i love this genre of hoopers: your Lamarcus Aldridge's, Al Jefferson's, Zach Randolph's, Rasheed Wallace's, Joe Johnson's, Kevin Garnett's. players like these are a rare find in today's game
@ yktv bro these new cats don't respect the midrange/long 2 game anymore it's just a bunch of dunks and 3s, even the floater/hook shot game going out of style
You mean the missing piece to the greatest defense in NBA history, right? The long arms that got in your way when you had finally escaped Ben Wallace? But yeah, he got A LOT of techs lol
He doesn't get enough credit. Rashid Wallace is a top 5 power forward of all time.I will argue with anybody. First player To record a hundred 3 Pointers And a hundred blocks five seasons in a row.
I used to play basketball with Sheed at Lions Park year sago. Not only was this dude one of the most talented you'll ever see, but he was mad funny! Thanks for the nickname "Lil DC" Sheed...lol!😂
Thank you so much for this. It's so crazy how the announcers react to Sheed hitting 3's. It blows their minds! Now, big's who can't shoot don't even play. He really was a special player. Top 1% athlete, unguardable jumpshot, incredible IQ, elite defender, and totally unselfish. He could have shot the ball 20 times a game if he wanted to, that just wasn't his game. One of the first elite stretch big's that helped the game continue to evolve.
Was ahead of his time. He spent his whole prime at PF next to a paint clogging offensively challenged center. If any of his coaches in the early 00s had the foresight to play his as a stretch 5, he would've averaged over 25ppg
Sabonis could shoot 3's, it's just that after they reverted the 3pt line in 1998 season, coaches were no longer interested to see players shooting 3's. Because of Shaq and the twin towers of the Spurs you cannot let Sheed play center, he wasn't top tier rebounder and hasn't the strength of a 5.
@@Evenmixer Sabonis was long past his prime by the time Shead entered his. The bulk of his best years were spent playing next to Dale davis and Ben Wallace. And there wasn't a single big man in the league that could slow shaq down during his peak laker years- the only reason to start a traditional 5 next to Shead for that one specific matchup would be to protect him from foul trouble.
@@TheShachattack13 in the early 00's I'm not able to count 5 centers in the league that could shoot lol, they were just pure "brute" throwing their elbows & stuff in the paint Finally, I just saw that Sheed played around 5% of his minutes C in his blazers years and even around 30% in Big Ben era so I guess there's a valid reason it wasn't more
You Are Obviously Young 🤷🏿♂️! Roscoe Didn't Have His Talent "Wasted". The Game Wasn't About Running To The Perimeter Like The Girls Today. He Popped Out When Needed. Going To Work On The Block And Everything In Between Is What He Did, From Simon Gratz Highschool To The League 👊🏿.
12:04 - 12:10 is SO impressive. He went from being the LAST person on the opposite end of the court to the FIRST one on the other side. Crazy athleticism; you can tell he was a track star in high school!
His natural skill set amongst that generation of power forwards should have put him in the hall of fame. You'll be hard pressed to find a big man as talented as he was ever again. I never understood why Brian Grant was getting so much time.
Those are throwback memories from Rasheed Wallace when he played for the Portland Trailblazers. He was a skilled athlete who played power forward for his shot-blocking prowess and his ability to score from the post and mid-range. His intensity and competitive spirit made him a fan favorite🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀
My Guy Sheed was A Animal.Simon Gratz!!! North Carolina!!!! Portland Blazers!!!! DETROIT BASKETBALL 🏀 That's My Guy. Sheed. Nice Highlight Reel. Ball Don't Lie 🏀🫡 💪🏿 Don't even have to mention the New York Knick or Boston Years.
In his prime probably the best post player I ever seen. He had the size and skill, and strength and could shoot from anywhere. His swagger with the air force ones. His technical fouls were hilarious too he had a personal rivalry with the refs. Sabonis was also the best passing big man i ever seen.
From the neck down Sheed was just as talented as any power forwards from his era not named KG or Dirk. The handle was what separated them from him. Coaching, environment and consistency is what separated Duncan from everyone else.
One of the most gifted forwards ever! Athletic with a jumper and crazy defense! If Sheed would’ve kept his temper in order he could’ve achieved his full potential 🔥🌊 He would’ve flourished in today’s game as well.
I always thought that Sheed was on the same level as Duncan and KG, but the refs hated him, so he just didn't get those superstar calls.... otherwise his numbers would've been just as good as theirs, if not better....
Sheed couldn't/wouldn't keep his mouth shut when dealing with the refs, wayyy too many techs and ejections. He had a very bad reputation with the refs, certain situations in the game you have to let it slide, not curse a ref. Just my thoughts.
Sheed had a beautiful/ smooth game, I think his beef with the refs did him a disservice on calls, and that he was an absolute hooper but - I do not believe he was on the level of KGs,Duncan’s, dirks.. I’d bucket him with the Amare staudimires ,Chris Bosh’s, Jermaine oneals of the world. Which is to say the group of REALLY good PFs, excuse me players.
big man who can shoot outside won championships in the 2000s. robert horry, gasol, dirk, antoine walker, rasheed. Shows how vital the 3 pointer is but was not used alot in that era.
Roscooooooooooo (Kendrick voice)!!! Finally🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿. Max you’re definitely a hoops junkie and know the players that were truly good, skilled and not hype ✊🏿😎💯. That’s why I f@*ks with you
Top 5 big ever in the same exact era as dirk should’ve gotten just as much attention maybe more, But the troubles the team had at the time overshadowed how talented he was.
I ❤ it when Rasheed Wallace argues with referees he opens his mouth he gets a technical foul that’s why he’s the all time leader in technical fouls. I miss him. 😆
14:55 "The only other big man that I can think of with that kind of shooting touch in the lane is Bob McAdoo" Also a UNC product coached by Dean Smith!
Rasheed was NICE. But his personality and David Stern’s politics… gets you a bad label. He had a complete game at that height. Mid range, three ball, one dribble pull up, post up either shoulder, left hand finish, defense, floaters, scoop shots, fadeaways. I think if he had a cooler head he could’ve been promoted more, or lack of a better term “played the game”.
My top 10 PFs of the 2000s. 1.Duncan 2.Garnett 3.Nowitzki 4.Gasol (Pau) 5.Rasheed 6. Webber 7.Bosch 8.Amare Stoudemire 9.Jermaine O'neal 10. Zach Randolp Honorable Mentions: Aldridge and Elton Brand. Didn t put Rodman, Malone or Grant because they were on their last years and they are more 90s players to me.
Rasheed was great but I think he came around right around the time he needed to, the power forward position was probably the best it’s ever been when he played, his game was similar to Derrick Coleman, now Derrick Coleman may have been ahead of his time
If Sheed could have used a different approach to get his point across to the refs and just hooped, he would be the GOAT Power Forward as far as skills, toughness, defense, 3’s, passing, IQ, blocks, and his rebounding is his only “weakness” compared to Timmy and KG, everything else, I’m rollin with Sheed!!! It sucks that the refs have that much power over players talent.
Sheed has no weakness! 6'10-7 foot on a good day, has best first step/jump, grabs rebound, block shot Great awareness to get in position on defence and offence. Best shooting form for a big man, hesi-pull up, silky smooth from 3s to mid range. Up close with turn around, floater, tear drop/hooks.
dude could've been the best PF in basketball had he wanted it bad enough. One of the best low post defenders of all time and was also elite offensively on the block. Go watch his defensive highlights against guys like Duncan and KG. KG is also on record saying Sheed was the toughest guy he had to guard. Only thing Sheed lacked was that he wasn't a great rebounder for his position
Sheed was a victim of the 'NBA MARKETING COMPLEX' where they forced him to lose in Portland against LA because they would make more money with the Lakers playing the pacers then Portland that year. They paid him back for it when he went to the pistons
Probably my favorite underrated player of all time right here man, dat boi was a dawg 💪
I checked like 6 months ago for some sheed highlights and the best I found was like a couple random plays. So thank you, much needed

He looked so much more athletic and quick with Portland he gained weight and slowed down a lot with the pistons defense was solid tho
Clevelander here. I wish Evan Mobley had one HALF the offensive talent and feel for the game that 'Sheed had. Unreal player.
