Dan being a responsible mom to Katey while Arin's a deadbeat dad, Poor Doris getting dragged into the story mission and fighting to the very end, Vikki's tragic demise at Arin's incompetence, it's all hilarious and I hope the continue the series.
53:01 yes, there is a button to get the survivors to follow you. You can press triangle to get them to stop fighting zombies and follow you closer. But tbh I’m glad arin never figured that out cause Vikki dying 2 inches away from the maintenance tunnel was pure gold

I like the quests in this game where you help people. There's not enough zombie games that are less about shooting every zombie and more about getting people to safety. If there was a zombie game that focused on curing the zombies and helping people survive I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
There's an old (~2007) indie game called *Fort Zombie* (available on Steam for cheap). You get to pick a location to fortify and improve with loot and NPCs. You can find and save other survivors by going out on foraging missions. The concept is quite great but the game's as old as it is janky. Enjoyable ~15 years ago. Not sure how it holds up today. Also on Steam is *Dead State,* a top-down zombie-apocalypse, action RPG with turn-based combat and elements of base building and community management. I believe you get to save other survivors on missions. It's also a low budget product, though.
You boys should really give Dead Rising 2: Off The Record a try. It brings back frank west, adds an autosave feature, and adds a new shyamalan twist. Arin could power though the whole game in like 5 episodes.

For anyone wondering...yes, you can tell NPCs where to go. And, yes, that is a more efficient method, cause otherwise they tend to stand still whenever you're close to them, becoming easier targets for zeds. You give the command by pressing aim+[button for "send survivor"]. They'll go where you aimed.

This really drives home why Dan checks out of the gameplay more often. Arin ignored his advice almost 100% of the time here and it was almost always good advice to make the game less frustrating to play. Funny to watch, but I'm sure it must've be at least a little frustrating for Dan.
I forgot how infuriating it is whenever Arin ignores that zombies swarm and respawn making it literally impossible to "clear an area" while standing still.

I have huge nostalgia for the first Dead Rising. It, along with Saints Row 1. Back before I even had an Xbox 360, I used to sit on TH-cam for entirely too long, watching people play the demos of both games. Like, I watched those videos SO much, that by the time I finally played either game, YEARS later, I still knew my way around the starting areas. I knew where the AK47 was in Saints Row (in the basketball court that's close by, but outside the demo boundaries), and where the Katana was on the awning in Dead Rising. But....I think I've always played Dead Rising wrong for me. Maybe not wrong for everyone, but for me personally. Watching this video, seeing how much fun they're having mostly just dicking around, ignoring MOST of the survivors, not really concerned if a survivor dies, and kinda just vaguely following the story along to the end. When I've always tried to play the Dead Rising games, well, mainly the ones with actual escorting involved, I focus entirely too much on trying to save every single person, and I absolutely hate it. I do not, at all, enjoy the survivor escorting. It instantly ruins any fun I have with the game. And I don't think I SHOULD be playing that way, but the way the games always shove it in your face like it's this huge important mandatory part of the game, I always end up trying anyway, then immediately losing interest in playing. Maybe I'll give the games another shot and just kinda ignore the survivors. Maybe do one every now and then if I happen to be on my way back to the saferoom anyway, but otherwise just...not worry about it. Do the mandatory things like getting Zombrex, or the actual story missions, and ignore the survivors completely. Just dick around and do the mandatory things to progress the story, and actually try to have fun with it for a change. - Side note, I'd LOVE to see a playthrough of Off the Record, just to get a Dead Rising 2 series, with the Frank jokes and their reactions to some of the uh, changes.
This is a few episodes late to say this but yes, LOVE Ghoul Grumps! I’m honestly not into horror but it makes October feel special and different; I personally look forward to it. Same with Christmas stuff; always do your seasonal shizzniz dawgz 👊🏼
