Cooking oils and fats are the only ones that it is not certified for, if you want an extinguisher for pan fires, etc, then a wet chemical might be more useful since it is certified for cooking oils and fats, although they are quite expensive.

If there is smoke from a fire, I think it's better to worry about inhaling that instead.
