    My review of the Jeo-Tec No. 37. This is a new brand and so far, I like what I see.

      A little bit of a time finding a brick and mortar store that caries the cds or jeo-tec brands.

      It is the same company, but I don't know if they sell it in Spain right now.

    A serious competitor to Ontario, Esee and KaBar. I think that CDS (Cuchilleria De Supervivencia-Cutlery Of Survival) is actually J&V CDA. Very detailed review and a thorough test! Good work, mate

      I will not pay $250 to make a Ka-Bar BK2 Companion, Esee, Tops, Ontario, Buck or Benchmade to look like this knife. Benchmade has a $250 Bushcraft that is only 4". It is idiotic to pay these over priced knife makers $250.

    That is a nice blade. I was just checking these out, and that is the one I like the best.

    I bought this knife because of the blade shape and I absolutely love it. It's a really weird steel to me, and since I've bought it, I have yet to even sharpen it, it's still razor sharp. I did a rough use test on this knife and chopped a big piece of wood with this knife and I hit a big knot at fluke angle, warped the blade (very, very slightly) but the weird thing about was, it flexed but did not break nor did it even chip, in fact even with the tiny warp on the blade, it was still very sharp as though nothing happened to it. I have never experienced this with a knife, ever. Normally a blade would either bend or chip but neither of these happened. That said, I still absolutely love this knife and I want to get a kydex sheath for it since I don't need the entire set upon with the ferro roid & stone on short excursions. All in all, this is one awesome knife, if they made bigger knives in the 7-9 inch range, I would buy them, hands down.

      Excellent, I am glad to hear it has passed your tests with flying colors. It is definitely a pretty good steel, I am sure more companies would use it, but it is proprietary, so mainly Spanish made knives from that one factory can use it.

    Some time I would like to show how to cut 2-4" brush with a bowie ( mine then was a western ) in 1-2 hits .or a 4" tree in like 5 hits .the trick is to bend it over then hit it .trees you push on it real hard while you hit it ( why trees ) I was a surveyor and a timber cruiser brusher and wildland firefighter .little logging .

    Man I've been looking at these off and on for a like two years and I'm sold now just knowing it comes that sharp and throws good sparks. But its about $130 now which still ain't bad since I;ve owned many smaller and lesser customs for 2-3x that price plus you used to get just about all knives factory or custom with either a cheap kydex or leather ouch and we'd have to contact leather workers like Hedgehog to make us a sheath of that quality and had you ordered it with a firesteel loop, extra pocket AND to be both vertical OR horizontal carry you would paid anywhere from $150-300 for the sheath alone

  • @mikedifeo8344

    Did it retain the initial blade sharpness after the heavy abuse?I like it. Looks good. Not sure about the double heat treat, But it looks like it can take a beating and keep on trucking. My kind of blade.

    Sy Heah Is, yeah, the NV58 is similar to 440a. But with more Molebium, I guess it makes it tougher, Oh, that double tempering helps and keeps the cost up. Dilly Dilly.,,.p

    That is a nice looking knife and sheath and they both look great and looks like some knives I have which most are just kept in my collection and not for general use. That knife you have must be made in Spain and not made in China and sold by a Spanish company, I hope. I have one knife which was made in China for a German company and it is nice, but have a handle I am not crazy about. Most of my knives are American made and I love them and I have one full tang on the utility belts I have and both are Chinese made, but seem to be well made and designed.

    Mo: 0.50; Mn: 0.50; P: 0.000-0.020;
    S: 0.000-0.015; Si: 0.35;
    Maker: ? - Spain (ES)
    Notes:
    Highly stainless steel used in Spanish Muela knives. Multiple sources publish the same composition which looks rather iffy, but considering the absence of the reliable info I had to go with that. Iffy because numbers like 16.04% Chromium in the composition are unrealistic in real life, nobody controls Cr content with that precision, it'd be too expensive. There is another composition floating around, which lists MV-58 as AISI 440A steel class alloy with added Molybdenum, while all other sources list the composition shown here, which is closer to Din X50CrMoV steel. All in all, budget stainless steel with mediocre performance at best. Highly stainless, will be better off in diving knives, but there's a ton of all sorts of survival, jungle etc knives made out of it. Working to get more precise and reliable info on its origins and composition.

    If I would go camping I would prefer to have one knife for each task. One hatchet, one saw, small fixed blade, a blade very good at slicing for food prep and so forth. I think the idea behind a blade like its the same idea behind a multitool. Its a do it all blade for when you did know you would need a blade. Imagine someone who lives at a farm. Its very hard to carry a hatchet and one blade for each job around. So if a farmer has this blade on his belt and he is far away from the house he can split a piece of wood with this blade instead of going back one mile to the house. So the way I see this blade its like a multitool.

    n there amazon vid....man they where rlly tryin hard to sell it...had a person covered w/a half face mask...running through the woods....its more ridc & funny than than not having a vid al2gether...it even had him jumping over a lil branch...it was more of a jungle circuit course than the one time using the knife itself...
