    very good presentation, I am waiting on my fifth generation focus for the blue. Watching these tutorials, makes me excited. I learned a lot from watching this video, I am strictly a braille user and I've been wanting to get one for a long time. Keep making the videos you're very good at it. Thank you

    As always, great video! I can’t exactly tell(a bit out of screen) are you getting tactile feedback when going through the menus, or do you have audio cues really low or going into an ear piece? Also, just a thought- I use sticky dots when I want to know where I want to place something into a set position. This might help placing things into frame for videos.

      The only feedback that the Focus provides is braille output. There are no audible sounds or other tactile indicators. Thanks for the video suggestion. Unfortunately, I live in a tiny apartment at the moment so don’t have anywhere reasonable to place dots, but that is a good idea for when I move.

    I love the program, you do a very very professional nice job. I just have one question, I'm going to be getting the focus 40 soon, but no one has commented on the life of the battery in the unit. So after it's fully charged how long does the battery last, with normal use. please let me know if you can. Thank you

      I am not the best person to ask about battery life since I typically connect it to my laptop via USB which charges it, but it has never died on me at times when I have used it all day in bluetooth mode. I've paired it to my iPad for 6-8 hour school days before with no trouble. You will probably need to charge it every night though. Hope that's helpful. :)

    Brilliant video. I'm a bit concerned as I've been provided one of these for work, however thumb keys and I don't get on well because I always catch them accidentally. Are they easy to press or do they require some effort?

    • @challengesolutions5236
      @challengesolutions5236  ปีที่แล้ว

      The thumb keys on the Focus are harder to press than other devices in my opinion. I used to have a problem with accidentally pressing them on my BrailleNote Apex, but I very rarely have a problem with the Focus.

    hello, my name is vanessa, i am from argentina. have a focus 5th 14 serd. have a couple of questions that i cannot figure, using the display with macos and IOS. cannot make the device to auto advance: does it work with IOS?
    txt files created from the mac are not accepted by the focus, only brf or txt generated with a windows computer. did it happen to you as well?

    What type of A/C adapter is needed if I don't want to wait all day to charge it with USB cable ? Is it a common 12 volt or is it a special one ?

    • @challengesolutions5236
      @challengesolutions5236  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should have received an AC adapter with the display. I believe it’s a standard 12 volt, but don’t quote me on that. I’ve heard horror stories from people who tried to use 3rd party cords and adapters with the Focus, so do that at your own risk. :)

    Hey I know this is a little late but I need help with my focus 40 display, I left it on for a little wile and someone started fiddling with the buttons,. And now I can't use the braille keys at the top of the display, It's also showing like a lock towards the right of the braille cells. Can anyone tell me how to unlock the keys?

    • @challengesolutions5236
      @challengesolutions5236  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the command to unlock the keys is the power and mode button, (the round button above the rockers at either end of the braille display), together.

      @@challengesolutions5236 oh thanks for the reply but I ended up contacting support. It turns out it's actually the right selecter button and one of the cursor router buttons to unlock it, and the opposite to lock again. Lol the support tech definitely thought I wasn't the brightest.

    Does anyone know how this braille display works with android?

    • @challengesolutions5236
      @challengesolutions5236  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have used it very briefly with an Android tablet running Talkback and Brailleback. It was extremely difficult to connect, very laggy, and kept disconnecting, but technically it did work. I think that is more of a Brailleback issue than a Focus 40 issue though.

    Where do you download your BRF files from?

    • @challengesolutions5236
      @challengesolutions5236  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get most of mine from book share.org. I believe you can also download BRF’s from Bard, and my university creates some for me. However, I do not typically use my Focus 40 for reading BRF’s as I find it easier to connect it to my laptop or iPad and use it to read mainstream formats like Kindle books and Word docs.

    There is a menu on the fourth generation, though. I believe you access in a different way.
