    Mr. Marsalis, eventually, the instrument makes your life easier.
    The music is you.

    Branford is probably the coolest cat ever. An excellent musician who recorded a classical album on soprano from memory. His touch, technique, and sound is only matched by his authentic soul.

    I tried it at NAMM 3 weeks ago. It played very easily right down to low Bb and responded great all throughout the horn.

    1:30 « … you have to create the sound… » Facts! Love you Brandford, and love the amazing job done by the Selmer team on this new horn. A real game changer! ❤️🎵🎶🎷

    Wow, what? You can play any style of music on that horn? Now I know what's been holding me back. My Mark VI!

      I'm thinking about learning how to play the Saxophone and was looking at the Mark VI, can you tell me would this be a good choice style saxophone to begin with?

      @lamellewilliams7489 you would need to get a yamaha for beginning sax😮😮😊

      @@lamellewilliams7489 Consider getting a Selmer Supreme; it's very easy to play across all registers. Alternatively, if you're willing to invest a bit more, the Super Balanced Action is also a great option. If you're on a budget, Yanagisawa is a better choice than Yamaha, along with other brands like Ishimori or Cannonball. Good luck with your saxophone journey!

    Branford is correct in analysis (1:00 min mark) that many tenor saxophones are weak when played softly and quietly; the intonation suffers, tone stability suffers, so on. Manufacturing a good alto saxophone is not that much of a problem, but it is very difficult to manufacture a really good tenor saxophone.

    What he said is the same for the mouthpiece, not just the sax, even though, yes, you are ultimately responsible for the sound it creates. It also goes with what reed is best for the mouthpiece as well. There’s a requisite synergy there. The better player you are, the less those things can matter, even the ergonomics or key work of the sax, but it all always does still matter to some degree.

    Do you know when he started using the Supreme? I heard him live two months ago (end of February), and I'm curious as to whether he was playing it then, because one of the major impressions I was left with was the way he was able to make big changes in his sound, depending on what tune he was playing.

    All the pros that have reviewed this horn says it doesn't come properly set up from the factory and it is definately not worth the price tag it comes with.

  • @RobertJWaid
    @RobertJWaid ปีที่แล้ว +4

    The prices will go down once they've been in the market. I've been offered $7.5k for my fifty year old Mark VI so a new $10k => $9k Supreme doesn't sound like a bad price.

    • @zangsax
      @zangsax ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Branford can and has played everything possible on a saxophone and created a lot of innovated music- your statement is quite sophmoric.(sp.) Ive been playing professionally for 60 yrs and have earned the righty to disagree. Some people will say then "how many recordings did you sell" and "how many likes do you have on your page" more expressions of lack of understanding of what expertise, creativity, and music are. I'm not buying one for 11K either but let's get real from nino to bass I play what's in my hands. I'm the instrument. Branford is a better instrument than you or me and has been very creative.

    • @wyndhl8309
      @wyndhl8309 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yep!
      Even when the horn was borrowed, or had rubber bands for (wired) springs, and cigarette paper for the pad support, Charlie Parker sounded well indeed, for example.
      However, Branford sounds great👌
