I never had a problem with the previous DLC model. I would pay a couple bucks and get more content that was actually enjoyable. When my brother wanted me to buy him a 20 dollar skin from Fortnite for his birthday, I couldn't believe anyone would spend that much just for a single skin. There are genuinely good games for the same price or less but a single skin costs just as much.

When you consider the fact that the gaming industry is now the highest-grossing entertainment industry, making even more money than movies now, I have a hard time accepting the "video games are too expensive to make" excuse. In addition to sponsorship deals and product tie-ins, these major publishers are also notorious for doing everything they can to overwork their developers for as little pay and benefits as they can legally get away with. Is anyone out there actually stupid enough to think these megaconglomerates like EA and Activision-Blizzard are so hard up for cash that they just _need_ to exploit consumers with glorified gambling in the form of lootboxes, carve out content to resell it as DLC, sell false promises in the form of season passes, and deliberately make games as tedious and grindy as possible to push microtransactions? I mean less than 1% of gamers are the main chunk of the problem. we need to start passing a law against this shit i know for a fact at least where im at certain parts of gambling are illegal aside from stuff that are somewhat skill based like blackjack and poker. but because of indian casino's they are allowed there but in terms of microtransactions they usually revolve around lootboxes(sometimes with different names) and are rigged harder then actual casinos make their slot machines. for example i have never gotten anything good from lootboxes i used to buy them all the time on csgo for the slim slim slim slim chance to make money but never got anything out of it... but at the casino i went to twice so far btw ive only won money on their slot machines specifically 1 that i picked which has like 10 different ways to win in terms of multiple special events that can occur on the machine so its also more enjoyable... lol me and my mom went there at like 10 pm and were there till 3 or 4 am on that 1 slot machine btw i started on it with only 20 dollars. by the end i made 120 and there was lots of bouncing around but the point is i kept winning and losing over and over again where as the lootboxes in games i havent won a single good thing out of them. also what the games are doing with their gambling is or at least should be completely illegal rated M games are for people age 17+ while we know kids play these games too the company doesn't have liability for them since their parents have to buy that game for them or at least the game isnt advertised for them, however from what ive seen most casinos for gambling and i believe the laws state you have to be at the minimum in some places 18 to gamble and in others 21. so considering these microtransactions are world wide since its part of the game and rated M which means lowest age is 17 they are illegal distributing gambling to people under the age of 18. am i wrong about this? if im not why does the rules not apply to EA or any other company making a game with gambling like this in it? its literally the same concept.... except your stealing younger kids money as well kids who are not even nearly old enough to have self control with purchases... even some adults have this problem so allowing kids to gain a early gambling addiction is just morally wrong if not illegal.

Guns N' Games games still are being released there, they just remove the lootboxes, i.e. apex legends battlepass gives you lootboxes, but in belgium they removed the lootboxes from the rewards and instead you get crafting materials so you craft whatever skin you want

I'm ok with apex legends. Its free to play and has no pay to win factors. Plus if you want a certain cosmetic so badly you can buy it straight up without lootboxes. But it has a demon, called heirlooms. Like csgo they are elusive melee cosmetics that have a varey rare chance to appear from random drop boxes. But the game is fun and its all I play so meh, who needs melee cosmetics.

I'm the highest level in Call of Duty WWII, played it for 2 years with around 500 hours logged in and I still do not have all of the weapon variants because of the amount of duplicates you get and other useless items like pistol grips, weapon charms, and sights. It would be different if you couldn't get duplicates but the duplicates are a copy of lottery tickets when you get a please play again or win $2

By your logic buying a new hairspray and not getting what you expected would be like a slot machine. As a fan of games I like micro transactions since it lets me enjoy the game more, and at my pace. Face the music, if you can’t control your own urges you will be taken advantage of by any business.
I think the only way to really stop this phenomenon is to: - Never pay for microtransactions. - Never give any form of microtransaction a pass. Paying for microtransactions obviously encourages them, but I think another huge problem is people giving stupid reasons for letting microtransactions off the hook (they are paying for DLC, they aren't intrusive, they only affect this mode). Microtransactions are never pro-consumer, they are only ever in the interests of the producer's financial whims. Once we get over this awful trend of excusing certain forms of microtransaction (Halo 5's REQs and Overwatch's Skins as an example), we will finally be one step closer to killing this scourge.
People who buy into transactions, buy the lottery, or go gambling with the expectation to make money are just plain stupid. They never see how the system is rigged - how its always set up in a way such that there is enough useless garbage to dilute the pool of good stuff. Most people have next to no self control, this is why we see such a huge percentage of obesity in developed countries. This is how some people allow themselves to become like 500 pounds. Obesity, gambling, lottery, fast food, much of the snacks food industry, all of these systems are interconnected and built on the fact that people are too stupid to control themselves. They see a skin, or a knife that counts kills, or a gold desert eagle, or a candy bar, etc. and they want it, they continue going for it until they get it. Theyre too stupid to see the logic in it. Ive tried to convince some of my friends how its totally rigged and is ruining video games but they just dont see it or dont care, and they have no self control to stop it. Its rigged so well that a kid can buy csgo for 15$, then waste thousands of hours on it, paying for a new crate every few hours, racking up hundreds over time. The parent never sees a problem with it because "oh its just like 15$ and a few hours a week". Until parents realize how much time these games waste and refuse to allow their kids to play them, or the government intervenes, nothing will happen. I like how tf2 handles it's cosmetics and crates, seeing as you already get the base weapons via the drop system and trading, and everything else is either a cosmetic or a stat clock, I don't really like how MvM works as you essentially pay to play something and get rng at the end, but at least you can play the mode for free and just not get the rewards

Halo 3 unlocking armor through achievements is still one of my favorite things ever. The Reach credit system made it easier to actually choose what you want to purchase, but there was something especially cool earning things through achievements
I'll explain why microtransactions are a problem: If I buy a game for $30 or $60, I want ALL the content I paid for, without spending more money and more time. The game isn't cheap and it isn't free to play, why are you making me pay $15 more for a skin? Why do I have to grind an entire month for 30 loot boxes with 2 legendary skins in total, for characters that I don't even play with? People who defend microtransactions on PAID games are exactly why they keep making it. Imagine buying a car but they say "You can only have the color yellow. If you want your car blue, you'll have to pay more or spend an entire week unlocking other colors like red, black, gray and brown". And then they go away laughing and saying "Why are you mad? It's just cosmetics".
As long as the skin wasnt in the game at release, i dont see a problem there. And even if a game is paid, if its a multiplayer, they have to pay for the servers so they need more money.

In an Singleplayer game that, except for bugfixes, doesnt gets updated with new content you are right, there should'nt be extra things to pay for. But if they make more than bug-fixes in the game, then they put not needed effort in the game which has to be paid. In a multiplayer game you paid for the state of the game at release (+bugfixes). And normally in a multiplayer game you want to get new updates, new game modes etc. after release. And you get them. Some for free, some don't. Mostly those don'ts areskins. So the devs still get mney for there work+ server upkeep and the player keeps getting updates. So a win-win situation.

How to fix this terrible industry for 2019: 1) Never buy anything from Activision, EA, Konami, Ubisoft, nor Warner Bros (if there is any other publisher you don’t like, add them to this list). Any game from them now will have ruined potential and will always be badly designed on purpose to sell microtransactions, lootboxes, and cheat codes. Create the stigma that anything with these publisher’s name on it is a lesser product because it’s true. If you absolutely NEED to have one of their games but still want to get it legally, wait about a year until the game is on sale with included DLC or (preferably) buy a used copy. 2) Never pre-order any game. Waiting until the game comes out to give them money will force them to make sure it’s a functioning, bug-free (as possible), complete game. 3) Wait until said publishers are downscaled/bankrupt from lack of sales. Even if they change their ways after suffering financial struggles, they’ll just go back to their current agenda once they’re back on top again. Let them burn in bankruptcy. They never cared about you. Don’t give them the satisfaction. 4) Wait until they’re forced to sell IPs and franchises to better publishers in order to cut costs from going under. Developers let go from this should also be given employment opportunities from said publishers. This is, unfortunately, the only drawback to this plan as there’s no telling what will happen to said franchises and developers. 5) Support indie creators and lesser known studios who might not be creating the most visually impressive games but clearly have passion for the product they put on shelves rather than creating games for the sake of earning money. 6) Spread. This. Message. Feel free to copy/paste this comment anywhere it’s relevant! Anyone who says “this won’t work” is doing EXACTLY what these publishers want. The moment you give up and think uniting against exploitative and terrible business practices is fruitless is the moment you lose. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. This has worked before and it will work again.

@a normal everyday Spider EA for some reason doesn't force Respawn to put microtransactions in their games. Also EA didn't make either of those games, they just published them.

@Kekela What platform are you playing on? Titanfall 2 on both PS4 and PC aren't dead. I can get in a game in about 1 minute. And if EA really had a hand in Apex Legends, the microtransactions would go beyond just skins. And nowadays, microtransactions are in every game and every genre. It doesn't matter if it's singleplayer it will probably have microtransactions. This is the gaming industry now.
TBH pretty great game, and the only ones that cry are journos and people that have not played it (or hated Mordor and they want to be cool by hating so more). SoW is IMO the best sequel of the last years, and if you liked the first one and are either ok with having fun grinding orcs to your army or not finishing the "true ending" yourself but watching Uruks Hollow tearing through the last parts of the game then go for it.

Fallen Deus Yeah, the "true ending" was the language used before the game released, and I'm not fully aware of the entire drama around it. All I know is some people dislike SoM/SoW to the point where something that from my understanding was supposed to be achievement that you have work towards, they yell "grinding" (and "microtransactions") and try to make fuss around it. IMO SoW has way too much bad press than it deserves.

Interesting, so the way he sees it: If players don't buy microtransactions the company will just double-down on them until the game is practically unplayable without them. Gotta admit I do see his point. When Destiny the Taken King came out, the base game was stripped of most of its content to force the people who didn't even want to the DLC to buy it just so they can enjoy the base game's content again. At that point players aren't left with many options, they have to either abandon the game or give in. I do see your point. But this kind of aggressiveness can really hurt a companies reputation. If a companies response to boycotting microtransactions is to double-down on them, that really doesn't look good. Not buying them helped a bit in that aspect. And once your reputation sinks low enough it starts to affect sales, look what happened to COD last year. You have changed my mind a bit with this video though. I still don't recommend buying microtransactions for obvious reasons.
ZECU If I played a game that doubled down on the microtransactions like that, I'd stop playing and strongly urge others to do the same. If the developers/publishers want to kill the game for everyone who doesn't want to play, then fine, consider the game killed.
When I was younger I didn’t have Xbox live. Thus when I played halo reach I could only do campaign and firefight. Those modes didn’t give me a lot of credits. Thus when I wanted the commando helmet I spent 6 months grinding to rank up and earn it. The sense of pride at what I had achieved can’t be described. Why can’t we go back to those days. It may shock ignorant adults but we gamers DO understand the value of hard work especially those of us who were around for games like reach, borderlands, and other old games.
I guess they considered, out there are much more lazy shits that don't want to grind and don't know the real value of money, at the same time. Much more of them than real gamers.

Twitchy I'd rather buy Battlefront 2 for $60 and no season pass since I have the self control to skip MTs. But some people can't, and sometimes MTS do take away from the game. For BF2 though, EA/Dice say the most powerful items will be unlock-only, and most others will require unlocks to use. So maybe, just maybe BF2'S MTs will be okay.
Modern Warfare 2020 did it so well in my opinion, you get exclusive content like gun blueprints that come with a few attachments and a skin as well as tracers. The advantage you get from those is only 3-5 attachments that you would’ve had to earn by playing that gun. In other words, the advantage is minimal.
This is why I don't buy triple A games anymore they're a complete money dump. Plus the fact that my family's poor as shit doesn't help II just avoid them altogether even if it means I can't play COD with my friends.

Much of the problem the gaming industry suffers from is the fact that gamers out there actually *buy* loot boxes or microtransactions. We can't fix the problem unless we, the customers, stop buying into it. If we continue to buy these loot boxes and such, we're telling them that it's ok to exploit us. And yet, you know what some of the top comments I see on TH-cam videos are when it comes to video games? "Give us more dlc". People are actually *demanding* microtransactions.
I feel MP games should have a casual mode, you wont appear on the leader boards but everything is unlocked. This would be great for those of us who just want to jump in and play a few rounds every now and then. Still remember playing the old Battlefield games (Primarily BF Vietnam), you didn't have to make an account, just enter a username. Heck sometimes people just left it as the default, had three people named "Player 1" in a match once! Heck the game didn't even keep track of your stats between rounds, there were 3rd party sites for that!

Your items are strictly cosmetic and you don't add retarded re-colors of said cosmetic to make your item harder to get. 3. Half or 3/4 of the profits made from micro-transactions MUST go to making additional content for the game to increase the its longevity and this said content also MUST be above average.

In addition to sponsorship deals and product tie-ins, these major publishers are also notorious for doing everything they can to overwork their developers for as little pay and benefits as they can legally get away with. Is anyone out there actually stupid enough to think these megaconglomerates like EA and Activision-Blizzard are so hard up for cash that they just _need_ to exploit consumers with glorified gambling in the form of lootboxes, carve out content to resell it as DLC, sell false promises in the form of season passes, and deliberately make games as tedious and grindy as possible to push microtransactions? we need to start passing a law against this shit i know for a fact at least where im at certain parts of gambling are illegal aside from stuff that are somewhat skill based like blackjack and poker. but because of indian casino's they are allowed there but in terms of microtransactions they usually revolve around lootboxes(sometimes with different names) and are rigged harder then actual casinos make their slot machines. for example i have never gotten anything good from lootboxes i used to buy them all the time on csgo for the slim slim slim slim chance to make money but never got anything out of it... but at the casino i went to twice so far btw ive only won money on their slot machines specifically 1 that i picked which has like 10 different ways to win in terms of multiple special events that can occur on the machine so its also more enjoyable... lol me and my mom went there at like 10 pm and were there till 3 or 4 am on that 1 slot machine btw i started on it with only 20 dollars. by the end i made 120 and there was lots of bouncing around but the point is i kept winning and losing over and over again where as the lootboxes in games i havent won a single good thing out of them. also what the games are doing with their gambling is or at least should be completely illegal rated M games are for people age 17+ while we know kids play these games too the company doesn't have liability for them since their parents have to buy that game for them or at least the game isnt advertised for them, however from what ive seen most casinos for gambling and i believe the laws state you have to be at the minimum in some places 18 to gamble and in others 21. so considering these microtransactions are world wide since its part of the game and rated M which means lowest age is 17 they are illegal distributing gambling to people under the age of 18. am i wrong about this? if im not why does the rules not apply to EA or any other company making a game with gambling like this in it? its literally the same concept.... except your stealing younger kids money as well kids who are not even nearly old enough to have self control with purchases... even some adults have this problem so allowing kids to gain a early gambling addiction is just morally wrong if not illegal.
i should also mention there are games with a even lower rating meaning even younger kids playing that have pay to win or microtransactions in it taht involve gambling and these games are mobile games that do that shit and they are probably the sole cause of all this bullshit happening in triple A games now and then when people get mad about something like diablo turning into a mobile game or EA with command and conquer mobile game(i think that was EA?) people are outraged and then these fuckers come out and say.. well you know phones are very powerful and there are millions of people who play these games we need to start seeing them as just as good as regular games(something along those lines) and then all i can think of is how my phone can barely handle a screen where you get rich in game by doing nothing just having that open for less then 30 minutes heats my phone up to where i feel like its going to explode.... yep phones are indeed powerful i totally agree 100% and these mobile games man they are going to ruin the entire gaming industry if they keep up this shit... the sad thing is EA's microtransactions are worse then the ones i find on mobile.... all the mobile games i play are pretty good deals and the games are all free to play to start. like marvels contest of champions the first purchase i made and i though it was a good deal it was like a 3 star deadpool for 5 dollars of some shit and you also got a couple premium crystals with a guaranteed 3-4 star character. i find that incredibly better then battlfront 2 or some other shit that is random and costs just about the same and it doesn't even force you to do that shit.. the game offers plenty of chances to easily get those premium crystals without paying money and even if you don't get there every week they have characters you can get for free if you have lots of characters you have collected over the time you have played and ive gotten those characters pretty easily when i was playing it more. so the fact a mobile game can get the microtransactions right but EA fails to do that especially since their games cost fukcing 60 dollars is just depressing to see

Manipulative Cosmetic. These are microtransactions that aren't pay to win because they're cosmetic, but they try to be very manipulative to get you to buy more
Non Manipulative: just cosmetic microtransactions. They don't try to shove it all down your throat and be all crazy, they're just there if you wana buy em (Like unturned)
If game companies are gona add microtransactions, please keep them non manipulative

But it has a demon, called heirlooms. Like csgo they are elusive melee cosmetics that have a varey rare chance to appear from random drop boxes. But the game is fun and its all I play so meh, who needs melee cosmetics.

As a fan of games I like micro transactions since it lets me enjoy the game more, and at my pace. Face the music, if you can’t control your own urges you will be taken advantage of by any business.
I think the only way to really stop this phenomenon is to:
- Never pay for microtransactions.
- Never give any form of microtransaction a pass.
Paying for microtransactions obviously encourages them, but I think another huge problem is people giving stupid reasons for letting microtransactions off the hook (they are paying for DLC, they aren't intrusive, they only affect this mode). Microtransactions are never pro-consumer, they are only ever in the interests of the producer's financial whims.
Once we get over this awful trend of excusing certain forms of microtransaction (Halo 5's REQs and Overwatch's Skins as an example), we will finally be one step closer to killing this scourge.
People who buy into transactions, buy the lottery, or go gambling with the expectation to make money are just plain stupid.
They never see how the system is rigged - how its always set up in a way such that there is enough useless garbage to dilute the pool of good stuff.
Most people have next to no self control, this is why we see such a huge percentage of obesity in developed countries. This is how some people allow themselves to become like 500 pounds.
Obesity, gambling, lottery, fast food, much of the snacks food industry, all of these systems are interconnected and built on the fact that people are too stupid to control themselves.
They see a skin, or a knife that counts kills, or a gold desert eagle, or a candy bar, etc. and they want it, they continue going for it until they get it. Theyre too stupid to see the logic in it. Ive tried to convince some of my friends how its totally rigged and is ruining video games but they just dont see it or dont care, and they have no self control to stop it.
Its rigged so well that a kid can buy csgo for 15$, then waste thousands of hours on it, paying for a new crate every few hours, racking up hundreds over time. The parent never sees a problem with it because "oh its just like 15$ and a few hours a week".

I'll explain why microtransactions are a problem:
If I buy a game for $30 or $60, I want ALL the content I paid for, without spending more money and more time. The game isn't cheap and it isn't free to play, why are you making me pay $15 more for a skin? Why do I have to grind an entire month for 30 loot boxes with 2 legendary skins in total, for characters that I don't even play with? People who defend microtransactions on PAID games are exactly why they keep making it. Imagine buying a car but they say "You can only have the color yellow. If you want your car blue, you'll have to pay more or spend an entire week unlocking other colors like red, black, gray and brown". And then they go away laughing and saying "Why are you mad? It's just cosmetics".
As long as the skin wasnt in the game at release, i dont see a problem there. And even if a game is paid, if its a multiplayer, they have to pay for the servers so they need more money.

In an Singleplayer game that, except for bugfixes, doesnt gets updated with new content you are right, there should'nt be extra things to pay for. But if they make more than bug-fixes in the game, then they put not needed effort in the game which has to be paid. In a multiplayer game you paid for the state of the game at release (+bugfixes). And normally in a multiplayer game you want to get new updates, new game modes etc. after release. And you get them. Some for free, some don't. Mostly those don'ts areskins. So the devs still get mney for there work+ server upkeep and the player keeps getting updates. So a win-win situation.

How to fix this terrible industry for 2019:
1) Never buy anything from Activision, EA, Konami, Ubisoft, nor Warner Bros (if there is any other publisher you don’t like, add them to this list). Any game from them now will have ruined potential and will always be badly designed on purpose to sell microtransactions, lootboxes, and cheat codes. Create the stigma that anything with these publisher’s name on it is a lesser product because it’s true. If you absolutely NEED to have one of their games but still want to get it legally, wait about a year until the game is on sale with included DLC or (preferably) buy a used copy.
2) Never pre-order any game. Waiting until the game comes out to give them money will force them to make sure it’s a functioning, bug-free (as possible), complete game.
3) Wait until said publishers are downscaled/bankrupt from lack of sales. Even if they change their ways after suffering financial struggles, they’ll just go back to their current agenda once they’re back on top again. Let them burn in bankruptcy. They never cared about you. Don’t give them the satisfaction.
4) Wait until they’re forced to sell IPs and franchises to better publishers in order to cut costs from going under. Developers let go from this should also be given employment opportunities from said publishers. This is, unfortunately, the only drawback to this plan as there’s no telling what will happen to said franchises and developers.
5) Support indie creators and lesser known studios who might not be creating the most visually impressive games but clearly have passion for the product they put on shelves rather than creating games for the sake of earning money.
6) Spread. This. Message. Feel free to copy/paste this comment anywhere it’s relevant! Anyone who says “this won’t work” is doing EXACTLY what these publishers want. The moment you give up and think uniting against exploitative and terrible business practices is fruitless is the moment you lose. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. This has worked before and it will work again.

TBH pretty great game, and the only ones that cry are journos and people that have not played it (or hated Mordor and they want to be cool by hating so more).
SoW is IMO the best sequel of the last years, and if you liked the first one and are either ok with having fun grinding orcs to your army or not finishing the "true ending" yourself but watching Uruks Hollow tearing through the last parts of the game then go for it.

Yeah, the "true ending" was the language used before the game released, and I'm not fully aware of the entire drama around it. All I know is some people dislike SoM/SoW to the point where something that from my understanding was supposed to be achievement that you have work towards, they yell "grinding" (and "microtransactions") and try to make fuss around it.

Gotta admit I do see his point. When Destiny the Taken King came out, the base game was stripped of most of its content to force the people who didn't even want to the DLC to buy it just so they can enjoy the base game's content again. At that point players aren't left with many options, they have to either abandon the game or give in. I do see your point.
But this kind of aggressiveness can really hurt a companies reputation. If a companies response to boycotting microtransactions is to double-down on them, that really doesn't look good. Not buying them helped a bit in that aspect. And once your reputation sinks low enough it starts to affect sales, look what happened to COD last year. You have changed my mind a bit with this video though. I still don't recommend buying microtransactions for obvious reasons.
ZECU If I played a game that doubled down on the microtransactions like that, I'd stop playing and strongly urge others to do the same. If the developers/publishers want to kill the game for everyone who doesn't want to play, then fine, consider the game killed.
That's what I would do as well. Honestly that's the equivalent of giving the players a middle finger.
When I was younger I didn’t have Xbox live. Thus when I played halo reach I could only do campaign and firefight. Those modes didn’t give me a lot of credits. Thus when I wanted the commando helmet I spent 6 months grinding to rank up and earn it. The sense of pride at what I had achieved can’t be described. Why can’t we go back to those days. It may shock ignorant adults but we gamers DO understand the value of hard work especially those of us who were around for games like reach, borderlands, and other old games.
I guess they considered, out there are much more lazy shits that don't want to grind and don't know the real value of money, at the same time. Much more of them than real gamers.

These AAA-competative games don't want originality or ground breaking shit. They just want to sell something and milk your wallet. Protest by not spending shit on their shit.

I've never been more proud of cancelling a preorder than Battlefront 2.
Twitchy I'd rather buy Battlefront 2 for $60 and no season pass since I have the self control to skip MTs. But some people can't, and sometimes MTS do take away from the game. For BF2 though, EA/Dice say the most powerful items will be unlock-only, and most others will require unlocks to use. So maybe, just maybe BF2'S MTs will be okay.

Modern Warfare 2020 did it so well in my opinion, you get exclusive content like gun blueprints that come with a few attachments and a skin as well as tracers. The advantage you get from those is only 3-5 attachments that you would’ve had to earn by playing that gun. In other words, the advantage is minimal.

The saddest thing is, if people didn't buy them, the companies wouldn't keep putting them in. The problem lies not only with the greedy companies, but with the uninformed and/or impulsive consumers. If everyone took a step back and gave a moment to think about what they're buying, this shit wouldn't fly. But alas, there will always be people who don't care, or don't understand, or don't think it's that big of a deal to buy this crap. I'll always see loot boxes as vapid, meaningless, hollow, and greedy. I'm proud I can still say I've never ever purchased a loot box with real money and I never will.
The only time I use real world money in a game is just to buy a DLC map for some of the older cods. Never gonna spend money on loot boxes. If I had as much money as Trump and used all that money for loot boxes, I would probably get 1 thing I actually wanted

Much of the problem the gaming industry suffers from is the fact that gamers out there actually *buy* loot boxes or microtransactions. We can't fix the problem unless we, the customers, stop buying into it. If we continue to buy these loot boxes and such, we're telling them that it's ok to exploit us. And yet, you know what some of the top comments I see on TH-cam videos are when it comes to video games? "Give us more dlc". People are actually *demanding* microtransactions.
I feel MP games should have a casual mode, you wont appear on the leader boards but everything is unlocked. This would be great for those of us who just want to jump in and play a few rounds every now and then. Still remember playing the old Battlefield games (Primarily BF Vietnam), you didn't have to make an account, just enter a username. Heck sometimes people just left it as the default, had three people named "Player 1" in a match once! Heck the game didn't even keep track of your stats between rounds, there were 3rd party sites for that!
Gamers are stupid though, don't bother trying to make a point they can't understand. How many years were people basically begging us not to pre order, and what happens? People get excited to pre order said game.

Most of the time micro-transactions are never justifiable unless;
1. Your game is free to play.
2. Your items are strictly cosmetic and you don't add retarded re-colors of said cosmetic to make your item harder to get.
3. Half or 3/4 of the profits made from micro-transactions MUST go to making additional content for the game to increase the its longevity and this said content also MUST be above average.
