People have been asking about Paul Zone & Miki Zone's musical connection with Bobby Orlando. Bobby Orlando produced the first recordings of THE FAST in 1975 including “Boys Will Be Boys” & “Wow, Pow, Bash, Crash” on the “Max’s Kansas City 1976” LP. An original version of "At The Gym" was Produced by Bobby Orlando with Paul Zone & Miki Zone as THE FAST in 1982 when they decided to venture into electronic dance music before they changed their name to MAN 2 MAN. An updated version of "At The Gym" was released by MAN TO MAN in 1987. In 1982 Bobby also produced & recorded The Fast songs "Unisex Haircut" and the original version of "Male Stripper" re-recorded as MAN 2 MAN in 1986. THE FAST & MAN 2 MAN always had a roster of fully written & arranged songs ready to record. Producers, Co-Producers, Engineers, Mixers, etc. never contributed with songwriting, melodies or lyrics. All credits on all MAN 2 MAN & THE FAST original released recordings are listed correctly.
I knew I'd found the right lady when I found out she was as much of a dancefloor pervert for this track as I was, and we met over twenty years after this was released.

We had just released the synth single "Moontan" so Miki and I went to work with the original Fast producer Bobby 'O' who was hot with The Flirts, Divine, Pet Shop Boys and his own recordings as an artist. We recorded a few singles with Bobby that were never released (he was already juggling more than a dozen acts on his own label "O" Records). We started with 3 songs in about 3 weeks of recording and mixing, "Unisex Haircut" (later we gave the song to John Sex to record), future Man 2 Man songs "At The Gym" (re-recorded and released in 1987) & "Male Stripper" (re-recorded and released in 1986). An indication of how the 80s were a different time to now is that all the kids at my primary school were big fans of this song, including me. We were about 7, 8, 9 years old at the time, and the reason we knew the song was because it had been on Top of the Pops at 7pm on BBC1.
looking back , it's REALLY hard to believe this got played at primary school discos but it was a cracking tune then and it's still a cracking tune....
Bonkers s28 was only rescinded in 2003....😂 some teacher was having a dammed good laugh!

It was popular at primary schools with young kids. Different times.
Listened to this when I was 10 on high energy mixes and was to young to understand then, still a great tune

The guy to my left is an amazing dancer!!!
don't care if it 's gay
still awesome to listen to
I'm straight and think this is a great track. You wouldn't hear this in a mainstream club up the town these days though.
Great fun. The guy on the left is a great dancer but the guy on the right dances like my Dad.

What a decade the 80s were. Camp AF 😊
He performed this just a short time after his brother died of AIDS.. wow.
I used to play it on my late night radio show in the 80s
The dancer on the left has got the moves...
The other regular Palace dance record was Do you Wanna Funk by Sylvester......fecking brilliant!

You seriously want people to believe that Man Parrish had nothing to do with 'Male Stripper'? Yeah...right!
Man Parrish Co-Produced Male Stripper which was Produced by Paul Zone & Miki Zone and continued to work with Paul Zone & Miki Zone on about 15 more songs. Male Stripper was written by Miki Zone in 1982 (there are demo’s of the song), Paul & Miki met Man Parrish in 1985.
Bill Burr is twice as intelligent as Maher…he’s emotionally intelligent and more street smart.
such unapologetic camp
Reminds me of my first boyfriend who used to strip to this. No surprises when he turned out gay later on.
Mary Whitehouse would be having a panic attack; it's a good job she doesn't see me dance and steal the show.
An indication of how the 80s were a different time to now is that all the kids at my primary school were big fans of this song, including me. We were about 7, 8, 9 years old at the time, and the reason we knew the song was because it had been on Top of the Pops at 7pm on BBC1.
