      ^^ this! CB is an awful coach who just needs to be fired 2 seasons ago. Ant has no future here. It's Scoot, Shae, Deni, Jabari and Ayton. That's who should start. I love Grants game but he's not for us. He needs to go too.

    As a huge Blazers fan, but with minimal hoop experience, Ant just seems like a safer bet than some of the younger players. Admittedly I don’t know as much as some of y’all but having a guy that’s still young and a known offensive killer seems like a great thing. If he can defend at just an average level that would make him a huge plus in my eyes. Scoot and Sharpe could be amazing but no one knows. So why not keep him at least another year and try to stagger minutes?

    • @pnwdevv
      @pnwdevv  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He's to good to be a bench/ lower minute player imo. But also I think his traits are ones you could find in a guy who could be a bench/ low minute player. I just think if you're swinging for being a contender it would be safer to put all your eggs in the Scoot and Shae basket instead of keeping Ant as a backup plan who won't ever be a number 1 option, while also hindering the young guys development

    ANF MUST STAY AND SHOULNT BE TRADED:
    1) he just turn 25 and perfectly fits with the rebuilt timeline, as guards can ball till mid 30s (Avdija 23.5, Camara/Murray 24 yo).
    2) hes the only good and consistent 3point shooter for Portland atm, Scoot definitely not a shooter, Sharpe yet to prove he can be consistent.
    3) atm Anf looks like is much much better player than Scoot can be (things can change but also there is a chance Scoot to be a bust, to be quite open and honest).
    4) combo shooting guards dont have a high trade value atm, Miami cannot trade Herro for 2 years and hes part of the Miami scheme that appears to be a better defender.
    trading him for a shitty first and some unproven young player is stupid. Its hard to get 2x 1st and that young player that Portland will get still will need development minutes.
    5) Between Anf Scoot and Sharpe, they can easily play over 30min a game in the guards position. And if Sharpe plays 10-15min as a SF (which he should here and there) play time shouldn't be a topic of conversation why Anf needs to be traded.
    6) Cronin CH said they are acquiring talent, why would Portland give away arguably their best player.
    7) Grant Thybulle Timelord must be traded asap (potentially Jabari Reath as a throw in to make it works). If Portland gets 2 more 1st, that we would have more than enough 1st for future.
    I cannot understand the argument of trading Anf so Scoot can develop as Anf can play 20min SG and 10-15min PG. Scoot cannot play 48min, and atm between foul trouble hes getting into he can barely play 25min (btw hes not much of a defender and hes much shorter than Anf).

    Not everyone on this team needs to be 21 years old, and as far as I can tell the only viable shooters are Simons and Deni. I totally disagree. There is no need to trade Anfernee yet. There’s a real chance Scoot never reaches Anfernees level. Anfernee is one of the best shooters in the NBA. He’s only 24/25. He’s not in his prime yet. He’s unbelievably skilled, and I want to see a HEALTHY season from him. Last year he got injured on opening night, missed sooo many games, yet still averaged 22.6 & 5.5. You don’t trade that for nothing.

    I’d say the argument to trade Simons would be that the Blazers may be better than we think. A projected rotation of Simons, Sharpe, Deni, Grant, Ayton, Scoot, Camara and Clingan/Williams is very solid assuming health and development especially from Sharpe.
    Simons will be aided on defence now by Deni so except against the juggernauts he will be well hidden. If Deni also shoots like he did last year the starting 5 is a good offensive team.
    The minutes thing makes little sense to me. You could easily play Scoot, Shae, Anfernee all 96 minutes at the guard with them averaging 32 each, a very healthy amount. Maybe Scoot gets annoyed at not starting or closing but he hasn’t earnt that yet and is better protected playing most his minutes against backups.
    Basically I don’t see the Blazers being in the bottom 5 of the league at this stage and that is definitely a concern as continuing forward with this roster might mean 30-45 win mediocrity. But the draft is a crapshoot always and a upside season with Sharpe looking like a future star and Deni, Scoot and Clingon looking like playoff quality starters wouldnt be the worst thing. For me it comes down to how much you want a chance at the top pick this year.

      Don't bring up games played stats, you and I and just about everyone that knows the NBA, knows Portland was tanking vying for a better draft pick. Did anyone in Portland last few seasons ever play a full 82 games when you know they are tanking?
      Big free agents won't sign in Portland without massive star power and the only way that's going to happen is to get lucky through the draft.
      Portland has some good corner stones that need to play a heap together (Shae, Scoot, Donovan). Keeping Ant will only eat into Shae's and Scoot's development time.

      Because it's a 15 man roster with more players saved for later in the G league. As Cronin said in his latest press interview: "We're not good enough, we're in player acquisition mode. How many guards did the Blazers play last season? 9? 10? or?? Keeping a 3rd guard is not a bad thing! And, whose the Blazers best player? Ant! BY FAR! He's the only CLOSER on the team - the guy who can take the last shot of the game. Cronin said they are always looking for "the Guy" - The superstar player that all teams covet. ANT IS OUR GUY!

Because that is the only way Ant actually fits with the Blazers. Ant would surely get frustrated coming off the bench when he knows he and all of us know he's the best player. I want the Blazers to get players they actually use now and in the future. For that the most ideal trade would be to the Raptors for Bruce Brown & Jamal Shead. I think both those players fit the Blazers better and would be better for Shaedon & Scoot to have around for guidance and to learn from. Bruce Brown would be a great backup 2-3 and Jamal Shead would be a great backup 1 for the future and can even start if Scoot misses a game due to injury. Jamal Shead is a rookie, but he seems mature beyond his years and seems like a great player to have in the locker room tbh.

      @pnwdevv I think it's more than just the timeline if the Blazers want to have a chance of being successful with Anfernee starting, then it's as simple as Scoot cannot start alongside him and then it makes Shaedon no longer as ideal to start alongside him either. They'd need somebody like Mikal Bridges Bridges at the 2 (tall good defender who can guard 1-4), with Deni Avdija at 3. To help defensively to mold the entire team around Anfernee. There's almost zero chance Anfernee would be content coming off the bench for the Blazers when he's already started for us and has been arguably our best player.

      As I said, my hope is only to trade him for a fair deal, which doesn't seem to be out there. But at least for me, if he won't be the next star, and he won't really compliment whoever he's playing with, then idk why you keep him. I guess he and Shaedon could work, but then Ant takes minutes and development time from Scoot so idk

    The best player on the team now is Deni Avdija. His all-around game needs to be unlocked - don't relegate him to a third or fourth option. And Shae needs to start. At the end of the day, the Blazers are putting together a much more capable defensive squad. Both Shae and Scoot may not become great defensively, but their ceiling is higher than Ant's. His shooting would be missed, but the team would be better off to find Ant a new home.

Why pound the defense mentality into a guy who gives up on plays, turns over balls and doesn't hustle back. I watched 90% of the games last year for us, he has no future here.

    Blazers are in a rebuild. We need to give time to our future players. If Simmons is not that, then he needs to be traded. Especially if we are tanking one more year for Cooper Flagg. We should move Grant, Simmons, and time lord before the end of the year. Just my opinion.

      Ant is too much of a defensive liability, and cannot be in a backcourt with Scoot because he is a small player too.
      Ant's value (for the Blazers) will never be higher than it is now.
      I like Anfernee as much as anyone, its time for him to move on.

    I think the 'keep Ant' crowd are being too sentimental, with respect. The timelines don't match, and you can't have all of your salary cap tied up in offense-first guards. We lived through the Lillard / CJ era, was that not the takeaway? Ant wants to win, and the team needs to fully rebuild, it would be a huge mistake to hold onto him and Grant.

    Trade Grant and one center first. Front court is now what the back court was. Overcrowded. Trade Simons in February and hope we get Flagg next year. Trade Murray or Walker also.
    Play Clingan on Day 1, see if he can play PF with Ayton, but only if Clingan hits threes.

    • @vladimirpejcinoski5248
      @vladimirpejcinoski5248 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i agree with almost everything you said, but trading Anf. and prefer walker to be traded as portland got a lot of players that can play PF (Avdija Camara Ayton) and who knows who will get back from Grant trade, might be another PF like Rui

    • @donaldjones9830
      @donaldjones9830 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@vladimirpejcinoski5248 True, but are we going to play position-less basketball or not. I think the GM needs to figure that out. Also, with the injuries we had last year, I’m more concerned with front court health and them fouling out since most teams can put in layups and dunks unlike the Blazers. Also, I’m concerned also with getting rid of bad contracts and there a few in the front court. Keeping Simons to help mentor Scoot is good.
      But Ant plays no defense and is in his seventh season. You can unclog PF spots by unclogging SF or C spots since we need to play Clingan because he is a first round pick, Ayton because of his contract and Duop Reath because we signed him to a regular contract and knows the system and Williams only to see him get minutes to get trade value.
      In other words, the team has no choice but to play all four centers and the best way is to try one at PF and move off of Grant or Walker. Does Walker earn an extension contract or do we play Grant at SF and sit Murray? Then there is Camara. He plays hard but as a second round pick, I’m concerned about fit on the team. Obviously drafting Murray was a mistake, and I think we need to get rid of Thybulle, another mistake.
      Having more height on the roster doesn’t make up for short guards, which most teams have. All tall players aren’t going to play center or power forward.
      We don’t have to trade a center. How about trading bad contracts. We had injuries to both the back court and front court.
      Injuries and bad contracts are bad for the team. Ant wants to play for a contender and I’m thinking in order to get Flagg, February trade line will help us. Maybe Cronin is done for now.
      Ironically the team would have been a borderline playin team without the injuries last season.
