the string on its own, 2nd fret holding down the second string from the top. I have noted everything in this video but I can't seem to see any physical problems with the Ukelele. I'm on day 3 with my Ukelele, it's possible I'm not explaining my problem very well
MusicandVG if (and I stress IF) you ruled out bad strings (have you changed them) and other parts of the uke buzzing. - your strings are likely too low. You need a setup. But believe me - 95% of buzzes I see are cured by changing strings.
MusicandVG sorry that this is an old comment, but I’ve been having the extract same issue with my 2 day old uke! Only the second fret on the second string. Did you ever find a fix to the issue?
My new ukulele works just fine except the G string that is WAY louder than the other strings and it also makes some kind of "whistling" sound. Any solutions?
@@GotAUkulele no it's a high G and the string is made out of regular nylon just like every ordinary uke. The whistling happens only when the string is strumed strongly. It is a very unpleasant sound.
@GotAUkulele Actually i have a more precise description of the sound. It is like a mashup of the sound of the triangle (insttument) and another metallic sound.
Hi! i got a new Uke and i noticed on my way back home that it buzzes! when i play the A string normally it buzz but when i turn it upside down or putting pressure underneath the bridge it stops! It has a tuner in built in. Firstly when i noticed the buzzing it was on the G string but it stopped buzzing and started on the A string. The E strings buzz as well from the frets. Any thoughts?
I can't possibly answer that unless you have gone through all the steps in the video. Have you changed strings? Have you checked all other fitments? Have you tried to raise the saddle?
but is it normal that i need to really press down my fingers to the fretboard to avoid it making buzzes? i just got my new ukulele, it's tenor, and realized it has buzzing sounds (it has higher pitch) when i didnt press it hard enough. my old one is cheap (concert) but it doesnt need me pressing down hard to the fretboard. i thought i'll get muted sounds from bad fretting instead of buzz-y sounds. any idea, pls?
When I got my new Victory concert ukulele one of its tuning pegs was buzzing when played, but after a few weeks of playing the buzzing stopped, anyone know what it couldve been?
It can indeed, but I did address it generally - I would put that sort of issue right at the bottom of the list and as i say - suggest for those you speak to a specialist. This is a channel for beginners - I dont want to be advising new players get involved in fret dressing. The video is about eliminating the main causes in a logical way with a view to beginners being able to fix the simple stuff themselves.
I just bought a brand new concert uku bring it home and it's rattling. I call store and was told this happens with all new instruments bcse of the strings. I was told to stretch them and keep tuning back a bunch of times and it would settle. It's been 2 days and lots of Playing and still it sounds nasty. I looked closely at strings and on the C string from hole down the string isn't smooth, even after cleaning it, it almost feels bumpy?? Could this be why it sounds so gross? Should I return this and just order a sunstar uku online instead?
The store should be ashamed - this does NOT happen with all new instruments. They may be right if the strings are not fully settled - and that could take a few weeks (but you should still know before then if it is buzzing). Your experience with the strings sounds like old or worn strings which 'can' cause it, but still would only cause it if the ukulele setup was already too low. I would return it! Sorry - don't know what a Sunstar uke is.
@@GotAUkulele it was taken off shelf in back and it was in box and whole thing handed to me, they prob wouldn't of known. I'll go tomw and return. The sound is driving me nuts. A sun star ukulele!! @@GotAUkulele it IS a new brand lol. Bernadette teaches music reviewed one and I fell in love. She covered a light one but the dark ones are just as beautiful. They're fancy lol
That tells me everything i'm afraid There are lots of reviews on TH-cam that are really product placement. I don't allow that on this channel, which explains why the brand isn't here.. I'd return it. Good luck!
I'm having problems with the E and A strings, they buzz but when i bar or just press those strings, the buzzing stops. I've already changed both of them, the E string got a little better, but the A string is still the same :/
That would indicate that the buzzing is happening higher up the neck from where you are barring - so it could be a high fret. I would also check all other hardware such as tuner screws and collars
hey if you werent looking for the buzzing but the ukele making a noise by itself is a fly landed on a string and caused it to make a slight sound from the ukele loud enough to hear
I got a ukulele for Christmas and it’s really cheap I think the strings are bad but I don’t have any other ones although it had extras I don’t know anything about tuning ukuleles but I am really good at playing since my school has ukulele which I use to use please Help. I watched many videos how to tune I tune it perfect play it and then it comes out of tune and buzzes!!!!
I have a new ukulele with a terribly buzzy c string. I sent it back and the manufacturer claims to have done a lot of work but it still buzzes. the buzz comes from the saddle and I can suppress it by touching certain spots. I'm tired of fighting the manufacturer on this. I feel like they really don't pay attention. I have 2 other instruments that are fine so I know the difference. also, it seems to matter where I strum. if I strum over the sound hole, it is real bad. it I strum up on the fret boad, no buzz. any thoughts?
Sounds like terrible customer service there! Really, if you have exhausted all the steps in this video and it's STILL buzzing, you have a more critical fault with your instrument like the neck being at the wrong angle or one of the frets being too high. In my experience, 95% of buzzes are to do with strings or things like tuner washers or battery compartments. The balance is usually down to bridge or nut height. If you have changed strings, raised the bridge and nut but still have it - you really now need to take it to a specialist for something like a fret dressing or to check braces, neck angle. Seriously though, if it's a new ukulele and still buzzing I would demand a refund and get a different one!
is it normal that if i strum with a pick for my ukulele it buzz and the 3 of the strings buzz and sometimes all of them and my ukulele is soprano and weeks old and it also fell on the ground once
My ukelele strings don't play when I touch them so it's merely impossible to hear a g major because it silences three chords leaving one playing which is the G string and it's annoying I have only gotten a ukelele and it's so sad wasting all my savings I'm kinda really disappointed as well
Difficult to understand what is happening from a description - but it the strings are being muted because they are touching the frets when at rest - the action height of the strings needs raising. A guitar shop will be able to help you with that. Ultimately, with 99% of ukes - all those things are designed to be adjustable. So not necessarily a waste - likely it can be fixed.
Because if it’s a string or fret height issue, the action of holding a chord lowers the fretted strings. Because they are a bit lower they may create a buzz that otherwise isn’t there when you strum it open.
Re the buzzing - could be a host of reasons, from the easy to the difficult to deal with. The best advice is to following things logically to track it down - see - www.gotaukulele.com/2010/09/buzzes-and-rattles-on-ukulele.html
They are extremely annoying. But in 99% of cases are easy to fix. The advice to avoid are those people who tell you to jump in with both feet and start making structural changes to the ukulele. More often than not it can be solved with a string change or something else really easy. I saw a guy the other day saying the ONLY answer was to take it to a luthier to have the neck re-set... Amazing..
Only because it's a post aimed to counter the people that go for the difficult stuff first. But yes, cracks themselves can buzz, and can create changes in stability that create string buzz. But I would put those right down at the bottom of the list. In my experience, 99% of buzzes are either stupidly simple or solved by raising the saddle a touch
But obviously, if you have a noticeable crack in your instrument, you'd start there - in fact that is probably far more important to deal with than the buzz. Really don't think they are that common though
+dapeles1 I do pronounce ukulele properly - I am from the UK - I know NOBODY in Europe who pronounces it your way. It's called 'vernacular' - words change in meaning / pronunciation / inflection around the world. We have had ukuleles in the UK since the 1930's and pronounced the word YOOK -UH-LAY- LEE . Kind of the way it is here. So not wrong - to me!
+dapeles1 People who are French pronounce the name of their capital as 'PAR-EEE'. I am 99.9 percent certain you pronounce it PAR-IS (as I do). It's the same thing.
Yes I know how it's pronounced in Hawaii. I'm not Hawaiian though. Lots of words exist like that which change depending on where you live. Like I say - there are tens of thousands of ukulele players in Europe and I don't know anyone who pronounces it the Hawaiian way.
+dapeles1 Just some other words which come from England, but for some reason Americans pronounce differently - vitamin, aluminium, mobile, garage, herb, privacy. But you know, we Brits don't tell our American friends that they are not pronouncing these words 'correctly'..

That suggests to me that the buzzing was coming from the tuner itself - it can be surprsingly common
Excellent advice. I've had buzzing on one electric-acoustic uke from the battery compartment springs(9V type) without a battery. So I stuffed a bit of polishing cloth to stabilize the springs when the battery is unnecessary.
+EnoshimaUke Yep, sometimes it can be the simplest things
Excellent video Barry.
+Tommy Coughlin Thanks Tommy
Once I made my own zero-fret with help of a match and some glue. It worked out really fine 😀
Old guitar players tip - done the same with a cocktail stick
Thank you for this video! Very helpful! I just noticed that my concert uke started making a buzz sound-at the saddle end-when I press the C-chord, but only at frets 1 thru 4; no buzz at 5 thru 18. There’s no buzz when I just play it free. All other chords are also fine. Is that common and what’s the likely issue? Tks.
May S. Buzzes come from all sorts of places. You really need to go through the steps one by one. Have you changed the strings
Thank you for the reply. I flipped the C-string as you recommended and it seems to have worked. I’ll eventually change all the strings for better quality ones. Thanks again!
I'm scared to change the strings, I just got my uke yesterday and I'm afraid I might mess it up and destroy the instrument :(
Strings are meant to be changed - can't think of how you would destroy an instrument by changing them?
This is an EXCELLENT video! Thanks! Great job!
+Tavit Smith Thanks!
mine uke is a weird case. :D)
Your video helped me a lot, thank you :). You got my subscribe
Sorry for my english
+Mixthelightintogray My pleasure - glad you tracked the problem down
Thanks for your suggestions!
My pleasure
#2 you mentioned loose bracing on the inside. How do you deal with that problem?
Would need to remove old brace, remove glue and then re-attach and clamp. Big job.
i just got my uke a few hours ago and it made a funny rattilng sound on the strings c and a. A fter watching this video i noticed the screws on the tunning things were loose. ww tighted it up and the noice went away. Thank you so much! :)
Great to hear!
Fantastic advice! Thank you!
Pleasure!
Any advice?
Other than the points in the video really hard to say without seeing it in person. Possible high fret?
Thank you for your video. In my case, it's the second and third strings that buzz, and when I hold the gears, there's no buzz anymore. I already tightened them a little bit, but it hasn't changed. Do you think I should tighten them more or should I change the strings?
Thanks
There is no point in tightening gears - doesn't do anything. if the buzzing stops when you touch the gears it sounds like something is defective in the tuner - not the strings.
Then what can I do? When I shake it, it also sounds like there's a little piece inside. Thank you
Hard to say - but if they are defective you may need to buy new ones
I have the exact same issue, came here in hopes of an answer. Thank you for asking my question! Did you find a way to solve it?
Sarah Adriani nota really. The buzz comes and goes
Mine had a rattle on one string and it turned out to be just the nut on the actual tuning thing and I only had to tighten it
That's an extremely common culprit!
I do - it's covered in point 2?
Sorry, I missed that!
You can also get buzzing from strings that aren't tied to the bridge right, make sure they're cut short enough not to touch the top while it's vibrating :)
Very true
So my tuner bolts are movomg freely up and down and they buzz...what do I do?

Thx
It’s pretty hard material - so not sure how it’s dipped, but yes, they are replaceable, need to be re cut to same height and profile though
GotAUkulele - just taken a closer look and the strings are actually all the same height, the 'dip' is in front of the c string so it may have always been there and I just hadn't noticed it before ! Dosen't seem to affect the sound so I'll let it be, thanks for your swift reply. Pls could you look at my Q on your uke review of the Martin smith, many thanks for your time
Tez T that’s likely deliberate . Some ukes have that to compensate for the fatter C string
Barry Maz - oh right thank you that's reassuring, it does look smooth and even, as if it's deliberately shaped that way, thx so much.
I'm aware this is an old question but yes, I read pressing close to the fret is correct.
Mine is all free strings, I'm not touching any chords, but when i do the "MY DOG HAS FLEAS", the C string and E string is keep on vibrating. So annoying af
Sounds like your saddle or nut are too low
Sir, only A string of my ukulele is buzzing form the bridge end. I tried putting it differently but that did not help. Is it something serious
Need to work through the full list in order
When I use my fingers on my ukulele I use the tips not the fat part but it still muted or when I go harder it buzzed
Ruling out the technique is only part ot it. You still need to go through the other checks. Is it some other hardware buzzing? Is it bad strings? Rule those out next, then move on to the structural stuff.
thanks alot, turns out i just needed to read more on basics, which is common sense, guess i got a little too excited
Thank you so much
My pleasure!
It sounds fine. But when I try to play a chord it genarly sound like trash. So idk what to do it’s not buzzing. I sounds more muted. I guess I just don’t understand lol.
I’d change the strings before doing anything else
Btw.. tons more beginners tips (the stuff tutor books gloss over) here www.gotaukulele.com/p/beginners-guides.html?m=0
My E string is buzzing shen you play it and i tried tunning it and it still has it
Hard to diagnose remotely - have you run through every step in the guide?
Yess and its weird cuz when i play my ukelele in a open area it buzz but when i plat it in a small room it sounds normal
My new ukulele works just fine except the G string that is WAY louder than the other strings and it also makes some kind of "whistling" sound. Any solutions?
Not sure about the whistling but is it a low G and is the low G wound with metal?
@@GotAUkulele no it's a high G and the string is made out of regular nylon just like every ordinary uke. The whistling happens only when the string is strumed strongly. It is a very unpleasant sound.
random dude very odd and next to impossible to say without hearing in flesh. First thing I’d do though is change the string!
@@GotAUkulele thanks for answering that fast and also thanks for helping me!
If you just bought it - the setup is plain wrong and I would take it back
How can i quit buzzing. Of a. Fligth tus50 ??
I can't possibly answer that unless you have gone through all the steps in the video. Have you changed strings? Have you checked all other fitments? Have you tried to raise the saddle?
but is it normal that i need to really press down my fingers to the fretboard to avoid it making buzzes? i just got my new ukulele, it's tenor, and realized it has buzzing sounds (it has higher pitch) when i didnt press it hard enough. my old one is cheap (concert) but it doesnt need me pressing down hard to the fretboard. i thought i'll get muted sounds from bad fretting instead of buzz-y sounds. any idea, pls?
no, not normal
When I got my new Victory concert ukulele one of its tuning pegs was buzzing when played, but after a few weeks of playing the buzzing stopped, anyone know what it couldve been?
Not sure - with tuners buzzing it's often things like the front bushings working loose.
My ukulele has no screw to tighten the pegs what do I do ???
Leave them alone - sounds like geared pegs with fixed buttons.
My understanding is that also string buzz can be caused by fret problems as well, which you have not addressed.
In other words - i'd rule out ALL of these first before thinking about fret dressing..
That would indeed do it..
my 4th and 3rd string are buzzing when I play G and I hear a rattling sound around my tuners.

Thanks so much,we couldn't figure out what was going on until we saw your video thumbs up!
thanks!

Video applies exactly the same regardless of which individual string is buzzing.
I’ve had a ukulele for years and ever since I’ve had it, whenever I play C7, it buzzes. And it’s only for that chord.
Can only suggest going through the steps in the video logically!

I just changed my strings but it keeps on buzzing.
Then you need to move on to the other steps
@@GotAUkulele I found the problem it is was the nut and bolt on the head stock that was rattling. I just tightened it.
The sprite Is here yep. Hardware like that is often the culprit
I just buy a new uke today n the e has started buzzing
When I touch any string even so lightly it won't play so I thought it was either defective uke or cheap strings
Also I have an open headstock and I can hear buzzing because of the metal reflecting the vibrate of the string
And as a result of the strings not playing when even touched at the slightest it won't make a sound except flat sounds so it can't play g major
HELP my new ukulele for some reason makes weird buzz sounds on the headstock!!!
Really impossible to tell from that description - check all the hardward, covers for tuners, screws for tuners
I still don't understand 100%. when I play different ukulele cords my strings buzz, but when I just strum it without doing any cords I doesn't buzz.
Because if it’s a string or fret height issue, the action of holding a chord lowers the fretted strings. Because they are a bit lower they may create a buzz that otherwise isn’t there when you strum it open.
how to fix my ukulele the sound is super sharp and loud buzzing
Would need a LOT more information than that - what do you mean 'sharp', and what do you mean 'fix'. Buzzing could be a whole host of things.
when im struming the sound is sharp and the is like a vibrating or echo do you preffered to change my strings
weird sound like all my string is in the high note but i tune it properly
or would i say sound like electric guitar
I’d certainly do a string change before anything else. And overly bright or thin tone may be down to the core construction
Man ! U saved me from my mom🥺😭❤️🙏
How so?
My ukulele buzzes when I'm playing D7
Re the buzzing - could be a host of reasons, from the easy to the difficult to deal with. The best advice is to following things logically to track it down - see - www.gotaukulele.com/2010/09/buzzes-and-rattles-on-ukulele.html
what if only the second fret buzzes
Still a buzz, still possibly the action being too low - but could also be a need for the frets to be levelled.
GotAUkulele thankyou
I got a new tenor uke
Mine would not stop buzzing but I found that I would strum really hard and I would lift my fingers when changing cords so try that
Well... shit... My old ukulele i left out in the rain and my new one came with the buzzing
Buzzing can, in 99% of cases, be fixed. Just follow the steps in order
i just got my uke and my a string is buzzing.. its most likely just the way my step dad tuned it
Aubs The Llama could be - if the strings are too loose they will easily buzz
Just my C string is buzzing
Swap the string out? Is the nut slot too low?
@@GotAUkulele it's been working fine for about half a year. I have some extra strings so I'll probably switch it out
❤️
THOSE GOD DAMN BUZZES!!!!
Amazing..
i jumped at the intro
You have the same one as me
The c sound is buzzing
You say nothing about cracks
Only because it's a post aimed to counter the people that go for the difficult stuff first. But yes, cracks themselves can buzz, and can create changes in stability that create string buzz. But I would put those right down at the bottom of the list. In my experience, 99% of buzzes are either stupidly simple or solved by raising the saddle a touch
But obviously, if you have a noticeable crack in your instrument, you'd start there - in fact that is probably far more important to deal with than the buzz. Really don't think they are that common though
Thank you. I'm inclined to agree, totally: very helpful.
No hate. But I can't stand it when people string their instrument like that😤

Would you please pronounce ukulele properly it ooh koo lay lay. I'm from Hawaii
+GotAUkulele It's a Hawaiian word, so I'm telling you how it's pronounced in the Hawaiian language.
