  • The trees that we replanted in the aftermath of World War II have finally reached maturation. Japan must learn to sustainably manage its forests and be come self sufficient in its timber usage. Kiyochika Okahashi may hold the key through his road building technique.

    Interesting seeing it compared to the forests of the swiss alps especially the lack forest roads in some regions of Japan

    Perhaps the use of all-electric helicopters specifically purposed and designed for short-range lifts (less than 20 miles round trip) to specific trailheads cold minimize the need for roads, and the thus the damage to the soil and mountains.
