19:05 I think I know what Hell is. It's a realm in which you're trapped inside a poorly translated Japanese visual novel as the blank slated protagonist. Conversation is a chore because the writing is so generic. None of the characters actually speak, you have to read their subtitles, which is really hard since every other sentence has a either misspelled words and/or grammatical errors. Everything is at a snail's pace, not just because the dialogue is bloated and verbose, but also because the story is convoluted and full of holes. The worst part is you can't even have sex with the characters because contrivances appear out of nowhere to keep romantic and sexual tension at an all time high.
For me it was Baron Humbert von Gikkingen in The Cat Returns. To be fair, in English he was voiced by Cary Elwes who was a big heart throb at the time.

One of the best/worst things about game grumps is when Arin fails to read instructions and does something that makes it super difficult for him. It's so funny but can be frustrating when he blames the game for it.

I like the idea that the reason Kitty Love is... like that, is because Weather Carl is recently out of the hospital from taking a very severe head injury. She's got a low-stakes job because it's helping her rebuild neural connections, and she'll probably be fine in a year or so, but right now it's still all very confused. So everyone is very patient with her, and they're mildly concerned but not especially surprised when she has dizzy spells that make her fall on people. They are, subsequently, horrified to discover that she's begun thinking she's a cat, because it means something has gone _very wrong_ with her readjustment period. This also means Mr.Saijo is... a very, very terrible person.

Seeing those old sonic comics, and the fact that I remember all the older character models, makes me feel old now. I do prefer the personality of Sonic in the comics compared to now. Like Mickey Mouse, he has a more developed personality in comics rather than the more "blank-slate" that's going on now. It's easy for merchandise, but a lot of effort has to be put in to bring out a compelling character.

Sometimes I wonder if Kitty Love is like.... AMAZING in Japanese. Like it has deep and in depth character interactions, and a naturally flowing plot with heavy story beats, that was just _slaughtered_ by the translation..... but then I remember that the only clear thing to be found through this localization is that the game is about dating cats(???) and I try not to think about it too hard.
The problem with No Players Online is that it’s honestly a very spooky concept but it’s bogged down by silly writing. That initial feeling like you’re being watched is so eerie but then it’s traded for the most cliche “My WiFe’s SoUl Is iN tHiS gAmE” bullshit

One of the best/worst things about game grumps is when Arin fails to read instructions and does something that makes it super difficult for him. It's so funny but can be frustrating when he blames the game for it.

@@rajaniwolf9466 in my dealings with emulators, audio gets wonky along framerate. The game was sluggishly slow, and the audio seemed to get even worse the longer they played, which also happened to me

I like the idea that the reason Kitty Love is... like that, is because Weather Carl is recently out of the hospital from taking a very severe head injury. She's got a low-stakes job because it's helping her rebuild neural connections, and she'll probably be fine in a year or so, but right now it's still all very confused. So everyone is very patient with her, and they're mildly concerned but not especially surprised when she has dizzy spells that make her fall on people.
They are, subsequently, horrified to discover that she's begun thinking she's a cat, because it means something has gone _very wrong_ with her readjustment period.
This also means Mr.Saijo is... a very, very terrible person.
I think of the way Arin says "he clean me" at least once a week

Seeing those old sonic comics, and the fact that I remember all the older character models, makes me feel old now. I do prefer the personality of Sonic in the comics compared to now. Like Mickey Mouse, he has a more developed personality in comics rather than the more "blank-slate" that's going on now. It's easy for merchandise, but a lot of effort has to be put in to bring out a compelling character.

Sometimes I wonder if Kitty Love is like.... AMAZING in Japanese. Like it has deep and in depth character interactions, and a naturally flowing plot with heavy story beats, that was just _slaughtered_ by the translation.....
but then I remember that the only clear thing to be found through this localization is that the game is about dating cats(???) and I try not to think about it too hard.
The problem with No Players Online is that it’s honestly a very spooky concept but it’s bogged down by silly writing. That initial feeling like you’re being watched is so eerie but then it’s traded for the most cliche “My WiFe’s SoUl Is iN tHiS gAmE” bullshit
