    Thanks for this video! I have to emphasize the Alde glycolic heating system; we camped over New Year's in Colorado, and a couple days the outside temperature was in the teens. We were if anything too hot; the Alde warms glycolic fluid, which circulates and heats hot air (and heats the bathroom too- added bonus) which keeps the trailer toasty warm. We did this on battery power for two nights (but won't go more than that....) even. And note that the black tank is under the bathroom floor, so doesn't need a tank heater in the winter due to the circulating glycolic fluid. Although we did winterize the fresh tank and put antifreeze down the drains (and down the toilet when we dumped the black tank) to avoid damaging the valves.

    My understanding is that the windows are double pane as well. I really love the 400 and am dreaming of the day that I can make my purchase and ride off into the sunset with it behind me.

      I can't get a price, all i get is another commercial. I would have to drive 75 miles to any RV dealer when knowing a price point would make it worth my time or not.

      @@overout429 My husband & I just looked at a NuCamp 400 Tab & out the door with tax, license & registration is $43,000. We just looked at it a few weeks ago in Feb. 2021. That is for a 2021. We loved it. I think they would be worth the price. They are made extremely well. They are 4 months behind in manufacturing right now. The 2022's are due to come out anytime. We want to use it to tour the National Parks among other things.

    I hear what he's saying about the rear side "Tab 400" logo. And on one hand, I agree that it's commendable that NuCamp responded so quickly. But still you have to ask yourself "How did this trailer come off the assembly line, go through inspection, and get shipped without that very visible logo being installed?" I mean, we've all bought cars. Have you ever bought a new car missing a very visible logo? In general, the RV industry is lightyears behind the auto manufacturing industry in terms of quality control.

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Bob Reed The Logi was on when it left the factory. During transport from
      Ohio to Florida, something happened to the rear trim piece that damaged it. NuCamp shipped a new trim piece but apparently forgot to ship the logo.

    We started our RV lifestyle back in 2013 with a T@B and it was the exact opposite of what you describe, other than the cabinetry. Everything else was assembled by drunk chimpanzees. The furnace was wired backwards so it didn't work. The table top was attached backwards on the frame so that you couldn't reach the lock release without climbing under the table. The hole for the stereo was cut so oversize that only 1 of the four attachment screws actually contacted any wood behind the mounting flange. One of the rear speakers had about 4 feet of excess speaker wire coiled laying in the rear compartment. The fiberglass propane compartment fractured and the replacement included an additional metal brace to strengthen it. Unfortunately, the brace was riveted to the fiberglass lower flange such that the flange only contacted the frame where the rivets heads were after mounting. This was an even worse design than the original. The frame had areas of peeling paint and rust when we took delivery. The 1970 lb camper rode on a 2000 lb rated axle so the forum was filled with complaints of uneven tire wear caused by bent axles. The furnace outlet was right under the head of the bed so that the bed became a griddle long before the cabin warmed very much at all. Back then, there was no screen door and we soon realized that most of the ridiculous purchase price was based on its novelty and "cute" factor. We gratefully sold it at a loss after 9 months of ownership just to cut our losses. I realize that you have a completely different animal (at a completely different price tag) and I'm relieved that someone at (what used to be Little Guy) finally got their cranium removed from their rectal cavity. Hope you get good service from the unit in years to come and I'd be interested in a follow up video 2 years from now :-)

      Travels with Yoly Thanks for sharing. We will be doing a 6 month review in August after our three week trip to Canada. I’m sorry to hear of your bad experience. It sounds a lot like what we dealt with on our Jayco Hummingbird last year. We have watched your videos in the past and have enjoyed them.

    • @TravelswithYoly
      @TravelswithYoly 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The two pull-behinds that followed the T@B were actually much worse and almost discouraged us from RVing completely. The industry as a whole has very low standards and almost no quality control, especially the midwest manufacturers. We did a 6 week western Canada excursion last spring (from Georgia) and checked our last bucket item off the list. It was just as beautiful as I remembered it from my 1970 travels but a lot more crowded. Not sure what part of Canada you'll be visiting but you might find our Canada Bound playlist interesting if you're heading westward :-)

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Travels with Yoly That is perfect! We are heading west this summer. Going up to Calgary from Indiana and then west to Vancouver Island. We will check out those videos. I remember watching one of your videos last year that you shot in I think Unicoi State Park in Georgia and we ended up going there after we saw your video.

    • @TravelswithYoly
      @TravelswithYoly 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We came up from Glacier National Park and looped around going through Banff and Jasper on the return leg and then spending time again in Yellowstone. We avoided the coast as I had been there before and frankly didn't have the budget to extend ourselves that far west (everything costs more there). You might start at Day 19 to see our Canadian segments. As for Unicoi State Park, not us .... never camped there nor made a video.

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is great that you got to see one in person. Videos are good but in person is always better. I try to explain to people when they bring up the price that you get what you pay for. NuCamp uses high end components such as the Alde Heating System, Infinity Flooring, Azdel, etc in the their construction. The NuCamp trailers also hold their value much better than the mass produced trailers on the market which I think is also something to consider. We love our trailer and feel it was worth the money we have spent on it.

      I second the wish for a cassette toilet. I don’t understand why they don’t use them in these smaller trailers, especially when outfitted with “off road” packages. Lots of Forest Service “unimproved” campgrounds have vault/pit toilets, and a cassette would be perfect at those places.

    Very sleek and sharp looking teardrop TT but also quite a hefty price premium for those 3 attributes listed. But long as it's worth it to you is what matters. I'm happy with my year old more conventional stick & tin compact bunkhouse TT that costs half that, sleeps up to 5, also personalized and improved with my own modifications & improvements. Many Happy and Safe RV travels to you all.

      I think you are right Paul. Everyone has to decide what is best for them. There is no one size fits all for most things in life. NuCamp is a very niche market much like Airstream and they are quite happy with that.

    Good video, but still a lot of money for something that small.
    I know it’s easier to pull, but I will stick with my 28’ with one slide out RV, tandem axle
    4 season insulated , aluminum frame, double wall insulated
    I have the same exterior with a poly Urethane coating , no bubbling.
    The extra room inside is nice!
    My total cost $25, 000

    These base quality levels that they produce is the quality levels we should expect. Regular hardwood face frame and Baltic birch cabinetry production, Dovetail joinery, kreg pocket holes on a production level isn't magic, a make ready program, logical water tank placement, Logical electrical design, a proper selection of all build components and customer service shouldn't be above and beyond expectations; especially at these prices. I still say they are overpriced at 30K+. Class, size, weight, fixtures, amenities scream 18K - 20K and not a penny more.

    Great to hear good things about how the company treats their customers.You don’t mind paying more as long as you get what you pay for.i have two questions1)Is it a good pet Friendly and safe RV to leave your dog in because I notice you have a dog?2)When running the AC do you need shore power or Generator and can it be run off of Propane also?

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You do need shore power or a generator to run the AC. The AC can not be operated on propane. We had a Maxx Aire Fan installed which is thermostat controlled and operates off the battery. We do leave our two fur babies in their crate for short periods of time in the trailer.

    Great video Patrick. One of the main reasons I chose my current brand is Azdel. I never heard of T@b before your rig. Very nice. Customer Service is so important. Thank you so much for your prompt reply Mike! I started out looking at R pods and then started checking out an even Lighter trailer made up in Canada called Pro-Lite. But after following Mandy Lea on TH-cam, and seeing this video on Travels with Delaney, your testimonial sealed the deal for me. I am a 65-year-old semi- disabled and semi-retired single woman but I used to drive a log truck and also hauled wood chips in long trailers so a Tab 320S should be a piece of cake LOL.
      I am downsizing, selling my condo, and moving into an apartment. I will definitely have some cash in hand and have located a NuCamp dealer about 25 miles away from my home in Olympia, Washington. I'M SO EXCITED TO SEE ONE FOR REAL!

    You know...for that price I think I'd just go 'full throttle' and get a 'Bambi'...and if I get tired of it (not likely!) the resale-value

      **Bear in mind I'm not 'trashing' the 'T@B...it's simply that from the standpoint of a $26k +++ 'Camper', I'd be
      happier w/a 2x as expensive 'Bambi' in the '16 or '20ft. class** (likely the '20' because of the huge amount of
      'breathing-room' over the '16ft. model. The 'T@B' has the advantage of being lighter in weight, but that 's
      about it...the 'Bambi' (treated and maintained properly!) will still be worth 75% of what you paid for it in ten-years
      time of ownership and will last damn near **Forever** if not 'abused'...plus somewhere 'Nice to stay' for relatives
      who are crowding your house when visiting (personally, I'd let them have the house and I'd hide in the 'Bambi'!)

    Yeah, they are nice. But they are no Casita. j/k. I really like the craftsmanship and quality of materials they use. It's like being in a regular house, if regular houses were built well. I used to do carpentry work. Built a few houses years ago. People were always coming by and asking us if/when we'd be available to build their house. They always looked very sad when I told them that it was a hobby and just for friends. The Tab that I looked at a couple of years ago looked like something that I would build if I were building it for me. Everything looked well planned out and designed, and nothing cheap anywhere that I looked. I can see it being worth $30,000, when comparing it to others on the market that are $20,000. Or at least I could see the value to someone and their resulting wiliness to invest that much in it. I think you made a fine choice and you'll probably continue to be happy with your decision for quite some time. Thanks for taking the time to put these thoughts together and share them with us. Much appreciated.

    These are great trailers so this statement is by no means a dig, and that is that the wood used appears to be a marine grade plywood with a veneer over the ply, like a high grade cabinetry plywood. Just as sturdy as a solid wood probably more because plywood has strength characteristics due to its construction.

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure what exactly it is other than i know its solid. Not a pressed board type of material. I thought the literature had said they use birch. They honestly are nicer cabinets in terms of quality build than what we have in our home.

    I can find a lot more then 3 reasons why a tab is not even worth half the market price.
    Just for starters
    1) The axil is a joke. It's paved roads only. Any washboarded dirt roads and it won't handle them. Not talking 4WD roads just ordinary dirt roads with a bad section here and there. Very little tire/fender clearance.
    2) No point it putting in a stove and sink in something that small or expensive. The space is needed inside for when I need to get out of the weather or at night before going to sleep. In camp I always use a table and outside stove, grill, dutch ovans.
    3) A tab can only go to a place I don't want to be. Camping in a KOA off a highway with 1000 others is not my idea of a good trip. It isn't tough enough to go to a remote place away from the crowds.
    4) I't too heavy for it's size.
    Thats just the start of the list.
    A new tab might be worth 12 - 15 K and that is pushing it.

    I showed the T@b 400 to my husband and he was so impressed, we bought it! I go back in 2 days to get the training on using it. I am concerned about the blinds. They do not move except with great effort opposite of your video where you used 1 hand and they easily slid. Also, the screen on the big windows in back bunches up at the top when drawing up the night shade. I told the dealer to get those adjusted appropriately. Am very excited to be joining the T@b family! Now, to sell our Casita!

      Greg, congrats on your new Rockwood RV. One of the advantages of the Tab 400 is that it can be towed by relatively small tow vehicles, like my small SUV (max tow rating 4000 lb), mine could never tow a 25 foot RV. That being said, my family and I usually only stay in the 400 for 2-3 days (although we're planning a week long trip out to Yellowstone later this year).
      For longer excursions we'd probably prefer a larger RV too, but then we'd need a new tow vehicle.

    If you see this please reply you said the tab 400 cost you twice as much as a RV less than same size and excetera does nucamp put twice the warranty on their products in case you have a problem with them I can sleep paying for better but here's the problem I would have if it cost twice as much and it's made to a better standard that's great but if they don't put twice the warranty that's a problem for me

      John Puckett NuCamp trailers come with a 1 year warranty. They have been awesome to work with on a few minor issues we had with the trailer. A warranty is only as the company issuing it. We had a two year warranty with Jayco but they would t honor the warranty on the faulty refrigerator even though we still had over a year of supposed warranty left.

      We watched a TH-cam video of the LG Max when we were looking but we preferred the interior look of the Tab 400, the Alde Heat system and Cool Cat AC/heatpump and the fact that the Tab is a few feet shorter than the LG Max. So far from what I've read and learned I don't like the skimpy little fridge in the TAB 400; also that is only a 2-way fridge.Generally too, the 400 has a dry weight that is a good 450#'s lighter than the Little Guy Max but it is my understanding that the 400's tongue weight is about 20-25#s or so heavier than the Little Guy Max's. I am anxious to go see both these in person and am also having my eye on the new Little Guy Mini-Max and am considering it as an alternative to purchasing the former two trailers mentioned because of their heavier weights.

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is now an option for a larger 3-way refrigerator in the Tab 400. We actually prefer the smaller 2-way refrigerator. If you check out the playlist I have called Take 5, I have a couple of videos in there that address why this 2 way is much more efficient on battery.

      @scottb6020 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you Delaney for replying with that info. I see you tow your TAB 400 with a 4-Runner. How are you finding that? Are your using a WDH with a friction type anti-sway bar ? I'd be curious to know if you've ever weighed your actual tongue weight. I have a 2018 4-Runner SR5-Premium and am concerned about towing a TAB 400 especially through out long upgrades and downgrades such as are throughout the National Parks out West. I am near the East Coast. Thank you in advance for your responses.

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We love the 4Runner. Plenty of power and braking. We don't use weight distribution but use a friction sway bar. I did install the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System ($250) that reduced the rear sag. It tows great. We took it out west this summer all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Plenty of steep grades with absolutely no issues. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

    • @scottb6020
      @scottb6020 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Patrick, thank you for that helpful information about the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System. Were you able to install that or, is that something that requires professional installation due to special tool needed. Where did you buy the Timbren System may I ask? Yes, due to the trailer tongue specs I got off the Nucamp web page for the TAB 400 its rated at a 395# tongue weight and 65#'s more on to that when you add the battery and propane tank. This is based on a GAWR of 3500#'s. Thank you in advance for your input. I am assuming that they mean an empty propane tank...?

    when i see that the tab 400 costs twice as much or more than competitors it makes me wonder if it's worth it for occasional camping trips, you know? i mean at some point you start paying a premium for the better materials and construction - that said, it's hard to beat great customer service

She said the biggest issue in the T@G (back in 2017) was when she went to extreme temp locations. Like she was off in the dead of winter woods and EVERYTHING was freezing; food, liquids of course, her make up lol. I haven’t yet come across a video of how the T@B does in freezing temps. Great review. We've looked at a T@B 320 and found it to be a little small for my 6'1 height but concerned about boon docking in the 400 and our 5th Gen Toyota 4Runner towing well . . . and there you were! Do notice it makes the 4Runner squat a bit below proper level. How do you find the handling, gas mileage and rear view mirror perspective?

      We initially squatted about 2" which is not terrible. I did add the Timbren Suspension Enhancement System ($250 installed) and now it only squats 1" and rides great. We love the the 4Runner as a tow vehicle. Plenty of power and braking. It handles the trailer very well. • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Neal Johnson We actually only owned it for 11 months and by December we were so frustrated by Jayco and our dealer that we made the decision to switch to the TaB 400. We loved the layout of the Jayco and it towed well but the lack of quality of the build and components was starting to show after 11 months. Jayco failure to help us get the refrigerator to work was the main reason. We wanted a trailer that actually worked built by a company that honors their warranty. We found NuCamp and it’s the best decision we’ve ever made on a trailer purchase.

      We personally love the interior design of the TaB 400. It was actually one of the things that attracted us to it. It doesn't have the traditional trailer look on the inside and the bathroom is one of the nicest "wet" bathrooms that I have ever seen in a trailer. The dinette does need some tweaking however it's their first go around with this model and I would expect you will see changes in the upcoming model changes in the future much like the TaB 320's have changed over the years.

    Patrick, I see that you are towing the T@B 400 with a 4Runner. Is that sufficient when going through the mountains? I know the towing capacity of the 4Runner is 4,000 lbs but if you load up the truck, it might get borderline. I am considering the T@B 400 with a Chevy Colorado Diesel as towing vehicle but would prefer the Toyota for reliability and usefulness as general vehicle. Thanks!

      @TravelswithDelaney  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 2014 4Runner we have is rated for 4700 pounds and we have had no issues towing with it. We hauled our 16FD Jayco Hummingbird that was the same weight as our Tab 400 last summer to the Tetons and through Colorado with no issues last summer. Plenty of power and braking. We have found it to be a great tow vehicle for a trailer this size. I probably wouldn't go much bigger than the Tab 400 with the 4 Runner though. We have been averaging about 11.5 mpg when towing the Tab 400. Hope that helps.

      Thanks Pat! I didn't realize that prior versions of the 4Runner had a higher towing capacity. An average 11.5 mpg is pretty scary, though. I wonder how the Tacomaor Colorado would do or maybe I should wait for the 2019 Ford Ranger..

    Beautiful trailer and price would be justified if it slept 4 people as most families are exactly that number. But sadly it’s not and total oversight but nuCamp marketing. They could have made a bunk bed in the front.

    TAB is a lotta dough. It could however, be a better alternative to a camper van circa $100k. Roadtrek,Pleasure Way, etc. At least with this set up, if you have repair issue, you won't be totally out of luck. End the end, most folks, myself included, do not camp enough to justify that kind of out lay of resources. My old Zepplin is a better fit with 4 grand kids begging to come along, every time we go.

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bed is 80" long and 58" wide. A normal residential queens is 80" long and 60" wide. Because the back of the trailer comes up at an angle, you can loose another inch or two if you decide to put memory foam topper on it. The bed itself is very comfortable though.

    Hey guys,
    I met with John Betts @ Gerzeny's regarding the possible purchase of a nucamp 400 T@B. I mentioned you guys and John said he should get you to do some of their videos for their dealership because they are so on point. I mentioned the purchase price you posted on one of your videos and he coughed a bit :). Anyway, I'm in the process to purchase but I'm also looking at a Little Guy Max. 'Just wondering if you have any thoughts about your opinion regarding making a choice. Thanks - Love the show.

    • @TravelswithDelaney
      @TravelswithDelaney  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Chip Self John coughing at our purchase price sounds like a sales tactic! LOL. We really like our TaB 400. We did stop at Princess Craft in Texas and looked at the Little Guy Max. It seems like a very nice trailer. Each trailer has its pluses We like the fact that the TaB is a bit shorter, has the euro styling on the interior, a very large wetbath and has the ducted ac with heat pump. The LG Max has some nice features too like a larger refrigerator and more exterior storage and has a more traditional trailer styling. I’m sure this is much help for you. My suggestion is decide what things are most important to you between the two trailers and that may help you decide. Either one should be a good choice.

I know where the shut off is and the battery turn on/ff for winterizing is and assume the physicals bateries should be located in the area uderneath the bed towards the foot. I noticed that yours was in the battery compartment.Is this somethingbtat comes from the factory or the dealer?

      NuCamp ships the 400 from the factory with the batteries installed. They should be under your bed in a plastic box to vent them. Unless they changed the location in the 2021 models.
