Yes, the other familiar faces are Michael Rappaport and Robert Patrick. You will probably also recognize Peter Berg. A very good yet, intense Peter Berg directed movie you might consider is "The Kingdom" from 2007. It has a very recognizable cast also.
@@GeorgeTropicana It did have a negative impact. He was the main character, the star of the film and it underperformed. Right after this Sylvester stopped getting decent roles. "All the best girls were taken." A heartbreaking line. But it's "I can't hear you, Ray" that is the most telling. Freddie's absolution from his misguided loyalty is complete.
I'm a 67 year old grandfather and it's refreshing to see a young person not only giving some of the films i grew up watching a chance but appreciating these movies.
It’s one of the roles of his that isn’t necessarily on screen for long but he is very memorable. Jackie Brown was another role he was so good in and with limited screen time he made the most of it.
Great choice. After Stallone was "cornered" into the simple muscle-packed action star stereotype over the 80s and early 90s, this was a great reminder how good of a actor Stallone really is, when he can play serious roles. Not an easy task to hold your own against heavy hitters like De Niro, Keitel, Liotta etc. Unfortunately that movie never received the recognition it would have deserved.
@@o0pinkdino0oNo comparison! Stallone is a very good dramatic actor. In First Blood he delivered well too. It was a crime drama not an action. The sequels though were action.
This was a really good movie that totally flew under everyone's radar. Stallone got a lot of props for his acting in this and not being reliant on an action flick.
Great reaction, There are some fun-facts about this movie. Originally, Ray Liotta wanted the role of Sheriff Freddy Heflin, while Sylvester Stallone wanted the role of Gary "Figgsy" Figgis. Two deleted scenes primarily show the racism in the town of Garrison. One scene involves all the resident police officers chasing down a pair of black motorists, and the other shows Heflin's deputy pointing out that the majority of the tickets issued in Garrison go to black motorists on charges that suggest racial profiling. Robert De Niro improvised the sandwiches in his scene, which were an afterthought. Although it is stated during in the credits that the movie isn't based on a true story, James Mangold did grew up in Washingtonville, New York, which was a place where lots of policemen's families lived. In an interview, he mentioned that the film was based on his experiences of growing up in his hometown among the many children of these cops. Keep up the good work.
Coby you have to watch Midnight Run . Possibly the best comedy performance from De Niro. Also a great chemistry with the late great Charles Groden. I saw this and it was really good. You will get a lot of laughs from this.
@@MichaelCoffman-w6o my one of many other favorite lines...on the bus, " I got 2 words for you, STFU." That movie and Stallone's Paradise Alley were the 2 films I would watch with my Pop when alive. No word exchanges, just grunts and laughter! Good health to all!

Saw this in the theater when it came out in 97. One of my favorite crime dramas with a terrific cast. Speaking of crime dramas, check out THIEF from 1981, starring James Caan.
Coby, have you ever seen the 1988 action-comedy movie "Midnight Run" with Robert DeNiro? (and Charles Grodin. Yaphet Kotto, John Ashton, Dennis Farina, and Joe Pantoliano). DeNiro plays a bounty hunter who is trying to bring Charles Grodin (mob accountant) in to his bail bondsman for jumping bail. Meanwhile, Yaphet Kotto leads an FBI team pursuing Grodin, while Dennis Farina leads the mobsters, and John Ashton (from Beverly Hills Cop I & II) is contracted by bail bondsman Joe Pantoliano to also hunt down Grodin since DeNiro is apparently screwing up this quick job (a "midnight run'). GREAT action comedy of the 80s!
Sylvester Stallone & Robert Patrick reunited again in Eye see you. Also watch Ray Liotta again in Unlawful Entry (which is my mother's favorite movie).
I remember watching this and realizing it’s an urban western. I like that it was one of James Mangold’s earlier films that he wrote & directed. I remember Stallone gained weight to be more believable as the sheriff.
I know Stallone is an A-list actor and box office draw but I always thought he was massively underrated as an actor. I mean he's not the the greatest, but he's soooo much more than his pigeon hole has allowed. Always thought Pete Berg was great too. Just had the wrong roles. Him in the great white hype was hilarious!
The difference between a Sheriff and a Police Officer is that Police Officers hired by a municipality must meet standards set by the city. A Sheriff is an ELECTED position and the Sheriff can hire anyone he pleases as long as, like him, they are certified Law Enforcement officers. Usually, thats all the requirements to be hired as a deputy. Now, in Texas, anyone holding a Law Enforcement certification must meet the standards set by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) to KEEP that certification so cops in Texas are always attending one class or another.
This is one of Stallone’s best dramatic roles. I also love how intense Ray Liotta is in this movie. When he leaves the bar just ready to blow. He gets in his car and drives away just seething he looks at himself in the mirror and screams “Shut the f**k up!!” Damn man 😂
Good reaction to this classic action crime drama Coby... And if you want to watch Cop Land again there is a longer extened director's cut (at 116 minutes vs the 101 minute theatrical cut... that's 15 minutes of extened & deleted scenes added back in making a very good film into a great film in my opinion). 😁
unfortunately the movie was rated not very high, some critics were not so good, but for me it's a top 20 or top 30 movie. Awesome reaction to an underrated movie! I love it when reactors give more stuff of Stallone a chance instead just to watch the Rocky & Rambo franchises, so maybe someday you will also make a reaction to "Cliffhanger" (1990), Lock Up (1989) or "Over the Top" (1987), anyway I'm sure some people would love to see more from this on the channel.
I know I've already commented but just wanted to commend you on your film choices. Especially the older ones. Not many people react to them and it puts a smile on my face when I see younger ppl appreciating the older art. Thank you.
Rocky, First Blood and this film are the best performances by Sly that I've seen. Great cast. Did you check out the original "Bad Lieutenant" starring Keitel? The Abel Ferrara directed one, not the messy Werner Herzog remake (though he does make stellar documentaries)? That one is probably my favorite performance from Harvey--just out there on a wire and vulnerable and locked in. It's about a drug and gambling addicted corrupt cop whose vices control his life, and he delivers.
Im long in the tooth on movies, and love many, but it hurts that nobody ever mentions the great acting in Paradise Alley; a brilliant cult classic precurser. Your points well taken too!
just a comment from someone who watches a lot of reactions. most people wait until you finish the series to watch. so getting through lethal weapon 3 and 4 would be awesome. loved the reaction
Stallone's best acting role, nominated for an Oscar I believe! Deservedly so! Imagine the understated restraint it takes when you are usually the stand out Alpha male hero to act as the butt of everyone's jokes. Great movie, and one that is very truthful! There are so many areas, pubs which are basically Cop places, even on the UK! As they have to stay together in case of criminal revenge! I worked in Criminal Justice! 😮

Another master ensemble film= Glengarry Glen Ross. Pacino, Lemmon, Spacey, Baldwin, Ed Harris, Alan Arkin and stellar supporting cast. Blistering script, flawless direction. It has cult status for a good reason. Loved your reaction as always! ❤
This is a favourite of mine. Stallone is great. Such a passive non descript character. I love all the Soprano cast cameos which I guess are because they are all stereotypical east coast character actors. If you looking for a off beat Robert Deniro character you could do a reaction to the Tarratino movie "JACKIE BROWN" starring the legendary Pam Greir.
Joey was played by Peter Berg, an actor and director. His acting roles range from a side character in Collateral, to the lead in Shocker (the Wes Craven film, not the vulgar hand motion.) He’s a fairly talented director, whose films may not always be good, but they’re usually entertaining: Battleship, Hancock, The Rundown, Lone Survivor, & The Kingdom.
rarely watch a reaction to a film I haven't seen. On the occasion that I do, it's because I really enjoy the personality of the reactor AND usually I'm not overly interested in seeing the film.
Since you're a fan of Ray Liotta, you may or may not have seen it, but the first film I ever saw him in was from 1988. It's called "Dominick and Eugene" co-starring Tom Hulce. I thought his acting in that film was phenomenal. If you HAVEN'T seen it, I HIGHLY recommend it. (for Popcorn Roulette)
17:41 "Look at this 'Raging Bull' VS 'Rocky'." Funny you should say that...There's a movie you would REALLY enjoy watching. Picture a movie about two retired boxing champs that have EACH won the championship from each other and now ONE of them wants to prove that HE is the better fighter, so he challenges the other to a THIRD fight...THAT is the premise to the movie "Grudge Match" starring Sylvester Stallone and Robert DeNiro. The really cool thing is that the film shows us the two boxers' careers in newsreels made up of used and unused footage from the "Rocky" and "Raging Bull" films.
I am 37 years old and being a big fan of action movies and action stars of 70s-90s particularly Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Clint Eastwood, Mel Gibson among others. Cop Land is one of my favorite movies of Stallones even though as a kid may have not appreciated the film as much I do now after seeing Stallone in Rocky and Rambo films, Cliffhanger, Demolition Man etc. it shows Stallone could pull off dramatic roles besides typecast as a stoic, muscular character. One thing is Robert Patrick had the distinction of being killed onscreen by 3 of the biggest action stars Bruce Willis in Die Hard 2, Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2 and Stallone in Cop Land.
If you want to see another good Sylvester Stallone movie then you should watch fist.its about someone who rises up the ranks to become the head of a union
I am not sure of your movie repertoire Coby but another great "crime" movie with your De Niro in it is "Heat". Keep up the good work with being genuine in your reactions and just putting voice to your inner thoughts instead of talking for talking sake.
Hi Coby. This is my favorite Stallone movie. Three late 1960s, early 1970s crime movies worth checking out: Bonnie and Clyde with Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty. It was very controversial when it first came out in 1967 because of the naturalistic portrayal of the violence in it and the somewhat sympathetic portrayal of antihero criminals, which shocked audiences and film critics at the time. The French Connection, 1971, starring a young Gene Hackman is a drug bust movie worth a look. The last one is Bullitt, 1968, starring Steve McQueen as a San Francisco cop and features probably the most famous car chase scenes in American cinema. One more thing, as a De Niro fan you might want to check out Meet the Parents if you haven't seen it yet. It's a comedy and De Niro is great as a way too overprotective father. His creepiest role is in Cape Fear, playing a a deranged ex con out for revenge.
Not only that the cast was great, I feel that it was also a conscient choice to have Stallone play this role as an actor whom critics seemed not to love after all those action movies in the 80s to put it carefully. And then he plays the disrespected sheriff between all those critically-acclaimed Hollywood legends who play these complacent cops who think that they are untouchable. Simply spoken he was the underdog actor playing the underdog role. That felt kind of meta to me and if that was on purpose then it was a stroke of genius.
Another good Stallone performance, in my opinion, is Lock Up with Donald Sutherland. Simple premise but good acting all around. Stallone can actually act.
The NYPD has very strict requirements. It wouldn't surprise me if being partially deaf was a DQ. Also, this film did well at the box office, so I'm surprised that not a lot of people know about this one.
Excellent movie choice! I really hope Coby hasn't seen True Romance because I'd love to see her react to it. That would be a perfect addition to this channel.
A sheriff is an elected position so pretty much anyone can do it with no training. In some areas the sheriff also acts as the county coroner and rules on causes of death, and this is often with no medical training.

Perhaps his finest performance besides Rocky. Especially because he is parte of a great cast.
Great film. Lots of accolades and really displayed some range for Stallone. His best performance IMHO.
Excellent review. My son introduced me to this film. It cemented my view trhat Sylvester Stallone is a great actor.
so underrated - thanks for watching !
And again by Stallone in " Eye See You" also titled as " Detox" in other places.
Most stacked cast ever...RIP Ray Liotta.
If you want to see another good Sylvester Stallone movie then you should watch fist.its about someone who rises up the ranks to become the head of a union
One of my top 20 EVER
She’s beautiful and has real Charisma Carpenter vibes ❤🌹 Great reactions. Copland is a bit of a gem for sure
Thanks for reacting to one of my favorite films (that most people never heard of).
vary underrated !
I am not sure of your movie repertoire Coby but another great "crime" movie with your De Niro in it is "Heat".
Keep up the good work with being genuine in your reactions and just putting voice to your inner thoughts instead of talking for talking sake.
Excellent Movie!
A SLY Stallone😎 Masterpeace! 👌😆👍🍁
RIP Ray Liotta 😔
Another good one must watch identity with Ray
Probably one of the best ensemble cast of all time
It was a very deep cast but it is good you used "probably" and "one of" since films like "A Bridge Too Far" would have something to say otherwise.
@@sandman_says_runrunner4701 Yeah I wouldn’t say THE best, but definitely high up there
I think I might re-watch this myself before checking out your reaction…
do it !
So many Sopranos actors, even the Shah Of Iran!
That would be a perfect addition to this channel.
think she has … but Nicolette hasn’t
A sheriff is an elected position so pretty much anyone can do it with no training. In some areas the sheriff also acts as the county coroner and rules on causes of death, and this is often with no medical training.
