    Not sure if ye read the comments Donncha but when I was at UL doing sport science, Alan Quinlan came in and gave an excellent talk on performance psychology and mental health. It’d be great to see him on the pod if possible!

    Agree with some points, but generally I think English Rugby isn't far off being much improved, but as has been stated before, we need leadership on the park, and not templated driven tactics. Allow the players to adapt, rather than force them to stick to pre-designed tactics.

    we won a world cup and have been in the final four times though !!! ireland are all puffed up and crowing but they have generational good squad 14 of whom will be 33 or over come the next world cup, no lowe, no Aki, no JGP, no PoM, etc ..........."watch out for the back fire batman": Donncha is off his chump! i remember last year when England silenced irish arrogance, the silence was golden!

      But mattg, where are England at now? This is the problem. England have a serious player pool to choose from, but the whole England rugby system is in serious trouble. You might have been hurt be something that was said, but you know yourself that is the issue. The truth hurts, and world rugby need England and Wales rugby to be good. So cheer up a bit

    I'm absolutely dumbfounded listening to that nonsense about Scotland "not respecting us at all."
    You are talking utter garbage on that particular subject. It seems to be a narrative the press and a lot of ex players are keen to promote but it really doesn't stand up to scrutiny and is just confusing to rugby followers in Scotland.

    • @fergalbannon4614
      @fergalbannon4614 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It's not press. Personally I've thought it for years. Always blowing up their own holes.
      And it's not just the Irish that think it. Dallaglio said it two days ago, as did the analysts on a podcast with Brett Igoe. We're not all wrong.

    • @grahammccready2647
      @grahammccready2647 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@fergalbannon4614 What are you basing that thought on? It is a stick some of the Irish press pack have used to beat Scotland down for a few years now and you have obviously bought into it but it doesn't stand up to scrutiny. Maybe you have some compelling examples to prove your case?

    • @fergalbannon4614
      @fergalbannon4614 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @grahammccready2647 Laidlaw, Patterson and more recently Hogg have always been at it. Acting like they've won it all. Scotland have finished one 6N in 3rd place. Every year is their year until they implode. Every world cup, it's their time, then they're sent home. Their mouthing off might help their egos, but not their results.

    • @robhallie
      @robhallie 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      It's something from several years ago so not relevant now. We've played them in 2 successive WC pools so they have to talk themselves up, who doesn't?

    • @fergalbannon4614
      @fergalbannon4614 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @robhallie no. Not at all. It's not manufactured or made up. Scots players, pundits and fans always act like they've had years of success. It's a thing. And it's not just the Irish that think it, as shown by other podcasts. I'll trust Dallaglio on this one. Scots get ahead of themselves

    I don't think there is a team in the world who could have played with the intensity and physicality that England did in the first half for 80 minutes. A smart coach would have brought his 6 forwards on at about 50 and hoped that injection of energy would have swung the game for them. Fortunately for Ireland, England don't have a good coach.

      @@opticnerve8927 "250,000 registered players" 🤣🤣🤣 Where did you get those numbers from? I know there's only 140 professional players in Ireland, but to think there's 250,000 people playing rugby every week is hilarious. You couldn't even fit 250,000 people into all the rugby stadiums in Ireland

    • @giddygiddy85
      @giddygiddy85 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@opticnerve8927 The figures for Ireland pretty much tally with the current updated ones of 79,000 registered players (ie those registered with clubs, including the 21,000 adult players) and an overall total of 196,000, which incorporates women’ players, schools, sevens etc.
      So there are 21,000 ADULTS registered with the IRFU to play rugby. Not 250,000
