Does it matter whether or not there is something in Loch Ness? No it doesn't. What matters, to me at least, is here is a man following his passion, doing what he wants and loves to do. It doesn't get better than that in my opinion.

I drove around Loch Ness 2 months ago on my first trip to Scotland. I have to say, there are worse places a person could spend 30 years chasing shadows. If I'm honest I think his search is futile, but his life is something to envy. Fair fucks to him.
Yeah, so much so I find it a bit of a shame for him that it's a myth but I suppose that means there's no chance of someone else coming along and finding it and he can keep living the dream.

I reckon it WAS a transit van. I saw one in my street this morning on the way to the newsagents, and when I came back, it was GONE! Exactly the same! Spooky.
I also had a fascinating ideology of Nessie from a young age as well as some sort of solitude and relative isolation. It is incredible that this gentleman has done it rather than chasing a modern financial and materialistic life. Something is down there. Keep going Sir. I wish you the best.

Personally, sitting by a loch staring at the water for 30 years and making dolls to scratch a living isn’t my idea of a productive life. Each to their own though. He seems very happy which is the main thing and, as I mentioned, there’s always the pub.
How many people go through life and get to a certain age moaning they wish they had done this or that when they were younger? Very few people act on those dreams so I take my hat off to this guy. I think a of of anglers like myself that fish wild out of the way waters are similar to Steve, we simply want to spend as much time as possible in close proximity to water and beautiful wild places whilst using the excuse that we are fishing. We arent really bothered with the reality of catching big fish we are more immersed in the experience.
Hmmm, he didn’t want to look back on a what he feared would be an empty life, of a career and raising a family. So he lives in a caravan at the loch-side, gazing at the empty water surface, with an occasional trip to the pub. Is that living the dream, ironically?
Bull grey seals hunt shoals of salmon that run up the Ness, a short river . The salmon when they enter the loch then shoal at the bottom of smaller but deep rivers and wait for spate when they run the likes of the Rv Morrison and Rv Oich then on and up to the Rv Garry t to spawn , the Ness has a population of returning salmon which spawn in the Ness itself , very attractive for seals of which i have watched many, porpoise across the loch in small hunting groups, three of four seals porpoising up the loch heading for the areas they know well, will have the holding salmon. The greys can travel fast , reach up to 2.3+ meters in length weigh several hundred kilos and can dive to depths if they want of 400m , Loch Ness is max 227m there are also very large eels in Loch Ness courtesy of by feed from the salmon cages which for a seal going deep make a tasty meal. of course those groups of seals might just be the right size to feed a monster deep in the depths.
for any species to continue a full life span of any individual member there has to be at least one breeding pair. As the LNM story was in circulation before the Roman occupation so either there has to be 2 (male and female) or one that is over 2000 yrs old. If no one has seen two then it can’t be a pair. So just one very very old monster…or, and here’s an outrageous suggestion..perhaps it is a myth.
