    I loved how in the end Torres was not a hateful or spiteful man. He died respecting his killer, even agreeing to disagree.
    So rare in this series' depiction of Templars. Sure, they can believe they are the good guys, they can be sad or disappointed when dying, but this here is still somehow different. I love it.

      Kenway saga did a good job with Templars. The Borgias were cartoonishly evil and the Kenway games did a great job making the Templars seem more three-dimensional.

      Torres is one of those that you can call an antagonist but not quite a villain. When you get to Kingston, Torres is clearly not so bad at all next to Laurens Prins and he hates slavery. He’s probably the least villainous Templar outside of Rogue or some of the allies from Unity, even glad to see Edward evolve even as his enemy. Robert de Sablé was crazy dangerous, Rodrigo Borgia ruined Ezio’s life and others to get what he wanted, Cesare was completely insane, and Charles Lee was completely ruthless but Torres seemed like what the Templars really wanted to be. Of course we know the Observatory would be abused no matter what he wanted.

      @@unc54 Agreed, I've always said this, this is why forever and always ac1, 3, 4 rogue and 5 will be my favourites as much as I do love the ezio trilogy as well, I always sympathised with the templates and though these games carried a much weightier interesting story by showing the merits and failings of both sides. The newer ac games have been utter drivel in comparison in my opinion from syndicate onwards. Bayes story maybe being a slight exception though he definately could have done with another game to flesh out and make his story lore meaningful just like lost assassins since ezio. Ubishites unwillingness to make true sequels in favour or yearly reskins gas cut too many interesting charachters amd story arch short.

Empathy is non existent, Haytham became a tool of war, he adapted to that purpose. Torres is not a fighter, he is a negotiator. He has his huge bodyguard watching his back, and avoids conflict. I don’t know wether or not he was fighting in a war in his younger years, if he suffered mental trauma as much as Haytham did. Yes, Torres is by miles better than Haytham, no question about it. Torres and El Tiburón definitely draw parallels to Manuel Palaiologos and Shahkulu from AC Revelations in terms of character, at least for me. One (Torres/Manuel) is an elderly man, who seeks out power and knowledge so that they may do what is right in their perspective. The other one ( El Tiburón /Shahkulu) is a strong bodyguard with cool-looking armour and little to no dialogue in game, but with memorable memory corridor scenes (Edward thanks El Tiburón for turning him from a soldier to a scoundrel, Shahkulu survives Ezio's air assassination and starts choking him in the memory corridor) Just my take anyways.

    Something that I never understood, when Kenway kills El Tiburon, Kenway says that he humbled him once and that he helped made him a soldier out of a scoundrel? The whole speech never made any sense to me. Did I miss a cutscene or something? Thanks in advance.

    • @Sevvina

      @TuckerJ82
      In the game, there is just the one bit where Edward goes to break Roberts out of jail and gets the crap beaten out of him by El Tiburón, which leads to Edward meeting Adéwalé and capturing the Jackdaw.

    • @trueblue6201
      @trueblue6201 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      There was originally going to be a fight between Kenway and El Tiburon at the end of sequence 2 which Kenway would lose. This was cut though Kenway's dialogue was not. So as already commented I suppose it can only refer to when El Tiburon sucker punched Kenway when Kenway tried to break Roberts out.

      Ezio is probably, behind Bayek and Connor, one of the most physically adept and competitively skilled assassins in the series. He could beat down at least 3 of El Tiberon at a time with some minor difficulty.

    I wouldn't have killed him. Yes, he knew where the Observatory was, but he can't do anything with it, since without the Skull the place fills itself with deadly traps that are near to impossible to avoid and with it, the place can be sealed off and will not open again unless they find another Sage.

    I've always loved Torres, I think he is quite overlooked when compared to Haytham or Cesare or Al Mualim. I don't think he's outstanding from a narrative perspective but he does play his role in the story and whoever played him did such an incredible job bringing him to life. I love how well mannered, well spoken he is. His intelligence and fascination with the world around him, he is very critical. Edward comments on this fascination in the black flag book and I think that fascination rubbed off on him. Edward for most of his journey is very ignorant (Du Casse says so himself) and I do wonder if a bit of Edward learning to be less brash and more open minded to the assassins ironically came from Torres.
