Hi Friends - Finally sharing this special song, "Tears" that I've always wanted to do in honor of my favorite band, RUSH. Although it is probably only familiar to die-hard fans, the words are universal, and the melody so beautiful, it can be appreciated by anyone. With the final RUSH tour, then Neil's passing, so many of us felt a deep void, making this song even more meaningful to me. As we mourn the loss of one of the brightest, most gifted musicians ever, we feel the sadness of so much else that seems forever lost. But as always, I find comfort and hope in their music. For those who don't know it, "Tears" is a deep cut off the 2112 album, actually written by Geddy Lee - a rare ballad he sings so beautifully. I hope you listen to the words and feel the same way I do when I hear it. There are so many great RUSH covers out there that I love, but for mine, I really wanted and personally chose to record my version live, real and raw, flaws and all, not pre-recorded or produced for perfection, because to me, that's exactly what the lyrics are about - the real, raw, vulnerable emotions and flaws we all embody - I want the music to reflect that organically. At the end, we even found a reason to chuckle at ourselves, for our pseudo "studio fade" which I think the guys in RUSH would appreciate! The beauty of music is that the songs live on and continue to inspire and help us connect. This is my small way of sharing that to keep it alive for those who weren't as lucky as we were to grow up with this music. Been obssessed with them forever - I attended three of the last shows of R40 tour including the final one where Neil came out from the drumset to take a bow - I think I posted the video on my instagram and it is still on there somewhere. I cried my eyes out because I knew it was over. But their music lives on and I play it all the time. We are working on our next acoustic version of another one of their songs, so hopefully I'll get that on the channel in the next couple months! They are my all time favorite band, hands down, no one comes close....I miss Neil every day....

Hi Cathy, it seemed just a bit rushed .... you have a great voice , but isn't it better suited to country songs?>
I'm not a bass player, so playing bass for the first time at the same time as singing that song was challenging, not rushed, just concentrating since I had just learned it. I'm a professional singer in multiple bands, so I do many different genres - I don't limit my vocals to what other people think suits me, rather I perform music that I am passionate about and that appeals to me. Geddy Lee has a similar range and high tone so RUSH is actually very comfortable for me vocally.
