Perhaps an injury should nullify any prop bets and result in the participants getting refunds instead of payouts. Make the conditions something like, "will get at least 4.5 rebounds across a minimum of 20 minutes of playtime."
Here in Brazil people have spent billions this year of government aid money in these apps, a tragedy. The lower classes gets these promises of easy money (obviously a lie), while the bet companies profit astronomically and some football (maybe soccer for you) ruin the games by gambles of getting a red or yellow card, own goal... Human brains aren't built to intuitively understand extreme odds, so if a gamble is a .000001% chance we have a hard time emotionally differentiating that from a 1% or more reasonable odds, even when we logically know we'll never win. Most gambling is set up so you win some and lose more, so people get hooked on the feeling of the wins more than the losses. Sure they know most people will lose much more in the long term, but stories of people who win or justifications like pretending you'll stop when you're ahead, or that 'someone has to win, why not me' let people keep going. And desperation is a huge driver; cost of living and assets have significantly outdated wage growth, so many people get desperate and feel that if they're going to be broke anyway it's worth taking a chance to become rich. If you feel like a gamble is the only way to pay off debt, or get medical care, or ever afford a home then it might seem worth it. (Tbc they're wrong, I'm not tryna defend it, just that's what people think/ feel. You’ll only realise your mistake a few decades down the line. An entire generation of addicts & broken families later. You guys have alreadly shocked the world by wide spread betting on current affairs. Only you yanks would do that lol. Good luck chaps. You’ll. need if
As a European watching this video it makes sad and laugh a little bit since in europe its sooooo usual for teams and players to fix matches especially in the lower divisions
One of the best examples of this is snooker. The sports went to shxt after multiple gambling scandals. I personally stopped watching it because of the underlying question: "Did he throw the game for bets?".
the Houston Astros admitted to BLATANT cheating.. they still kept the World Series and no one cares.. our kids learned cheaters make millions and win championships i would 1000% promote my kids to cheat.. there are no real consequences
Oh boy… take it from a Brit…you guys don’t know what you unleashed. The negative impacts on society/addictions/tearing apart of families outweighs the few positives…the house always win making a few people filthy rich. And unlike the U.K. you guys will refuse to legislate to protect consumers due to lobbyist powers buying out your politicians. In 1 year you’ve outdone the rest of the world in a way only you guys could. The fact you now bet on current affairs as a popular trend says it all. You guys don’t do things half heartedly. You’ve only been allowed to gamble a year or 2 & you’ve somehow made it even worse. It’ll take a few years & then decades for you to realise what you’ve done.
You did make a logical and reasonable proposal. Prop bets can be limited to top stars. It wouldn't be hard, nor drop revenue very much. NBA should wake up. In a lifetime of betting, I've only staked maybe 5 prop bets- only in the Super Bowl. Prop bets are for suckers. Betting should not be banned. Like everything, you have to manage the idiots, limit their damage and ruining a good thing.
From my point of view as soon as companies start offering such ridiculous wagers players should be free to cheat them. Throwing a game on purpose is bad but man imagine not even being legally allowed to stop scoring points or taking rebounds.
There was an interesting video I saw about the culture of alcohol and gambling in the premier league. The idea that someone from a poor background is suddenly introduced and corrupted by running into enormous sums of money at a young age, while being surrounded by essentially 30 year old man-children who they are taught to idealize.
You can't stop gambling, just like you can't stop people doing drugs. The only thing you can do is regulate them, provide legal ways to do it and then punish those who break the rules harshly.
I place live bets and I’m not going to lie Toronto raptors games are just played way different then a normal nba game , I’m talking about scoring basket that don’t need to be scored , calling timeouts when the game is literally over , lines changes way too much compare to the other games. It’s just way to obvious but way to hard to know when is going to happen
Umpires can easily influence a game's outcome. A number of dodgy umpire calls during the prestart in one of the current America's Cup boat racing races made sure that one team was NOT penalized effecctively handing them the race win.
It also negatively impacts small market teams having a chance to compete when it makes the league even more money for us to lose. I wish other Blazers fans saw this reality instead of calling me a conspiracy theorist.
Arbitrage betting is interesting as well, but not like how sports fans think that the games play out the way they would be if they actually played the full time.
You should talk to Richard Lewis about how bad sports betting is in esports specifically, it really emphasizes a lot of these issues, you also very quickly run into organized crime in this situation
I stopped trusting sports many moons ago. Only have to look at football or ufc to see why. Total bs these days. Politics, gambling, advertising , and money ruining another thing
If you want to go down the rabbit hole of sports gambling, you should dig into tennis. It's the sport with the LEAST players that can make profits and every individual can control a result. I have testimony from friends playing the tour that are insane.
Mahones going backwards 3 times to take 3 knees just to go back under his rushing line also tells me that these leagues and sportsbook will tell a player to do something that helps them not lose, you gotta question the legitimacy of the game
When will we learn money is always evil. Always. It might be a red flag of mine but I care more about helping people than i care about making money. I wish the world was like that

@@olpporsetty shut up buzzer
Do you think everything with the potential of causing harm should be outlawed?
You’ll only realise your mistake a few decades down the line. An entire generation of addicts & broken families later. Unlike other countries where it’s been legal for ages, you guys will refuse to legislate to protect consumers cause the industry will buy off all politicians via lobbying power. Good luck. You guys have alreadly shocked the world by wide spread betting on current affairs. Only you yanks would do that lol. Good luck chaps. You’ll. need if
Not possible, however I think betting on college sports and players who play under a required amount of plays/minutes in a game
99% of gamblers quit right before they hit it big. You got this!!!
As a Raptors fan it’s really sad what happened to Jontay he had some potential to be a solid starter
Extremely harsh consequences for a dude who made half a million a year and who's brother made 33 million. Wonder how the poor guy will recover tbh...
no sports bet should be legal
ruining an entire generation with this shit
Lmao grow up
bro i swear one of these 13 way parlays is going to pay off and i'm going to be a thousandaire i just have to wait for my weekly paycheck to come in
@cptnd3851 what else oh grand genius should we let the government take from us? Drinking smoking guns?
the Houston Astros admitted to BLATANT cheating.. they still kept the World Series and no one cares.. our kids learned cheaters make millions and win championships
i would 1000% promote my kids to cheat.. there are no real consequences
Throwing a game on purpose is bad but man imagine not even being legally allowed to stop scoring points or taking rebounds.
some people don't know that this situation is much worse in eSports.
Hmmm I definitely don’t remember sports betting being legal in California….
Truth is not having players prop bets would be boring for sports gamblers.
11 min clip with 2 min ad, makes sense
Hilarious that sports betting ads pop up with videos like this every time.
The NBA, NFL, states Ect… did this to themselves by allowing gambling to be legal
Umpires can easily influence a game's outcome.
A number of dodgy umpire calls during the prestart in one of the current America's Cup boat racing races made sure that one team was NOT penalized effecctively handing them the race win.
And NBA now make gambling all out. All arenas have bet promoter. WTF!
It also negatively impacts small market teams having a chance to compete when it makes the league even more money for us to lose. I wish other Blazers fans saw this reality instead of calling me a conspiracy theorist.
0:40 HOLY SHIT, this can totally manipulate the result of a game siince EVERYTHING can be bet on.
Johnny Harris editor lore? 😂
I stopped watching sports when I felt I was just watching casino games
Arbitrage betting is interesting as well, but not like how sports fans think that the games play out the way they would be if they actually played the full time.
You should talk to Richard Lewis about how bad sports betting is in esports specifically, it really emphasizes a lot of these issues, you also very quickly run into organized crime in this situation

R.I.P Pete Rose MLB did him dirty!
No one who bets is a real fan of any team. Bring back the ban on betting.
It's almost like ALL professional sports are a scam
I stopped trusting sports many moons ago. Only have to look at football or ufc to see why. Total bs these days. Politics, gambling, advertising , and money ruining another thing
This makes Pete Rose's gambling look like nothing in comparison. The irony.
I would like to watch a historical game that was fixed on both sides and both sides were fighting to lose
If you want to go down the rabbit hole of sports gambling, you should dig into tennis. It's the sport with the LEAST players that can make profits and every individual can control a result.
I have testimony from friends playing the tour that are insane.
Pete bet on his team to win. That’s a big difference.
Mahones going backwards 3 times to take 3 knees just to go back under his rushing line also tells me that these leagues and sportsbook will tell a player to do something that helps them not lose, you gotta question the legitimacy of the game
It's hard to say no to money.
When will we learn money is always evil. Always. It might be a red flag of mine but I care more about helping people than i care about making money. I wish the world was like that
The NBA was correct to ban Jontay Porter for life. Hopefully that serves as a deterrent
Let’s be realistic, it won’t be significant enough.
Thank you samuel!
You're welcome, Michael
Athletes should not be allowed to gamble on their own games. Just like government officials should be banned from directly owning stock.
They (athletes) already are. It is illegal for them to bet period, even if in other sports. But how can you fiscalize it?
@@thiagoveloso7610ban sports gambling. That is the ideal solution to me because it is horrible to be encouraging it in the first place. Doubt that will happen because it makes so much money for everyone involved.
