Thank you for acknowledging that interior design is an ART! After retiring from a career in the arts, I am turning my attention to my home and my friends can't understand it. They think I need something more "challenging" to stimulate my creativity. But there's nothing I want to do more with my creativity right now than create a beautiful home that reflects the seasons.
Dear Gina, there is nothing more stimulating than creating your own home environment. I'm interested in early American history, so I have created that environment for my home. 1750-1840. Some antiques, some reproductions all of which are either garage sale finds, found on the road side, thrift stores and antique stores ( if the price is low). I find myself far more relaxed and looking forward to coming home in my created atmosphere. Go for it. Your friends will be amazed at your creativity.
Don’t you love the ancient rhythm of the changing seasons? They bring a familiarity and newness in all at the same time. Join with me as I restyle our bedroom and carefully select a couple of trendy pieces to celebrate the new hope and life that comes with springtime. Let me know which ideas you will be using in YOUR spaces, as well! Xoxo
There's something kind of magical about your videos. You have the midas touch where everything looks beautiful. Your lighting, your editing skills, and fun transitions are just amazing. I was trying to clean my kitchen, but I had to stop and make some coffee and savor every moment of the video. So beautiful! You're one of my top content creators.
Oh, I love that lamp shade! Can’t wait to see it styled. And velvet is my favorite! It’s so fun to see your style evolve but still stay so uniquely “you.”
Lovely. Yes, it's a room with spring freshness. The greens that you added remind me of the beautiful new grass that grows in the ditches in spring. It's such an amazing tone.
I just got rid of all my silk pleated lampshades!!!! Ugh😢 also got rid of 2 velvet dusty rose tufted cane club chairs😮. I had them in storage for so long and it was time to unload and clear out stuff. Mind you, my niece inherited them and was absolutely delighted. They are loved. 🥰
This was beautiful. I love the color green bcuz it means life. The chartreusey (? Spelling) colors in the plants. The grass. New baby weeds & all growing everywhere. Chartreuse is everywhere. I love the color blue bcuz it’s in the sky & the ocean. These colors change from storms in each & then from sunshine. I love the color brown. It’s the dirt that feeds the world. Farms, our backyard gardens, & all our wonderful plants that are our food. Those beautiful little plants that grow in our gardens in the springs. Oooh… this just becomes magical to me as I speak about all this in this paragraph. These are God’s colors of what he gave us when he created the world & the earth & all it’s flora for us. He has blessed us. It’s all just so beautiful! These are the thoughts that come to me when I think of green in spring. These thoughts swarm in my mind with appreciation as I’m thankful even before a fall’s harvest. Green, green, green. I LOVE the color green!
All of your projects are really lovely. You have inspired me to make a pleated lampshade, I have long admired them but I didn't realize how simple making one was. Your bedroom looks gorgeous dressed in it's green finery. Thank you for the very sweet video.
Your room is so lovely. I wouldn’t have believed that using that many different shades of green could look as beautiful as you made it look. You did a great job. I enjoyed this video.
Lovely spring refresher. It is so satisfying to create something new for the seasons or your favorite holiday. I just got some new linens, incl two duvets - amazing how much that changes the room's atmosphere depending on the colors and mood you are creating. If BrookLinen has turquoise sheets I may just indulge myself once more. Finding the right bedding suddenly made the old room color feel spot on again but I realized that the room still needs a lot more TLC, it has aquired that dreaded tired air. I have never been a fan of pleated shades but my next projects will include three lighting DIY's that I discovered today on one of my fav channels on YT. A DIY golden lotus shade will turn that old floor lamp in the living room into something special. I do declare I love that gold instead of cold stainless or silver is back on trend - my spray paint arm may just turn golden:).
Oh so lovely for spring!! And I was so excited to see your little greenhouse/terrarium, I've had the same one for years, found for 50 cents at a yard sale, and it is one of my all time favorite decor pieces :)
I love the green Sarah, it's my favorite color and spring time just makes me so happy. All of the beautiful shades of green are so refreshing. I love your tutorial, I have several lampshades I don't know what to do with. However I love the look of your whole room. It's so comforting and inviting not to mention how beautiful it is.❤️
There is something so pleasing about shades of green in our homes. Thank you for sharing the reveal of your spring refreshed bedroom. It's so cozy and restful looking.🌿💮
I pulled out my butterfly things last night too. After my last adult moves out this summer, I am headed to full blown naturalist type decor. Nature collections already took over my China hutch, but I plan to have all things nature inside. Many greens are finding their way in. It truly makes me happy.
Sarah, that has to be the best pleated lampshade tutorial I've seen so far.....no sewing!! I love pleated lampshades, and they are very expensive. I am definitely gonna make my own now after watching this! Your bedroom turned out so beautifully, I love everything about it!
I love seasonal decor! I, too, have the same piece, The Velvateen Rabbit 🐇 It is on a shelf in my 17yr old son's room this season!!!! My son and I debated whether it got to stay in his room or if I was going to use it elsewhere!! 😂 He won the debate. So, in his room it stays!
Good morning, I love the traditional / cottage core decorating. The lamp shade is gorgeous and a simple way of adding in that little extra touch of color. So clever & beautiful.❤
Your room looks so lovely and fresh! Love the sheep print and green velvet pillow! Those sheets look beautiful, and on my need list. I am just refreshing my home with Spring looks, so this was timely!
Love the outcome. The Velveteen Rabbit is my favorite. Also the velvet lumbar pillow. I have not been to Joann's in a long time but I think I need to go and check out the fabric. Always love your videos. Thank you.
Thank you. This was beautiful. I always learn something and have used several of your suggestions and tutorials over the last couple of years since watching you.
OMgoodness ... love this video, fabrics, and soft greens. Just this morning a friend told me about using rub and buff on a couple frames I thrifted (I have no experience with it) and here you are using it! You have great style. Thank you for sharing! 👍😊💕🍃☀️
Absolutely beautiful. Love the look of the green fabric on the mantle. You need a sweet bunny on the night table below your velveteen rabbit art. Love it. Love your cast sheep & lamb art as well. 🥰🐇💕
Watched your video this morning…made a pleated lampshade this afternoon! It turned out so pretty!! :D Loved your video and the lampshade tutorial! Thank you!!
I love your channel and i do love the use of the changing seasons in interiors....especially in linking to the garden and landscape. I have different rooms in my house with each a difference seasonal theme....my light filled kitchen is Spring and my dark study is autumn.....though i add in suitable seasonal plants and adapt them a little it means i can visit a different season in each room. On a grey wet day my floral, summery rooms cheer me up, when i need quiet and calm my cool, dark study is a lovely prayer retreat space. Your beautiful video has given me ideas for how to layer and adapt....thankyou so much.😊
I always enjoy your videos. This was fun to see what you created and how you used it. I love to see your vintage inspired home. The trend a few years ago was everything farmhouse. Now most of the homes i see are leaning towards the studio mcgee or amber interior vibes. I think a lot of those things are pretty but it is nice to see something more unique.
I live where there are four distinct seasons and I decorate for All four despite my allergies (Spring) and heat intolerance (Summer) and am thankful for antihistamines and AC 😆
Love love all of the varied shades of green. Color lifts me up as It is a breath of fresh air. I am also going to try that lampshade. I have watched other tutorials and they all seemed so difficult. Yours looks easy and turned out so pretty. Thanks
Ohh thank you for sharing the fabrics at Joann. I can foresee myself turning the William Morris print into a lumbar with a ruffled edge and pin tucks ❤
Good Morning! What a LOVELY video!! Thank you for supplying the tutorial and the sheep print information! You really are so dear and talented! I love your channel! Have a peaceful weekend! :)
Sarah - you are such a treasure! I love all of the spring decor for your bedroom - it's so very lovely! We had snow flurries yesterday and I was looking out the window to see how my bird friends were faring in the wind and cold! As I looked out, I saw my first crocus and thought 'time to decorate for spring!' I love all the green and the rich textures too!
I absolutely loved this video! Yes it has sparked me to add touches of Spring and use these fun ideas. The shade was beautiful so looking forward to seeing it used in a beautiful space. Thank you for all the cute illustrations and typing sounds. And the bedroom n tray!! 🌺🌺 nancy
So lovely, and perfect timing. I was going to be working on a pleated shade soon, and I didn't know I was going to re-style my fireplace mantel until I got inspired by how lovely yours turned out.
Wow turned out really beautiful! Love the sheep print, nest and sheep figurine. The colors you chose, the green gives that feeling of nature being pulled inside, it looks fresh quiet calm clean.
Love your decorating style, you pull together everything so beautifully. Just thought I’d let you know that the fabric you chose for the pleated lampshade (gorgeous) is not ‘knock of silk fabric’, it’s Tana Lawn by Liberty of London, very beautiful and prestigious fabric company from London 😉
Girl.... ALL my favorites!!! and you are SoRight!!! I love the green, velvet the sheep... the lampshade, too!!! I've got so much fabric .... What a perfect way to start the weekend!!! Gotta share this one... psst!!! The strawberries 🍓 😍 Making Strawberry preserves... I woke up dreaming of them!
Thank you for saying where you got the green throw on your mantelpiece. I went right to Amazon as it was just what I was looking for to complete my Spring Sofa look. ❤
Your room is beautiful, your video is fun, and I'm so glad you showed us how to make a pleated lamp shade! I can't wait to make one to update an existing lamp. Thanks!
I just love the green in your bedroom which is what I have been thinking of for our bedroom. Thanks so much for your ideas. Can't wait for your tutorial on making a pleated lamp shade. I have been wanting one but as you said they are so expensive. Your styling is so lovely and I am looking forward to your future videos.
So inspiring! I’m getting that sheep print. I’ve been looking for something sheepie . ( is that a word?). Also- liberty fabric at Joanns? That is amazing fabric.
I love the green accents in this room. Green does not go with my color schemes, but I always love it. Especially mossy , deep greens. As for the pleated lamp shade.... I think a floor lamp next to the wicker rocker would look really nice with the pleated shade.

I love how you "romance the Ordinary".

Thank you for pulling me out of EVERYTHING WHITE phase. I love DEARLY your designs.
You do trendy easily, by adding the long lumbar bed pillow, and keeping all other elements older traditional style decor.
The shades of green are simply gorgeous! Your room is beautiful… I’m ready. Thank you. 😊🌷❤️
Oh no! Maybe your niece will let you babysit them sometimes.😂
@@SheHoldsDearly good idea! I’ll have to present that to her😂🥰

Your room is so lovely. I wouldn’t have believed that using that many different shades of green could look as beautiful as you made it look. You did a great job. I enjoyed this video.
Have you done a video showing how you store all of your off season decor? Would love some ideas for storage.
Yes she did. She stores in big bins, you should find this video in the old ones
