I've been to Cuba twice and had a very good time both times. Felt quite safe throughout and the people were very friendly and met extremely talented musicians, artists, and athletes. What rubbish is this but we can go to countries where our heads can get chopped off in a second

My uncle is a pathologist in Cuba and my mom has to send him 150 dollars monthly bc he only makes 20 dollars a month and everything is 10 times more expensive than in the USA. Even the food if you ever find anything of worth. He had to sell candy at one point to make money, a doctor. I think you should inform yourself a little better friend... Cheers

I dont think I entirely understand the moral obligation the united states has to diplomatically antagonize Cuba in the interest of the poor conditions citizens face there. I though that the poor conditions citizens face there are because of the command economy suffering from the economic pressure the United States puts upon them.

You're right. It's a good thing that despite the killings and harassment of people on the opposition, they have at least fair, democratic elections--or so I think. And the Ukrainian thing shows how much they've changed from their imperialistic/soviet past--well, I guess?
