Buffalo wants to trade Jeff Skinner contract plus Cozens 7.1 mil (both same term as Jones) for Jones and Levshunov or similar top prospect. Blackhawks get a 23 year old former top Ten pick big center. Buffalo get a top pick for cozens. Money evens out. We may have to add a sweetener like Phillips or Crevier, or a 2nd round pick, or a goalie. My bet at this point Jones will waive his no trade clause for change of scenery. He is really no longer wanted by hawks fans and not really needed by team. Rather extend 32yr old RHD Murphy for another year than keep Jones around. We can also leave skinner out of deal and take retain 2.5 mil of Jones deal to even out money
Ref Bedard: agree Jack. I never heard Bedard call himself a generational talent. Hawks fans go to DB hockey and look at the stats from top 10 drafted players in 23, 22,21 draft class. Except for Michkov, Celebrini, statistically, nobody is close. Would you have picked somebody else? Blackhawk fans need to stop bashing Bedard. (Every player on planet can improve something). Bedard gets a B. He’s one of our best players, gets a lot of points, really advanced for his age. BUT He doesn’t move his feet. Multiple times every game, there is an offensive or defensive play to be made if he takes a couple of extra strides, and he just DOESN’T. Recent prime example is taking 2 hooking calls versus Detroit
Fair criticisms. There are definitely some things he still has to fine-tune. Still think B is too low for what he's working with, but I get your perspective.
Seth Jones is the most over rated and over paid Defensiveman ever!!! Riddle me this Batman: When is it his turn to be benched? And if you don’t think a benching is in order, then why not? Quite a few on this team have taken turns warming the bench whether it’s to rotate in other players or to send a message. Why not him??? I have my theories but I’m afraid I’m not allowed to voice them. Jones is hardly worth 9.5 million, perhaps 4.5-5.5million. But he has been down right awful. He’s a cancer in the locker room and is teaching the young players bad habits I feel sorry for any of the young players having to be paired with him. I'd Give Bedard an A. He's doing great for a teenager playing on a team with no support. We should be grateful he is a Blackhawk!
