- The iconic symbol of Singapore, the Merlion is a must visit, representing the countryÍs humble beginning as a fishing village nestled at the southern tip of the Malaysian Peninsula.
Merlion Park is a mythical symbol that represents the island of Singapore. Mainly focused on One Fullerton Street, the park extends out to the Marina Bay Sands nearby Central Business District offering a great view of the city. The major attraction of the park is a 2 meter tall centrepiece Merlion. The 70-tonne concrete statue was first unveiled in 1972. You can enjoy the view of the Merlion through cafes, restaurants, and souvenir shops. Easily accessible all around the clock, the park is one of the busiest destinations of Singapore. The best time to enjoy this half-lion, half-fish structure is either early in the morning or late at night when the crowd is less and view from across the bay is breath-taking.
