I played BF1 with controller and wasn't that easy. I'm worst gamepad player than mouse&key but I had some kills. For me playing on controller was fun. Not exacly wining. Even that wasn't frustrating at all. Eventually I switch to mouse&key and stay that configuration. I played on old x360 gamepad and aim assist.

Completely wrong game to test this dude. Play a 90's arena shooter, or Quake champions with a controller. It'll be hilarious.

I guess it all boils down to the individual. Some people prefer with or with out.. and you can even use aim assist AND mouse and keyboard with console
