Something’s Coming!! Metal Detecting In Heavy Rain!

  • On this treasure hunt I’m being caught by heavy rain in the forest. I started in a new spot with an instant 1700’s find. It looked like a good choice for a while.
    Then suddenly, trees started to move, I felt that something was coming. It was a wall of heavy rain. Fortunately I was “prepared” with my umbrella, but had to wait a little bit because of my new, quiet XP DEUS speaker.
    Nevertheless I continued after a while and could manage everything pretty well. When the trash ratio increased, I slowly started to lose hope of finding anything.
    That’s when a strong signal appeared! I thought, maybe it’s going to be a shell casing, but then realized that it has to be a buckle. It was one! A 1600’s-1700’s shoe/knee buckle with ornaments. Just when you don’t expect anything anymore… #metaldetecting ,a hobby full of surprises.
    Sadly my time was limited. I had to quit after 1h and 15 minutes. I hope you enjoyed this relatively short adventure.
    Thanks for watching!
    🎧 The sound in this video was recorded in binaural audio. To benefit from this experience I recommend using a pair of headphones.

      Hello, I'm glad you enjoy watching it. The unknown is what keeps me going. It wouldn't be otherwise exciting, as I don't really want to "have" the finds, I just want to find them. 😄

    Yes, that button goes to the 19th century. Requiring industrial manufacturing. Here, those 200-300 year old buttons as forest finds are rare. I found the first one on Thursday of this week and started the hobby in the fall of 2020.

      Thank you very much. Congratulations! Wow, that's some long waiting, but I somehow had a similar situation. When I started, there was a long period of time where "1970's relics" were the maximum. Once this "barrier" was broken, everything changed. Maybe sometimes it's a test (from the metal detecting Gods).
      I wish for you that from now on, everything changes as well!

    • @MetalDetecting24

    Let,s talk about this bullet for a moment: in the secession war in 1861
    they used the same kind of bullets but with three rings around it. They are in the same condition. So I think this bullet is from those years

    • @MetalDetecting24

      Welcome back! I'm happy to read that.
      I use Google satellite maps only and just go for areas that "look good" (type of vegetation, space between trails to have my peace, away from people etc.). I don't use historical maps as I believe that random finds (from a single person crossing (walking in) the woods in the past) can be made "everywhere" (as long as the soil is within the reach of a detector).
      Actually the only thing I try to check is, if areas are not off limit (if the information is available, often it's obvious).
      I just want to have fun in nature, the rest comes automatically, when I'm on location ("tracking" and discovering things without any knowledge is the most exciting part).
      P.s. I also have a map with all my GPS tracks and finds, which helps "connecting the dots" (for future hunts) afterwards.
      I wish you a great day! 👍

    INTERESTING SETUP! Being able to have sound on the XP Deus I, also to share the sound of the machine with us on video, combined with nature sounds in Binaural... EXQUISITE! (How is the speaker wired?!)

    • @MetalDetecting24

      Thank you, I made a community post with a close-up of the speaker. Maybe a picture explains it better. Please scroll down to a post from four years ago: www.youtube.com/@MetalDetecting24/community
      Now I'm using a different plastic piece (the original XP thing that comes with the speaker), but the solution is still the same. I hope it helps.

    • @naturasiinfrastructura1901

      @@MetalDetecting24 Thank YOU so much! I have Deus II with WS6 and I do not use the plastic headphones. I tried diffferent Bluetooth solutions with earphones and also a speaker.. Earphones = Too Loud, Speaker = Too Weak...

    • @MetalDetecting24

      @@naturasiinfrastructura1901 - The speaker is really quiet, especially the one I'm trying right now. But, if you have good hearing and relatively quiet environment, it should be loud enough if it's close to your ear (unless there is a highway close by, or you're on the beach).
      I find this solution perfect, because it's not loud to the environment, I don't have to wear headphones and can be aware of the surrounding.

      Hello, the small camera is called "Mobius Action Cam". It uses a "A2" lens, which has to be manually adjusted first. To do so, the camera housing has to be opened and the lens screwed to macro range. If you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

    "People" means in Germany: "What are you doing here? Are you allowed to do this?" LIke 80% of People you meet in the forests...really annoing. Just very very few show real interest of our hobby. So the advanced hunter try to avoid people in general :-)

    • @MetalDetecting24

      That's true. Once you leave the hiking trail, it's game over no matter what you do (same goes for other activities in the city). The only "cool" people are joggers, as they care only about their pulse. Beware of the woman with a dog... 😄
      I loved to hunt in a park years ago, but (even with permission) it became too stressful as I was only talking most of the time, instead of detecting. I still wake up at night with nightmares of the "death stare" (as I called it).
      I can only imagine how it must be now in the smartphone picture/video era.
      But I also had good encounters (in real crowded city forests) with some cool and funny people. The most memorable one was with a guy on a bicycle. He saw me detecting next to the path, stopped, came over and asked "why I'm doing it here"? "There is nothing here (historically)", he said and told me "to go to the local castle, but do it quietly". He was a monument conservator (?) (Denkmalpfleger) who probably wanted to help, as he saw the hopeless spot I was detecting. I thought that was nice of him. 😊
      One woman also asked if she doesn't have to walk over body parts when I was detecting a hiking trail. Back then I had a black bag to carry all my detecting gear, which looked a bit "strange" in combination with digging. That was very funny.
      I also had very positive encounters with hunters I see once every 3 years (I hope it stays that way). They only care about their hidden stash of Jägermeister bottles. 😄
