I always get excited when I see your cold hardy citrus tastings. Thanks for sharing and educating! Btw, I'd love to have your OP Nagami to pollinate my US1279. The cold hardiness, seedlessness, and sweet peel are all exactly the genetics I'm trying to breed in. I've got other varieties with those traits, but none have all 3. I know you are still growing it back out, but if you are ever willing to share cuttings I would appreciate the opportunity to steward this variety you have preserved.
Hello my friend! Thanks for the kind words. These vids are for the select few that are trying to push the growing zones for citrus. I need to find more time to propagate these trees and get them out there. Have a wonderful evening and rest of your week. Stay safe!
That would be great! I have the US1279 and also a US1282. I'm still growing them out so I can't speak to fruit quality, but they are probably quite hardy as they are trifoliate hybrids. The 1279 is a changsha x gotha road trifoliate while the 1282 is a cleopatra x gotha road trifoliate. Their true value to me is the fact that their seeds are nearly 100% zygotic. Dr. Kim Bowman said that he can't attest to their flavor as that was not their goal or concern in their creation. Anyway, if you are interested, we can do some swapping, or I'd gladly compensate otherwise. I'm hoping to propagate a few this year. I don't think I have anything else that you don't already have.😅
Hey Dan! These are some of the better hardy citrus varieties out there. You are lucky to be able to grow even tastier citrus (except for that nasty greening disease that wrecks citrus over there). Have a great rest of your week brother!
My mouth is watering from watching this video! Interesting rare citrus varieties! Haven't heard any of them except for Nagami, but not the OP. Have a great weekend my friend!
Awesome taste testing clementino rubino looked amazing to I love the fruits with the red flesh like that looked rough on the outside beautiful on the inside 🤙🏻
I appreciate it my friend 🙏. I got a lot more citrus to do videos on but haven't had the time. Anyway it looks like winter is starting to ease up and I'm happy about more daylight each day now. Hope you and the fam are doing well. Almost the weekend!
Great series of taste tests, Brother G. Always nice to see different varieties from your unique fruit forest as well as gifts from fellow fruit growers.
Thank you! There's definitely more and more hybrids being created as we speak too. Someday we'll have the perfect very cold hardy and sweet citrus we've all been wanting. I appreciate you watching!
Thanks for the wonderful sharing. It's a great-tasting citrus fruits video and it's good that all those came from your fruit trees. Have a happy day. Greetings 🤗
Very cool. I plan to get another citrumelo this year to plant in ground. I've got a spot where I can protect it if weather gets really crazy I'll continue growing my other in a pot.
Это классная работа, видео Супер! С удовольствием посмотрели. Спасибо Вам и удачи Вам в этом не лёгком труде! This is a great job, the video is Super! We looked with pleasure. Thank you and good luck in this difficult work!
Always happy to learn more about the OP Nagami. I just grafted a Nordmann Nagami on an indoor tree. In a year or 2 I'll try getting it on a trifoliate rootstock outside
I have a potted Nordmann's seedless somewhere floating around. I have not gotten around to grafting outside though. I do have a Dr Brown's seedless that I definitely need to propagate before I loose it.
There are many hardy citrus but most are on the sour side. Changsha are one of the few that are actually sweet. Hope your weekend went well. It went so fast for me. Thanks so much!

I'm super happy to share. This was mostly for the hardy citrus nerds lol. Biggest thanks for watching! Hope you have been doing well. Is it spring yet?!
@@VirginiaFruitGrower I really appreciate you sharing. We seem to be having spring here already, it's forecast to be in the eighties this weekend! We are supposed to be zone 9a but so far it's been a mild winter here. It's only been below 30 degrees 3 times with the lowest 26 degrees. So I'm excited to plant some of the trees I've grafted in a few months. When life gives you climate change, grow more citrus!
I love the dance intro and outro lol. That Nagami lived in 3 degrees!!! That seems really hardy. Thanks for the video. That berry tasting orange sounds like a keep for sure!!
