Just played the six player game last night. Negotiations even more intense! Be prepared for a longer game, however.

You're a man with taste Cody. I played a third of this game as a demo at BGG.CON and I knew instantly that it was top 5 game material for me. Such a great recipe for dynamic negotiation.

Indeed. Played my third game again the other night- again six players- it's good. So far, however, the Federalist keeps winning. I would expect that (like the Cylons usually win in Battlestar), but I really want a game where the Federalist doesn't win, just so I KNOW it can be done. Thanks.

Liked, subbed etc because Mission: Red Planet is on your shelf. That is absolutely one of my faves

Hey man, new to board gaming. I've been an avid viewer of Dice Tower and SU&SD, but you really take the cake with your reviews. I've found so many prospective games that fit my taste thanks to you. I look forward to fattening up the Ole wish list...and going broke lol. Take care.

Nick Pane Thank you, sir. It’s comments like that that keep me going.

This looks fun! Based on your review I get a Homeland 2.0 vibe from it too, especially the fact that it's a "cooperative" game that only one player can win. That Federalist win condition is almost straight out of Homeland. New Angeles looks like it has wayyyy more crunchy bits though, like the asset bidding and an actual economy.
I already have Battlestar Galactica for a looong hidden traitor / crisis resolution game and Homeland for a short, punchy one. New Angeles sounds like it splits the difference though and adds its own stuff: a game that includes those elements but has much more negotiation. I'll have to mull this one over, hmmm.

Fair points. However, you can have multiple winners in this game, but always at least one loser. The negotiation in this game is phenomenal, however, and really brings something new to the table.

Oh yeah, of course there can be more than one winner in New Angeles. I must be a Federalist at heart!

I'm so happy with your opinion on this game. My two favourite games are Netrunner and BSG, so I bought this without a second thought. I really trust your opinion Cody, and when you were folding your arms towards the end I thought you were leading into "the production quality is great, but the game itself falls flat". So glad it didn't... can't wait for my copy to arrive!!!

Thanks. Unfortunately I have neither the patience nor the space on my computer to mount such an endeavor- too long of a game!

Love your review, however, I can't help but notice that the entire video focus was off. Your camera focus was not your eyes but on the shelves behind you.

Battlestar Galactica has disappeared from FF website. I think they are replacing it with this. Which expansions for BSG are the best?

In my opinion, the only one you really NEED is Pegasus, or at least half of Pegasus. I say that because the New Caprica stuff stinks. But the Pegasus game board is awesome. I actually sat down the other night and organized the game a little better. All of the expansions offer some really great stuff like new characters, new minis, and some fantastic new cards. If you can, I'd get them all just to get the stuff- not necessarily all of the mechanics (though I haven't played with all of them). Just played the game again the other night and forgot how much I love it. I'm going to introduce it to some new friends this weekend. It's my second favorite game of all time!

On a different channel I stated that it was a bit like Blade Runner : The Corporate Game. Am I right or am I wrong ? or half way there ?

Thematically it is a lot like Blade Runner- basic bleak cyber-punk.

Yeah, I know. I've heard a lot about new TH-cam algorithms which emphasize comments and likes, so I wanted to leave a comment. Even if it was somewhat silly, plus I was on an Arc Trainer working out typing on my iPad, which isn't the easiest. Keep up the good work!

Great review cody, Hey y'know what m'man? *put my arm around you in that classic gesture of wingmanish compassion* She was never your type anyway. Real talk Doc. I have to eat the same three meals every day due to a degenerative condition that isn't going to get cured unless I do it apparently. The doctors are just trying to keep it under control and hence, me employed as opposed to "disabled." So I really *do* know how you feel but the day will come when we can eat whatever we want because it will actually be what is good for us but our tastebuds and eyes won't know the difference. So imagine eating a big juicy steak that has the nutritional power (and it IS power) of a grapefruit. This WILL happen because the day WILL come when I can once again scarf as much lasagna as I want to just as god and computers intended. It's all just information. Information that tells us what something "tastes" like, Information that goes from our DNA to our cells via RNA that "tells" them how to grow. Information that *we* the origin of computers, *control.* Which of course is a very roundabout way of asking: Hey if I'm ever in your neck of the woods will you play this and let me sit in as Haas Bioroid because you've got me really hyped and due to the above condition I don't make it to game group often?" : D

Thank you! Very cool way of looking at it. You sir are welcome to join my group anytime. Let me know the next time you are in the Salt Lake area. Danke!

Will do! My gaming group is supposed to go to some convention so maybe we can catch a game there. I really do wanna' play as Haas, too. I think they're interesting but would have been better if they were crazy and not evil, kind of like Apple as run by L. Ron Hubbard. The Science they are talking about dealing with though is not really that far off, which is what makes them *really* interesting because I would have thought that a company with such discipline when it came to ideas and security would have the intelligence to see the benefits of using that tech in different ways. Y'know "Long Term Greedy." Anyway I haven't done a gaming con since the Vs. System so I was going this year, I'll let you know when they pick one. Any suggestions? As for the new bland thing, I can honestly say that eating the same thing always eventually gets to a point where it *sucks less* but the benefits (for me at least) have far outweighed that level of discomfort.
