the comment on the player count is so true. I was matching at least two of the same people every game for my whole card. i probably played like 15 unique people that entire flawless
I like the map and the zone locations - even the tunnel - because it makes you think outside the box to get the win. The problem is that the team balance and low population are really punishing when your teammates don't understand map control and can't react quickly to opposing strategies 🤕
Yeah that's a fair point, I'm usually for things that make you think out of the box but as you said the solo que/teammate experience really makes it insufferable and the "thinking outside the box" on this map in my experience is usually just waiting out the other team by just holding an angle with a pulse rifle.
Sadly, most players still playing trials have no intention of going flawless. The main reason they can't adapt or understand map control is that they already have a narrow mindset about how to play PvP, which leads them to do the same thing over and over again. For example, pay attention to players who die at the same location too often. There's also the type of player who will try something but do it the wrong way, such as taking a long flank without realizing the opponent's position to control the map.
When im fighting streamers on a frequent basis you know the playlist has absolutely no one on it, this weekend is like the perfect storm for no one to play trials. Bad 3s map, bad adept, and the player count was already so damn low.
the whole point of a capture point is to break stalemates. putting it in a tunnel just makes the stalemate more severe. it begs the question of if the devs are bad at the game and don't understand organized environments at all or if they just don't care and wanted to make something "unique." the latter is more probable but either answer is the result of incompetence.
Bungie really loves ignoring their own mistakes and their own data to do it all over again and say things like, we’ve captured the feedback and we are taking a look into it. They should change the map for this weekend.

They have tons and tons of public data that say certain maps and loot are more popular and they do not pay any attention to that with their decision making around establishing a great and rewarding experience.
I think part of the issues are with bungie and part is with the players. The balancing is ass in classes and it really shows in class usage. Then the hard push of dominion trials is also shit, they should include elim as well. You could either decide mode based on map. Or switch modes between rounds to avoid the unbalanced zones on certain maps. Or zones that too highly reward a very specific character or loadout. Then part of the issue is meta slave 3.0 players that stack in every game mode including pubs. Going against three prism hunters or shiver strike titans is so incredibly frustrating, even if they’re not as skilled. Playing the hard meta is a pathetic crutch on its own. But when players that could pub stomp with all blue gear stack and run hard meta, it makes me never want to play this game again.
1:31 as a Titan main running barricade and glacier grenade i clutched 3 game at 4-4 rounds bcuz the zone spawned there😂 also at heavy round most of the time I get there first with Titan skating and dunemarchers throwing a glacier to block the other entrance seconds before the heavy is about spawn
Yeah that cap point is wild. The average destiny player pre aims the tunnel every time heavy spawns there. Fighting for heavy in that tunnel is always chaotic. I can’t imagine a whole capture point 😂
I think they also don't give a shit in PvE also, like CS:GO which archaic slow gameplay and only base on PvP has avg. online 800k, D2 30k(+- 200k on all platforms), looks kinda joke.

Control and Trials are not the same thing in the slightest. Like Epic said, the B flag works because that is the flag that's supposed to be equally distanced from both spawns. But if we also copy A and C that just doesn't work because those zones are meant to be an insta-cap at the start of a Control match (in other words, they are insanely one-sided). Truth is Rusted Lands is just not a very good map for 3v3 gameplay in general, it also plays horribly bad in comp and putting zones in it that weren't originally designed to be there 10 years ago just makes it even worse.
@TheKillerAxe I am aware that using the old points wouldn't make it GOOD. Rusted Lands is a Control map. It's fundamentally not built for 3v3. But it would still be better than slapping a point in a tunnel and going "Have Fun! - Bungie" all about. EDIT: I cannot type, I said would instead of wouldn't. Oops.
The thing that gets me is that I will go out of my way to avoid trials like the plague because I don't enjoy crucible anymore in general and stuff like trials and comp brings out the WORST in this community. But what makes matters worse is I've decided going flawless again just isn't worth it anymore so I occasionally will grab a persistence card if I get an adept cool, if not? whatever at least I got engrams to focus but 1. engrams not dropping is STILL a bug, 2. Bungie still haven't fixed the strand hunter bugs so I can't even fully do my grapple and spinny tangle fun shenanigans, and 3. without fail I will get a good streak going on my card be it persistence or mercy and I'll get to about 5 wins just to load into a game where I only have one teammate and we're fighting some of the cheesiest and most sweaty players you've ever seen in your life. I am aware a lot of people lost their jobs in the layoffs, game dev is hard, spaghetti code ect. But this game is their cash cow and we got 6 fuckin eververse armors this year but god forbid the bugs that hinder having fun playing the game get patched. Yes weightgate got fixed but a LOT of the main bugs were issues LONG before that was discovered. Bungie needs to get their shit together.
The spawns should be at opposite sides of the map in the other direction, such that theres a Left side of the map with Silo and AssemblyRoom, and Right side with the Beach and Broken
Honestly I think trials should just remove radar if there’s a zone to cap. Like let us make some plays and not just square off like we’re lined up with muskets.
I dont mind this map playing 3 stacked, but duos or solos is trash. The randoms almost always decide to go on a hot flank and insta die every single round.
Ye got my quick flawless in and dipped. Such an unbalanced map that promotes back of the map scout/oulse rifle play and to get close you essentially are forced into choke points to be bombarded with abilities and no way to escape. Truly f tier map
I respect his point of view but honestly I had no problem going flawless this weekend with hunter and warlock. That middle cap point is a death sentence and never have I been in the tunnel. I had great games in this map because I haven’t played trials in it for quite some time seeing new maps makes it Fresh for me. I say again I had fun and had no problems, for when the cap point was in the middle I’d always rotate left or right and flank. You’ll never catch me sitting on either side waiting or trying to cap, only had 2 games where a point was captured otherwise we die or the other team did is nice HC map. Maybe he doesn’t like it cuz he’s trying to use a GL? That’s making it more complicated?
Im on ps5 and I still went solo flawless with my crimils and new savengers fate. I did quickly realize, imo, that for the long range pulse meta where in this map just amplifies those problems a good amount. I mean I didnt really mind that center zone just cuz it basically mades that round pre dominion trials cuz NOBODY is going for the zone and if we/they did that team most likely lost. 😂 Also me being on strand hunter made those loonngg flanks much easier and traversing the map wasn’t a problem too much. But yeah if u want ppl to play the zone that center area is NOT it. 😂😂🎉
I think instead of using zones to win the rounds in this map is to just engage and defeat the 3 opposing guardians. I understand that your GL built might not also be effective on this open map or that matchmaking is another big issue...
This map is so messy. Too many jagged edges and unnecessary material to get stuck on. They need to smooth and remove. Can't tell you how many times my character tripped on a lady bug or found an imaginary wall. The "V" shaped steps in mid map are so jagged my character would randomly struggle up the stairs, which would be the difference of getting fusioned in the back or not lol 🫠
I also hate the fact that we‘ve been playing the same 6 to 7 maps for over 2 years now. Its always jav, bannerfall, endless vale, burnout. Yeah they are all at least decent, but i would really enjoy some variety. Theres how many pvp maps in the game? Over 30? And you are telling me you cannot make like 2/3 of them work for trials? I dont buy it. The 3 new maps are all decent as well, but i feel like ive played each one of them soooo so much since they came out. And when bungie decides to put some other map in every once in a while, its multiplex or cauldron or anomaly which are just straight dog water. The only map im actually looking forward to this season is wormhaven.

I love this map but I haven’t played Destiny religiously since D1. I just started playing again a few months ago. I have played D2 a week here or there over the years. My biggest gripe is that I can’t older weapons that everyone else has. I wish I could get an adept igneous.

I thought Rusted Lands was okay but I really feel you on the 8:02 and onward talking point. In sports video games and my life I’m usually very calm. This sandbox has had me riled up and soubdibg sounding like a 2012 cod lobby. I don’t know if it’s general PvP fatigue, horrible map, or the sandbox itself. Just sucks when you see a game have SO much potential just squandered and not even getting a justification for it.
I'd rather play Multiplex than this map. At least if its a scout map, that map actually has zones where you're not just completely trapped and have some room to move around and avoid the scouts

And it always sucks hard bcs bungie doesn't have a clue what the f*** they are doing PVP Strike team was announced at the same time as they revealed they had dedicated 0 resources to PVP for years Man I played over 6k hours of this game since forsaken, and I had a blast, but PVP is a joke, which is a shame, bcs theres so much good about it... it's so close to being amazing

Bungie places zones in areas that are hard to control for a reason. They want players to interact and come up with tactics to win.

Ive also realized to Bungie doesnt play test their games the same way WE play them. They play them from a dev view not a player view.
They walk around hip firing with double primaries. That's "play testing"

Ive normally played trials on console but I bought final shape on pc yesterday and it was the worst experience Ive ever had with trials.

If you mean adjusting your playstyle to sitting in the back and baiting the objective leading to completely sporadic teamplay in solos/duos then sure I guess you have a point.
I thought Rusted Lands was okay but I really feel you on the 8:02 and onward talking point. In sports video games and my life I’m usually very calm. This sandbox has had me riled up and soubdibg sounding like a 2012 cod lobby. I don’t know if it’s general PvP fatigue, horrible map, or the sandbox itself. Just sucks when you see a game have SO much potential just squandered and not even getting a justification for it.
I'd rather play Multiplex than this map. At least if its a scout map, that map actually has zones where you're not just completely trapped and have some room to move around and avoid the scouts

PVP Strike team was announced at the same time as they revealed they had dedicated 0 resources to PVP for years
Man I played over 6k hours of this game since forsaken, and I had a blast, but PVP is a joke, which is a shame, bcs theres so much good about it... it's so close to being amazing
