I had a problem where the water became unable to be shut off with the bath/shower faucet, it just kept running.
I was quoted $650 for some major overhaul to repair this.
A friend's dad researched and suggested the cartridge needed to be replaced.
I was able to get a new cartridge free, as it was still under warranty.
Another plumber quoted me $50 to replace the cartridge. MUCH better than $650, but still....
So, I found your video, and replaced the cartridge myself.
    And it worked!
    Thank you.

Could you explain how to adjust the temperature collar? It’s mentioned in your video description but I didn’t notice any details in the video. My shower will get very hot and when I turn it to cold it gets luke warm, not cold. Thanks

    • @breckdiy1981

      Of course!!
It’s actually very easy to do, they yellow collar just pulls straight out towards you and the is like 50 little notches. Each notch is an adjustment. It’s basically a stop for you handle to stop prior to going further to increase or decrease them temp.
It’s actually for stop from scalding or burning someone.

@@breckdiy1981 Hey thanks so much. I am now really stuck with the black threaded piece that I need to keep from the old one to screw into the faucet handle. It is absolutely unremovable from the original cartridge. Any ideas how to get it off? it won’t screw off no matter how hard I try

One observation. You didn't center the valve housing back into the circular cutout hole before you put the two long screws back in. You might want to double check that. It won't affect the function but may allow the entire fixture to be loose enough to let water to get behind the chrome cover and into your wall. Big problem with mold if that happens.

Sometimes from the manufacturer there is plastic over the hot and cold inlets that need to be removed but very rarely.

Hello, at 2:10 you removed 2 screws to remove the black ring plate. Is this just a cover? Can I remove this without first shutting off the water supply? I think I actually need to access my shutoff valves that are behind this plate.

    • @breckdiy1981

If you are changing out the cartridge you will need to shut the water off to it or you will get soaked. I’ve made that mistake and the water hit the other side of the shower. 😂
