- “Good Mythical Morning” is the most popular daily show on TH-cam, and it’s getting even bigger.
With over 12 million subscribers, and 3.7 billion total views, the show’s hosts Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal are an integral part of their fans’ weekday mornings. And thanks to TH-cam funding, the show has recently transformed from 10 minutes of the hosts sitting on chairs made out of marshmallows and eating weird food to a much bigger variety show production.
Each morning’s show is now about 25 minutes of musical performances, celebrity guest stars, and even more weird food. That shift makes McLaughlin and Neal attractive for advertisers, especially because their content is family-friendly - assuming you’re okay with watching people eat congealed blood and scorpions.

They actually brought back the old format cause everyone hated it! Now it's just Good Mythical Morning then Good Mythical More.

Never really checked the comments section but yeah did feel the show felt more TV stiff for awhile! Glad others felt the same. Only thing I kind of miss was some of the extra content behind the scenes with chase and a few others doing some wacky stuff but it did feel a little forced here and there.
I usually never comment, but I agree with fort. I've been watching them for like 6 years I stopped watching them after the 4 video a day format. Now they're back to two, and I begun to watch them again. Also the 4 video format looked staged af, probs cause youtube was involved
Yeah. I stopped watching them after many years because of that. I watch them through my tv streaming device a lot of times and unless you watch them the day they air it can be a hassle to watch all the episodes since they get mixed up.
I knew they had a crew and several cameras, I though it was like 10-15 people and maybe 2-3 cameras. This is a huge production!! I had no idea!
I actually work nearby their studio. One day I decided to take a quick drive by....pretty crazy. Was an eye opener for me. There was a big RV parked outside. Other crew members walking around I've never seen before. A security guard standing outside watching out like a hawk. (Understandably) but it went to show the money invested in this production. This video is even more of an eye opener.
This actually does not apply any longer. Their partnership with TH-cam, which allowed them to expand the show, only lasted for a few months and now they’re back to their old format.
They make 4.5 million a year, I think they can afford it even without a youtube partnership
@@Caedus696 you realize a production company burns through alot of money, 4.5M will only last you so long with alot of crew, and let alone the cost of upkeep. You'd be surprised how not far money will get you

Rhett and Link they’ve always had top notch hair. Them talking with the host have brought it to a new level, Over the top if you will. Basically I wish I had hair like any three of them or all three of it put into one.

This segment was actually made a few months ago when season 13 just started.
I have such an abundance of love and respect for Rhett and Link and the Mythical Crew. It takes a lot of time and effort to create GMM and they put everything they have into it to make sure that their audience is happy and finds the show enjoyable. They have made a home for millions of Mythical Beasts who can watch their videos and can just let go of their everyday issues and have a good time. It's so incredible how they have gone from shooting commercials, to creating a small show in a garage with one camera, and are now in a giant studio with hundreds of different cameras and crew. They have made GMM, created a book, and been on several tours and that's amazing! I can't thank you enough Rhett and Link, keep being absolutely incredible and hilarious people who brighten every Mythical Beasts day 😁❤️👍
Would have like for this to be a little more in-depth, I feel like I didn't really learn anything new about the show or them.

No, this was the entire piece. But keep in mind, that this is for a TV show, not youtube. They just upload their clips to youtube afterwards. So the TV audience may not have been familiar with GMM.

Senura Kaduwela That's probably how they started, like most big youtubers, but every major channel probably has some sort of staff past a certain viewership level. With all the events, traveling, scheduling, and editing needed it's almost certainly impossible for just 1-2 people

I subscribed to them years ago when they had less than 100,000 subs and I can say i have enjoyed it more and more along the way and it is crazy to see how big they have become. I knew it was special from the beginning.
Ehhhh. I've watched rhett and link since before gmm was a thing and I liked then better then. Not that I dont like gmm, I watch it every day, but I think its starting to get stale. I liked their skits and songs and commercials. Quality over quantity.

I have never minded ANY creative decision these two have made. Even the things they ended up deciding didn't work for them or their audience, I was along for the ride. Rhett & Link are geniuses, and they deserve every bit of recognition they get. I will watch them every morning until the fateful day that GMM is dead. 🔥🐓🔥
When they changed up their format my only complaint were the lighting and camerawork. Other than that more GMM minutes means more enjoyment for me. I watch the main episode and then watch other segments if it is interesting enough. Now that they are back to their old format, I didn't feel much different. People or "fans" just didn't want change. It is not like GMM turned from a morning show into a cooking show. It is still the same. And I am proud that they quickly responded to feedback and did the best they can to fix what can be fixed.
Ps. Notice how in the new season they don't have the "TH-cam Originals" in thumbnails. Idk if youtube dropped them or the GMM crew just felt that their format is too hard and decided to go back to their roots.
they've also had sponsorships (like Hasbro), which is sort of an odd thing, and does make it seem like youtube dropped them :/
Looking at the crew & editing suite/etc was amazing! It’s so cool to see the hard work that goes behind every episode. I discovered GMM in 2014 and will always be watching ♥️
Rhett and Link are by far my favorite channel to tune into daily. The best part is that even my kiddos love their shows. Hats off to you, boys. Thanks for your hard work!

These guys are great and they have a awesome crew. I actually enjoyed the 4 show a day format but the GMM and GMMore are great too!
It was literally the same shit with extra videos haha so I definitely agree but people have a hard time with change so whatever. It was hard to watch so many people turn their backs on them when THEY (Rhett and Link) didn't change at all.
I knew right away that new format was not going to work. I absolutely hated that season.

This is the best show ever!!!!! Always fun with these guys.
It did NOT start of as them sitting on marshmallows. It started off as them telling stories and talking about things. The whole "WILL IT" thing or anything like that is when the show already took a turn for the worst. I miss like season 1-6 (I don't know if those are accurate numbers, what I'm saying is early stuff) where it's "Here's a thing, let's talk about that thing". Instead of "This will get views, let's eat this thing". I don't know, I still watch some of their recent stuff, but the ooooooold stuff from 6-7 years ago is what I miss. But I get it.

As a long-time fan of Rhett and Link it makes me afraid that the very thing that made them unique and very interesting to watch was the independence and how not like mainstream Network TV it was, and now they are trying to be mainstream Network TV and make it more accessible to a wider audience, which means dumbing it down and making it totally "squeaky clean" which in a lot of people's eyes is destroying what made them unique, popular and successful to begin with. It's a paradox that sadly cannot be broken free from.
That's exactly the direction they're heading, whether they admit to it or not. I can guarantee that they are inching their way toward trying an actual tv show. I'm happy for them and all, but it will kill a lot of their original fan base off.
I know things have to change, but damn man. Their set is a full production tv studio now.

As they've proved time and time again, it's not clickbait, it's not so much to conforming to EVERY trend that comes out, it's not being overly dramatic to appeal to the younger viewers, it's about showing interesting content that you're honest about changing, their viewers aren't all under 18, and aren't all students who don't have jobs yet, they're aware that being on this unstable but flexible flatform, that they can take these things to their advantage to better their content in the perspective of both their long-time or casual viewers and the people who are willing to give constructive criticism.
I just realized the interviewer was someone I went to high school with. He was the fasted runner on the cross country team.

I used to watch GMM every morning for years, until they changed it up. Sometimes for things to continue they have to evolve. I'm happy for them, but the changes just didn't jive for me. Seems to be working for them though. I hope they continue to go strong!
I stopped watching for a little while but they have since taken onboard some of the criticism and adjusted things accordingly
I'm sure that's part of it. I'm closer to their age than the target audience.

I watched them from the beginning, and their older content was more “edgy” compared to now. There’s no way they’d get away with shit if they started going back to their old ways of how they interacted with each other. I stopped watching before TH-cam came over and made it feel even less authentic, before that, I thought their “challenges” were getting too repetitive (sitting at the desk and staring at a laptop, repetitive) or “dull”. Of course, when they introduced the new “formula”, I thought their ideas were more “unique” and entertaining...but it felt too “scripted”, sadly.

I honestly didn't mind the format they changed to for awhile. I'll take 10 extra minutes of GMM anyday lol. But no matter what they do or create, they're always gonna be one of my favorites and I'll always support them.
Been watching since the Chia Link days. Im so happy for them for all their success. They are magnificent entertainers and their videos really are must watch "television".

I love these guys with a passion and I've loved this show for years now.
It's somewhat sad to see the background set in this and how "tv production-esq" it looks.
High dollar camera's, tons of people in the back helping run it (other than the typical, well-known crew).
I remember a couple of years ago, they did behind the scenes shot or something and their was like two average cameras on tripods with the normal crew behind them. It felt a lot more comfortable and less tense as it looks behind the scenes now.
I mean, I'm happy for these guys. They're obviously making bank with this show, but it's hard to see change like this from what it used to be.
I do see them trying to push for a true tv show eventually, I mean it's obvious with how much their putting in GMM with all of the high dollar gear.
They already had a traditional TV show called Buddy System. All episodes are on TH-cam for free.

I used to absolutely love their old videos (Season 1-7 or so). After that, their content seemed to be getting more and more repetitive which isn't a bad thing, it just wasn't for me! I didn't really care for all the stupid taste tastes and experiments and what not, just the banter and interesting topics/conversations.

I've been watching Rhett and Link since their 'desk' was a green card table and their lighting was a large picture window that let the sunlight in. They would sometimes comment on the people passing by and you could tell when a truck had passed by the shadow crossing their faces. Good times. Good to see how successful they have become. They're workaholics, they deserve it.

Not that I loved the old format buuut it was a refreshing change. When the new season started I was expecting to press the next video until I reached GMM More. And it’s true what they say people will get bored of the usual. Throughout the years of watching them they always do something new every year and I love it. Compare to other channels they change it up enough that even when I stop watching them it’s not for long. They’re the only channel that I’m pretty consistent with.
