Coleman Butane Stove Review and Demo

  • LINK to Coleman Portable Butane Stove: amzn.to/3BL96Hp Hi Guys, today I’m reviewing you this Coleman Butane Stove. It’s 7650 BTU’s and uses direct butane pressure. This stove is for outside use only. It should not be used in an enclosed space like a camper or tent or a home because it’s a carbon monoxide hazard.
This stove has an electric igniter. Turn the knob counterclockwise until you hear a click which means there’s a spark. Use the knob to adjust the flame. You can actually simmer with this stove.
You can use different size pans and pots with a maximum of 10 inches, pan shouldn’t go past the edge of the cartridge compartment. There are little grooves and the end is a little higher so pots shouldn’t slide off. This is a 9.5 inch steel pot. A 10 inch cast iron pan that fits perfectly. This 12 inch pan is too big. I’ll boil 2 cups of water in this lightweight steel pot, it’s about 6.5 inches. The cartridge is in. I’ll turn the heat to high. It took about 4 minutes on high heat to come up to a full boil. It was a little windy but the flame didn’t go out.
This is canned sardines that I’ve seasoned. There’s a tiny bit of oil coating the bottom of the cast iron pan. I’ll turn the heat to high until the pan heats up. Within a minute, it’s sizzling, I’ll cover the pot and turn down the heat to low. After 2 minutes, turn the fish over. Cook for another minute so the other side gets a nice crust. I’ll turn the heat off. Whenever I fry fish like this, I cough and the smell of the fish fills my house. So I’m really glad I got this little stove. No more fishy smell inside. I love that it’s so easy to use and cooks quickly.
Now I could lie to you and say I’m gonna take this camping but no, I don’t want to sleep outdoors with animals and bugs even though I love animals. I would scream if I saw this tiny thing. The reason I bought this stove is to make smelly things like sardines. It was either this or buy a gas grill with a side burner and right now the prices are insane so I wasn’t going to overpay for a grill. My Weber kettle grill is fine for now. If you have a gas grill, you could definitely use this in place of a side burner to heat up baked beans etc. Of course if you go camping, this would be perfect for cooking. It takes up so little space, is really convenient and lightweight.
By the way, I did overpay for the cartridges because I had no choice. Shop around first because some of the prices online are outrageous. During normal times, these canisters should be about 2 or 3 dollars each. I found the Coleman can in stock but it’s a 45 minute drive from my house one way so I had to get what I can online.
The cartridge should last about 2 hours. I haven’t tested that yet so if I do, I’ll post an update.
After you’re done cooking, turn the dial to O, push the lever up and remove the cartridge. Store the stove after it’s cooled down, about 15 minutes. Put the cap on and store the cartridge separate from the stove. The cartridge should be stored away from high heat, open flames, direct sun and other ignition sources. Otherwise, it could explode. Wipe down any grease on the stove. Turmeric, chili powder, garlic powder and salt, that’s it for the spices.
I hope you found this video helpful. If you did, give it a thumbs up and subscribe. I’ll see you next time. Thanks for watching :)

I love mine and I do use it inside my tractor trailer! However I do vent. I just bought a new dual fuel that works off of propane also. You can’t go wrong! And she’s right about the cost of fuel! Watch where you buy it from. And it does last about two hours per can!

I brought one (grey color) recently, thanks showing how to install the butane can. It’s a pain trying to find the butane cans in stock. I guess got lucky with number of stores around in the location where I live. Coleman shouldn’t mention that the grate is removable when it cannot be removed for cleaning.

Thanks for the tip to end my search. I have the gray stove, too and I just over boiled tomato soup! I didn't think about it not being removeable, because it says it is. I can't even get it off the grate tray on top and the inside is pouring out onto the table. I only paid $30 for it, may have to keep it, if the soup dries, for emergencies and get another that can be cleaned! I loved this because the size stores well. If I'm going to get a new one, might as well make sure it has a build in wind guard!

Butane is supposedly safe for using indoors and chances are the length of time you are going to use it will not create a problem... also, you bought the butane with the Blue Seal tops which are more expensive than standard butane cans...

I have a grey version of this! just to clear it up. And I totally use it indoors. lol. But only for less than 5 mins or so with the fan on in the bathroom next to the kitchen because my stove doesnt have any ventilation. I like how you use cast iron on it. thats just funny! I am going to try it. but for that. I would take it outside. its too cold out but i think the cast iron would stay hot after it stopped working because the can gets cold and outside it would get cold so fast it would shut off. but the cast iron would stay hot hahaha

Then I was bombarded with negative reviews , danger , warning and that these canisters are temperamental and explode! Now I am sorry I bought the thing and scared to use it! IS IT WORTH IT or should I get rid of it ?
My canisters have a blue ring and a CRV label . I cannot find ANY satisfactory information on that anywhere not even where the cans are made!
I might just go back to my wood stove , that won't explode!

    • @capybara8868
      @capybara8868 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Because the gas produces carbon monoxide which can be a killer in a confined space.
That said I sometimes use mine indoors - but close to a hopper window which provides plenty of ventilation.
Carbon monoxide is odourless - so must be respected.

I've used mine indoors during a outage after the last hurricane.
I just burn it on top of my range under the hood.
Everything is heat resistant plus all my windows are open so I'm not worried about carbon monoxide.

    UPDATE TO THE BELOW YADA-YADA!!!
First, this update is just giving a 'heads-up' that this comment has NOTHING to do regarding what our wonderful provider is telling us about, but rather what I bought December of last year, a 'dual gas' burner.' I just thought I would share a 'good thing'.
Secondly, the UPDATE has to do with the use of propane, not butane. Our "Fearless Leader" bought a burner that uses ONLY BUTANE, which is a bit safer than propane.
Propane gas requires a special hose with a REGULATOR. Your standard propane tanks, usually used for cooking on your outdoor propame gas grills, will eventually need to be replaced. The same is for the hose & regulator supplied by the good folks at "Gas ONE", however THEY make a 'different' hose & regulator that is unique to their little burner. You MUST purchase from THEM when the time comes. So, to keep from needing to purchase that SPECIAL hose-with-regulator sooner than later, make sure to ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS NEVER LEAVE THE PROPANE TANK CONNECTED AND THE PRESSURE ON. You want to ensure there is NO PRESSURE remaining in that hose when storing. Removing the propane will release all hose pressure. GOT IT? GOOD! :-) When using butane, no real issues, but still, pop the tank out when not using for a while. Common sense, right?
    Hello there, favorite presenter/cook/reviewer! ✨🤗✨
December of this past year, I decided to get me a SAFE gas operated single burner stove. By safe, I mean one I can use in my bedroom up on the third floor. This meant NO PROPANE.
I found the "Gas ONE Propane or Butane Stove GS-3400P". I use the propane gas outdoors. According to my references, it is quite safe to use butane in a 'standard' sized room, but still you SHOULD provide adequate ventilation. I have had NO issues using the butane gas for heating up my 'Mocha Pot'. And again, I will NOT try using Propane inside as I know it is not smart. While using ANY device that burns ANY type of fuel, gas, wood, coal, etc., I always use an alarm I place near me that LOUDLY lets me know if any harmful by-products are being produced that can be hurtful.
While I DO use this BUTANE gas stove inside my LARGEish bedroom, I DO have very adequate air-flow, especially with the AC running. And even though yours truly here uses the butane inside, I am noot saying YOU should do the same. All I KNOW fer-sher, ladies & gents, is I have been using butane inside for well over fifty years with NO issues. I am in my 70s now.
I paid just over 30 bucks on Amazon with free shipping as a PLUS member. I order enough 'junk' monthly to WAY off-set the annual fee for PLUS membership! . . . Amazon just LOVES me - hee hee
I have found this above mentioned burner with different 'options' available, and of course the pricing varies. Options are usually just including the needed gas.

    • @bestkitchenreviews
      @bestkitchenreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Yes, there are plenty of people who use this indoors with ventilation. I just had to read the warning 😁 Thanks for sharing, as always!

It's a stove , I find it very hard to believe a female knows how to use it , much less realize there is an item called a pan . I was married twice neither wife knew about pans .

This female knows how to cook using all different kinds of pans. Watch my other channel- Anitacooks for recipes using pans 😆
