    Another really informative video and super timely. Thanks Lee. Do you know why since 997 they have to be 4WD? Assumably something to do with weight and distribution but I’d have thought that would be mid/rear bias which wouldn’t need a powered front axle to correct. Surely an engineering problem rather than a marketing preference? I was really hoping for a 2WD version in the 992 esp with the GTS.

    • @9WERKSTV
      @9WERKSTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Nick. Not sure why the Targa went 4WD, I'll find out. I think it helps lend itself to being a usable, everyday car, rather than a weekender. If I find out, I'll report back.

    A 911 Targa has always been my dream car and the new 992 model available with a 7 spd manual is keeping that dream alive, but still just a bit out of reach although I’m slowly closing in on it!

    So currious if Porsche has eventually sorted out the seriously annoying Wind-buffering-Problems at open-roof Driving!
    That Problemalways disturbed my Addiction to my 991 Targa4S!
    And i dont agree that the Design has added Attractiveness to the 992Targa; i prefer especially the Rear Design-Line of my 991!

    Good review. Interesting comments on buffeting at the end, the elephant in the room as far as the Targa is concerned for me. Tried a 991.1 and couldn’t find a speed sweet spot between 30 and 80 where it was comfortable. My then 997 Cab and now 991.1Cab are serene roof down by comparison.

    • @9WERKSTV
      @9WERKSTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're bang on here, the Cab absolutely manages wind noise better, particularly the 991s with that wind deflector. you can have a sensible chat with your passenger in a Cab, roof down, at 80mph. In a Targa it's hard to do this past 40mph.

    • @is1dre
      @is1dre 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I hear you about the buffeting, and if it wasn't fixed it is a deal breaker. But for me the Targa is prettier than the cabrio.

    997.2 Targa - my next Porsche. I love my 987 Boxster, but will upgrade in the next few years. I’m a fan of the 996/997 targa implementation with the enormous greenhouse and the chrome window trim that accents the roofline.

    My first Porsche was a 75 Targa in Desert Beige. Tremendous fun to drive. Heat and defrost were a mystery to operate. I have been in love with Targa ever since.
    Is there something different about the rear body of the 992 vs 991? The roofline of the 992 seems to maintain the silhouette of the coupe better than the 991. It could be my imagination.
