Very true that often we buy something that is a part of some style we find attractive but doesn't match our personality. I make that mistake over and over again :(
Absolutely, I do too. But I'm hoping being more aware of it makes me more considered when it comes to future purchases :)
I would avoid polyester at all cost especially with high end brand. cuz I never understand why would they sell with high price when it's literally plastic 🤷🏻♀️

I think you should try purchasing strap options for your Alma BB on Etsy or Amazon and you may fall in love with it all over again. Adorning Alma BB with twilly also livens up the bag.

loved this!! i really want to splurge on a doen dress after hearing you mention them so often. so in love with the flattering but relaxed dresses you have! i think my best purchases have been a couple go-to statement jackets and uniqlo basics! my uniqlo pieces are always the ones i reach for first year after year since i’ve purchased them and they’ve held up well! i also wear pretty basic tops, so i love my two corduroy jackets i purchased 4 years ago. (one baby blue and one burgundy to match with all cool or warm colored outfits). i get compliments on them every year and they’re a great pop of color to my outfits
LOVE this! I definitely love Uniqlo and have some basics from them that have stood the test of time so well! Just a FYI, some Doen dresses have gone on sale on Net a porter I noticed, still definitely pricey but a chunk off the original price if you are interested in taking a look x

Very timely and useful! And a good reminder that we all make mistakes buying things. I know I can feel really guilty when I do. I have the same experience with polyester and this time I’m sticking to my promise to avoid it however “ecologically made” or beautiful it is!

I really enjoyed this video and the theme of best & worst buys. I’m always hesitant about pricey purchases 🧐 then I look back at my less expensive buys and they add up to more than one great investment piece. My wish list contains both the Chloe Tess bag and a Polene bag ❤️saving up for these as I know that the price per wear will make them worth the cost. I’m looking forward to your next video as I am in the midst of overhauling my wardrobe.

I have two Mulberry bags that are about 10 years old and I agree they are very weighty. Mulberry doesn't haven't very good resale value which is partly why I've decided to keep them but funnily enough some of the styles are coming back in so I've been using them more!

Best and worst purchases for me... I bought a pair of white straight leg denim from Everlane a size or 2 too small so they don't fit at all :( that's maybe my worst purchase. My best purchase this year was a jumper from Sezane's winter collection. It's super warm and I love the sort of zebra pattern on it

I got that acne studio bag after seeing you wearing it. Love it! Also Chloe tess has been on my lust list for a while. I was deciding between Chloe tess and loewe puzzle a while ago. Went for the puzzle and was very happy with it, but now seeing you with the tess I’m so tempted to get it too. Have you thought about the puzzle btw? It’s a great versatile bag x
I have definitely thought about the Puzzle, it is so beautiful. I think a little outside of my price range but absolutely gorgeous!! One of my favourite bags to look at :)
The Chloe Drew bag used to be my dream bag but ever since I saw you review this Chloe Tess awhile back, it's topped the Drew for me! Thinking of investing in it sometime soon :)

Hi Helen, thank you, I really love that style of video 🙂 it's funny, I'm wearing one of my best ever clothing purchases, and it's a Zara black and white 100% coton sweater, in a very classic cut. I've had it for about 7 or 8 years and I can't bear to get rid of it, even though I've worn and washed it countless times. Cost per wear is infinitesimal, I think, by now 😂 On the other hand, I had bought on Vestiaire what I thought would be my perfect loafer (I really want the Gucci Brixton but I just can't justify spending that amount of money on shoes, not with being a mother of two and having a life that simply wouldn't ever justify owning real luxury designer pieces, no matter how much I might drool over), a 2nd hand pair of Church's. I ended up not wearing them outside even once and reselling them pretty soon after purchasing : they were so uncomfortable, so heavy, cluncky, rigid, a nightmare ! But, in my dream world, I would invest in the Brixtons, the Musubi and anything Toteme. *sigh* Love your channel, love from Belgium ❤
Thank you :) I definitely believe that a lot of high quality pieces can be found without the high designer price point and it is so lovely to hear that your sweater has stood the test of time and been such a classic item in your wardrobe :) Toteme is gorgeous and I drool over their pieces. I love to browse then try and dupe the aesthetic from other more affordable brands to not break the bank :)

Not all Kate bags come with a tassel (and the bags sans tassel are significantly less expensive, which is a win)!
My Kate bag didn't come with a tassel :) The tassel feels a bit too glam for me, so I went with the option without instead :) x
YESSS to the Dôen dresses (or tops, coats, shoes, cardigans etc 😂).
My whole wardrobe has somehow become 90% Dôen, and I’m not even mad about it!

If you’re not opposed, checkout a nice cobbler in your area to punch a hole in the LV BB strap! It should be fairly cheap.

I also have that LV bag but in wine purple colour. I'm 160cm and prefer to wear it with long clothing like a long dress or coat. In contrast with cropped tops or a highwaisted Jean I do agree it looks ! bit too long!
Absolutely, with dresses it's a bit better but definitely a bit too long. I wish they would just do some sort of adjustable strap to make life easier.

Hi :) I just simply tie a rubber band on the inside to shorten - nothing too fancy :) As long as the bag is not too heavy, this holds perfectly fine :) x
I’ve got a few pairs of shoes that aren’t that versatile. I have velvet Kitty flats, suede Nike sneakers, and two pairs of pony hair kitten heels (ankle boots and court shoes). I enjoy wearing them, but the season has to be right, and it also needs to be a day with no rain. I do wear them, but they’re not in my regular rotation due to their fragile fabric. If I was short on space, they’d be the first to go. I bought the pony hair ones on deep discounts, and the Kitty flats second hand. It’s hard to sell these items.

I'm glad you thought to share this right before all of the holiday sales, great idea. The Acne Musubi was my first luxury bag purchase, and I LOVE it for all the reasons you mentioned. It adds something special with every outfit. I hunted for the Sezane Prisille blouse for months and found one secondhand, and it's beautiful but I think my style shifted from more romantic to more tailored in those months so it no longer fits in my wardrobe... The nice thing about buying good quality is that I've been able to sell my "mistakes" to at least recoup some of the cost!
Worst purchase for me was the Chloe Faye medium size bag. It’s a lovely purse don’t get me wrong. it was just not versatile and practical enough for my style which led me to sell it. Now the best purchase has been the Prada re-edition crossbody in black. I literally have worn that bag 1000x. Worth every penny.
omg yes the recycled polyester plastic bag thing. I have a gorgeous blue, airy kind of fake knitted broderie anglaise dress. I knew it's (recycled) polyester when buying, but because it's so airy (it's kind fo the tiered babydoll shape you see a lot these days)I thought it would be fine... And no, just no.
I once invested in a Chloé bag but I have regretted it . The bag was so heavy on its own, almost 2 kg... I couldn't be bothered and was not using it because of that

Something I noticed is that you don't always list all items in the description below -- would be really helpful if you listed the brand/name of an item, even if it's no longer available. When you only include some items in the description, it makes it very hard to follow along!!

I noticed this, too. Sometimes I want to look for an item, but without the brand, it’s impossible.
Best luxury purchase ... a Giorgio Armani blazer found secondhand, in perfect condition, and fits me like a dream ... it's beautiful beyond words. Worst luxury purchase ... Louis Vuitton handbag. Never again.
Why the LV bag? I myself had issues with their quality so wonder if that's the reason

Buying a boat load of cashmere sweaters in small when I was small, but knowing medium fits me better. However, I still wear those small cashmere sweaters.

Sezane comes to mind, otherwise, anything silk/printed I usually love :) x
